If it didn't install it's own software it would be a great buy. Cons: If you attach this to a machine where you haven't disabled autorun, it installs software. Useless for transfering files between machines. Other Thoughts: Once upon a time, we used to call these "boot sector viruses" Did you find this review helpful? Useful Software Pros: This hard drive is very slim and was the perfect capacity for what I needed. A friend needed me to purchase them an external drive so of course I came to newegg to get it for them. They also needed to backup their entire computer and I didn't want to be bothered to help, so the included software was helpful. Cons: None so far. Did you find this review helpful? Cons: Well, there is virtual cd drive icon poping up on Leopard along with hard drive icon even after reformating to HFS+. It's just annoying, but I got used to it. It went right to work backing up my c/ drive. That's all I wanted it for. Cons: It is listed on my computer as a hard drive. Maybe it should be listed under the removable drives. Typical speeds for the undefined unidentified internal drive specs Cons: There is a chip that creates a second virtual drive. It cannot be deleted by normal means including formatting. It's livable but I detest the fact that this is NOT mentioned in technical terms. Other Thoughts: Buyer be aware that plugging this unit in will create one actual drive letter and one virtual drive letter. Many posts about how to get rid of it however as of Dec 10, 2010, not a one has proved successful for me. To me it's like being at a picnic with one pesky fly.
