Well, I like it.
- Pros: I threw 6 of these in my DL 380 G3, and I couldn't be happier! Fast, reasonable noise, and reliable... 8 months later, they're still going strong (They're being used in RAID 0+1 for a data center backup service solution).
- Cons: It's not SAS, and it will burn a hole in your pocket if you don't have federal funding.
- Other Thoughts: Not sure if it was the drives or my previous raid controller, but these drives didn't seem to want to play nice with my 6404 controller. I swapped out the 6404 and used the regular 5i that comes with the proliants, and it worked fine.
Inversely, I tossed the controller into a spare DL 580 and it worked fine with the 10000 RPM version of these 300GB drives.
Technology... Can't live with it. Can't live without it.
