5 out of 5 eggsFine Little Drive

Pros: Low cost, Western Digital Hard Drive inside padded case stores USB cable, USB powered

Cons: None really, unless you need more than 80GB

Other Thoughts: Over 2 years now, rock solid. Reformatted it with NTFS to handle larger video files. Never used provided software.

2 out of 5 eggsNot good

Pros: Small, comes with nice padded casing

Cons: Bought this drive to ensure I have a backup of all my files at home. Loaded the information on it. Put it in a safe place, went back three weeks later to retrieve some information, was clicking and stopped working. Good thing I did not really need the information too badly as I had an additional backup on my desktop. Requesting and RMA on it now.

3 out of 5 eggsSlower than listed

Pros: The OS recognize the hardware and install the drives without interference. The single USB 2 power looks adequate enough to handle the unit. The hardware seems all right for now, - time will tell.

Cons: This software not now and never has been in the computer age useful. It does not even handle files only folders. Completely useless! The technical writer of the manual on the CD is lacking the basic English knowledge and technical skills as well. The transfer speed is quite slow (using OSB 2 ports) not near to the listed 480Mbps. When you boot up your computer it will not recognize the HD thus you need to unplug and re-connect it again, which of course is not a big deal.

Other Thoughts: Do not bother to install the software. In case you are thinking today that the Windows ’95 is the greatest OS, you are still going to be disappointed with this software, never put the CD into your drive. The manuals on the CD are lacking the logical English do not get frustrated by reading, not to mention trying to figure it out. Your OS will recognize the hardware and will install the drives automatically. In case you have a good back-up program you like then use it. If you don’t then handle the added hard drive as an added drive and use the copy paste or drag method to copy your files by opening My Computer (Computer in Vista) double click on the drive letter your system designated to the added HD. I intend to use this HD for back-up purposes. I backed up 19 GB what I deemed most important programs. The actual time with my better than average speed, 4 GB RAM computer was 68 minutes. The hardware seems OK perhaps a bit slow (16MB Cache would be better). Until now I used DVD disks for

2 out of 5 eggsNot working without power supply

Pros: Small, Quiet

Cons: Stopped Working

Other Thoughts: Originally, this drive worked on my laptop without any power supply, and only one of the USB cables plugged in. After a few months, it would not spin up without both USB (Y-split) cables plugged in. Now, a few months later, it won't work at all. I threw away the power supply adapter, so don't know if it would work if that was plugged in.

4 out of 5 eggsNevermind!

Pros: Like I said before, it looks great and has a few nice features included (case, auto backup).

Cons: The con I mentioned before has still not been completely resolved, but I just tried using both ends of the split usb connector (one high speed and one backup) and for some reason it started working. I guess it can't make up its mind on how much power it requires to operate...

Other Thoughts: So I guess, since this is still an annoyance, at least it isn't broken, so I feel I should change my rating to a 4. Everything else about this hard drive is rad.

5 out of 5 eggsVery nice

Pros: Quality construction, nice included case, very quiet, reasonably fast.

Cons: None so far

Other Thoughts: One reviewer said that it doesn't come with a power supply. That's true, but note that the USB cable has two USB connectors - you plug in the second one if the first port doesn't provide enough power by itself. This is a sweet unit.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Very small dimensions, considering. Mine hasn't crapped out on me yet, like a few people have said of theirs.

Cons: I remember having problems with macs, but.. who cares.

5 out of 5 eggsreally cool

Pros: small, light weight, you dont need a power cord. comes with a cool case and a wire with a long usb and a short one, so depending on how far away you want the drive, you can make it that length. Good space, fast enoughf for me. I keep all of my itunes on me on that thing

Cons: none really.

Other Thoughts: good buy
