5 out of 5 eggsServer replacement

Pros: Reliable and covered under warranty

Cons: Expensive.

Other Thoughts: The reason this drive costs 300% more than the same drive outside of the HP packaging is warranty. If you buy an HP server and replace the drives with OEM equipment, HP will no longer cover the drive under your support contract. If you manage enough systems, the extra cost is well worth it. Besides for the warranty, this drive is identical to OEM/retail models.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: n/a

Cons: n/a

Other Thoughts: Re: Why the 6 benjamins

Judging by the design, it looks like it's meant to slot into a hot-swap RAID array on one of HP's servers. Either the price is a typo, or this thing is actually SAS or something more exotic.

3 out of 5 eggsOdd product

Pros: Looks kind of cool.

Cons: Price

Other Thoughts: Why does this thing cost three times too much? There's nothing special about it.
