4 out of 5 eggsA Great Solution for Liniux Machines

Pros: The bare unit can be setup with quality drives for less than the pre-loaded models. For Linux machines, this works quite well. Lots of options with regard to drive setups, external peripherals, etc.

Cons: Backup to USB drives requires you to change the job each time you swap out the drive. Not a huge issues, but it would be nice to have it backup to a USB port as an option. Until you get used to it, it seems kind of strange to operate.

Other Thoughts: With a handful of changes, this could be the be all and end all of lower-mid range NAS devices. As it is, it works quite well for our Linux servers.

5 out of 5 eggsSolid & Cheap

Pros: Have 4 units at different clients (2 rack mount, 2 desktop) and all have been reliable. Looking forward to 4.0 software when we can ssh into the box itself & >2tb support.

Cons: Infrant got bought by Netgear

Other Thoughts: The software is solid, and supports up to 7 drives. The size of the logic board and power supply is less than the space the 4 drives take (in a 1U).

3 out of 5 eggsseems to work for the most part

Pros: 1U Rackmount with support for most connection methods (nfs, cifs, afp, https)
When it works it works pretty well

Cons: I have a few rather chronic problems with mine -
1) whenever i reboot it it won't come back up so I have to physically power cycle it
2) the first array i created mysteriously disappeared with all my data the first time it was shut off
3) They have a pretty good forum with admins that respond; however their support is limited and the actual tech support is horrible - been a week now without a response from my ticket

Other Thoughts: when it's online and working I love it; however I still don't trust it since it dropped my entire array when all I did was reboot the device...
