3 out of 5 eggsSome issues, hopefully unique

Pros: Inexpensive. Easy set up of those parts that work. Attractive web-based interface.

Cons: First one does not recognize the attached UPS and resets its time/date after midnight. RMA in progress for a second attempt. Does not support Windows NT domains, although it supports Active Directory - important to my particular environment and not made clear in the product description.

Other Thoughts: Looking forward to trying again. LG tech support seem surprised by the behavior of the first unit. So surprised that they are consulting with their Korean factory.

5 out of 5 eggsSWEET !!!

Pros: Sweet NAS! Fairly simple setup, MANY options. Also comes w/remote access/ online backup features. Keep your stuff at home instead of paying for online storage. Buy these and charge other people (hehe). LG has others with BluRay or DVD drives or hotswap HDD. ALL Sweet! We've got like fifteen of them! (various) I kind of like these best for security cam storage, but they work VERY well for computer full or incremental backups, DLNA, DVD media backup for the home, and the list goes on! In s SOHO (office) environment, I recommend the hotswap (you size it) with the BluRay burner so one can have a "hard"copy.

Cons: I've got NO cons!

1 out of 5 eggsDONT BUY

Pros: There are literally none.

Cons: This thing is a heap. I've never once been able to leave it on, it will fall asleep and never wake up. It has to be forced off and turned back on. It crashes all the time and drops off the network when transferring files. It's painfully slow. Support is non-existent. I've called LG probably 20 times now about this NAS and never once are they able to help. They tell me to update the firmware (which the NAS fails to do all the time). Good luck trying to update to the new UI! You have to go to a different country's LG site to find them because the links are all dead on the US site. Once I finally got a hold of the new firmware files, IT JUST KEEPS FREEZING AT TRANSFERRING FIRMWARE FOR HOURS ON END. This product is a complete 110% hunk of junk. NEVER will I EVER buy another LG product after the poor service, quality and support from LG.

5 out of 5 eggsLove NAS

Pros: I've had this product for almost a year and love it. It is easy to setup and works great as iTunes server with my 3 computers/apple tv (xbmc). This is the perfect solution for me and gets the job done.

Cons: Support for this product on LG's website is confusing at best. Hopefully they'll update their system before I run into any problems.

2 out of 5 eggsGood but not good enough

Pros: It has some great features such as the torrent downloader, FTP interface, and creating user accounts. Easy to setup and a good price for the amount of space.

Cons: One drive had errors when I set it up and LG support was terrible. The media center is not that great. If you only have a couple of movies, pictures, and music it's fine. It ignores your folder structure and just indexes your files and puts them in a flat structure. Very annoying. The web page and drive was slow when I first set it up but after a couple of days it got better. The home monitoring features isn't very useful.

Other Thoughts: If LG support helped me fix/repair the device and the media center used my folder structure when viewing it from a remote device (PS3, etc), I would have kept it.

4 out of 5 eggsLoving it

Pros: Had it for a day now and played with the thing for hours already. The web interface and hardware as a whole are very fast. The options and features (web server, mysql server, torrent downloader, full access control, etc) are plentiful and well done for a NAS. Cannot complain for what you get at such a nice price point.

Cons: When first plugged in, the NAS boots up fine and I can see it on the network, however, the Installation Wizard is no good. Constantly fails to sucessfully "setup" everything.

I just went to the NAS IP and used the web interface after trying a few times.

Also, the NAS doesn't do well when forwarded through multiple routers, if possible, keep it on your primary.

1 out of 5 eggsStay away from this

Pros: Nothing but the low price

Cons: Terrible user interface. DDNS doesn't work, poor customer service from the manufacturer, iTunes server doesn't work, print server doesn't work. When I called the company several times, the rep said they would email me a fix. Never emailed me. I then had to write the company for a response. You would think that LG would make a consumer friendly product. It didn't. I had to learn way too much about port forwarding and IP addresses to get half of it working. The other half doesn't work even after firmware upgrades.

Other Thoughts: Stay away and buy another product. I'm wondering if I should just use a cloud based storage system and avoid the headache.

4 out of 5 eggsGood Nas

Pros: Easy to setup, lots of features, good size, doesn't charge you to add additional users. Fast when setup properly (I used Raid 0 because speed was my priority). The software was able to automatically open ports on my router which was awesome. (I know how to do this but i didn't need to)Tech support responded within a couple of days. With Windows 7 simply drag the drive's main folder to the 'computer' icon and assign it a drive letter. piece of cake.

Cons: I did e-mail their tech support because I was getting slow write speeds and they didn't give the correct response. the online file system (through the browser) was a bit wonky but I can see why its there.

Other Thoughts: I swapped out my Seagate GoFlex with this one and I am much happier. The reason I was considering this drive is so I could move my iTunes library off of my external usb drive and have the ability to access my music w/o attaching a drive to my laptop. I ran into one issue when transferring my files to this drive. I was getting write speeds of 5-6 MB/s. Just as slow as my Seagate. To put things in perspective my USB 2.0 drive (WD single drive) was getting write speeds around 22 MB/s. I purchased this drive because it was supposed to be faster and it wasn't. To fix this I had to look online and found that I needed to "disable large send offload (ipv4)". You can do this 2 ways and I did both. one way is to do it in the windows registry. Symantec's website has a great walk-through on this. and the other is within the advanced settings on the network driver in your computer. After I did that I was able to get 30-35 MB/s with gigabit hardwired and 9-10 MB/s wireless N (N maxes at 10-12MB/s)

5 out of 5 eggsDoes not support AD, Newegg site incorrect

Pros: I have another LG NAS (different model) which has served me very well for over a year. I suspect this product would have done the same. However, the NewEgg website incorrectly lists the model as supporting Active Directory integration. However, this model does not support it. If you are looking for this integration, choose another product.

NewEgg provided a RMA for full refund and issued a call tag. Thanks NewEgg.

Cons: None.

4 out of 5 eggsGood NAS

Pros: Device works well. Set up was quick and simple out of the box. LG provides some software which is mostly bloatware. I only used 1 of 4 of their suggested software to connect, detect, and manage content on the NAS. Easy FTP and web server set up. I manged to get wordpress working on it. It was easy to change between RAID0 and RAID1 configuration. The sleep function and auto-email on health status work well.

Cons: I was reading one review online that you cannot reformat the drives or format new (and larger) drives to work in this NAS. I'm not needing a lot of storage so I figured this would not be a problem.

Other Thoughts: I have not tried hooking up an external HDD as extra storage. I also have not tried DLNA feature.
