Pros: streamed movies well.

Cons: RUINED HARD DRIVE IN TWO WEEKS. SLOW, SLOW, SLOW! spent more time trying set up and then fix than i did watch movies. watched movies for two days and spent rest of month trying to get it to work. warranty is HARD to get. they want to download imager to replace software onboard. copy pasted in notepad, then signed, then scanned, then replied to email. it took five calls and five tries! still havent got imager. hard drive clicks three times and nothing more, cant access it. ran well in xp and windowsn 7 before i put in NAS!

Other Thoughts: if you buy this you are wasting your time and money. will not work

2 out of 5 eggsWATCH OUT, it will erase your drives!

Pros: For a basic NAS/CLOUD storage system, it is a very decent device for no more money than it costs!

It has many features to choose from and even some plug-ins. If you are looking for a starter NAS, this unit is pretty decent.

There is a significant amount of information on the web on this unit. If you have any questions, you can easily find the answer.

This device also tracks the health of the drive and can even email you notifications. Very cool feature.

Cons: I took the drive out of a USB storage and put in in this unit. When I booted, it showed a message that said I needed to enable data overwrite before I could use the NAS. Since it was the only option, I clicked OK,

I spent the next 3 days working to recover 1/5 terabytes of lost data. The message should have stated it WILL ERASE all your data and maybe a second message asking if you are sure!

The drive seems fairly fast and robust but at times, it seems to be really slow... Not sure what the cause is... If it is the drive or something in my network.

Other Thoughts: There is a lot of community support for this device. It doesn't use FAT or NTFS file system so you will have to backup your data if using an existing drive before inserting it, then copy the files back.

Aside from the issue with overwriting, this has been a good device and would recommend it to others.

Easy hardware install

Cons: Instructions that come with it SUCK

1 out of 5 eggsRun away

Pros: Many features, an actual support phone number that gets answered

Cons: Failures. It has lost my data twice in about a year and a half. Performance was slow. Support was OK however they are very picky about registration (they lost my registration) and were unwilling to uphold the warranty.

4 out of 5 eggsOne year later

Pros: It works. Great set of features. DLNA Media Center, share files across different platforms (Apple, Windows, Android, Linux), email notifications of status etc. etc. All at an amazing price point. Setup was very easy if you are NAS literate or willing to read.

Cons: A bit slow with large file transfer, however it will stream media (Music, videos) without issue.

Other Thoughts: After a year I love this thing. It does exactly what I need sharing across multiple platforms. I bricked the thing about a week ago when I botched a firmware upgrade. Lenovo support sent me a file, I booted off of a USB drive, and I was back in business with the latest firmware. Good product, good support, great price point.

4 out of 5 eggsVERY GOOD FOR PRICE

Pros: PRICE, PRICE, PRICE got mine on sale for less than $70.

Cons: Slow writing speeds but what do you expect from such a cheap NAS

Other Thoughts: This NAS I found it to be VERY GOOD. Now I see some negative reviews about all the things the NAS is having issues with. First of all the first thing you should look at is the PRICE it is very cheap thus low end so don't expect all the bells and whistles that come with a $300+ NAS. This NAS was designed to give consumers a simple NAS capability without breaking the bank. I got mine popped in 2 x 4T HGST NAS drives and it was up and running in a few I downloaded my movies from the 5 smaller drives on my PC without an issue. The write speed is slow when writing small files just over 10M but when writing larger files that increases to 30M+ I just set the files to copy and go to bed when I wake up its done. If you want a simple Network storage to store and backup files with easy access then this is the way to go. Anything else you have to spend more money and get a NAS that meet your needs.

1 out of 5 eggsMissing part

Pros: a lot of feature.

Cons: missing part. I got the box on January, and didn't set it up until now. I did check the parts, all the parts listed on the box is there. But I found that very hard to install hard drive. I researched and found that, the parts that wrap the hard drive to help me to slide the hard drive in and out and also stable the hard drives is missing. I asked my friend with the same model, he got that part in the box but I don't.

2 out of 5 eggs1st NAS, not happy, crashed in 1st mo.

Pros: The device was easy to set up and I could generally access it on both PC and mac. But that's not saying much. The copy tool was nice for copying lots of files from a friend's external hooked in directly to the NAS. Also, the NAS is theoretically faster than USB 3.0, but you'll need a 10/100/1000 router.

Cons: Right off the bat I would get blue screens when connected directly to it from my PC, and at random times when I was transferring files to the NAS or copying from. This negated any advantage I got from faster transfer speeds. I was also not impressed with the user interface, but I could have lived with that. The real downside was that it stopped working on the network and then crashed altogether. The NAS formats the drive in a Linux partition that I could NOT read, and I lost all the files on the hard drive. I got the blinking light of death on the unit, which my frantic online searches showed to be relatively common for this and earlier units.

Other Thoughts: If this unit was reliable out of the box, I would love to get a new one. As it is, I can't afford to lose 3TB of data again, so I'm not going to risk it. I was VERY unhappy with the outcome of my purchase. I am just a home user, and I was storing movies, music, and pictures mostly. I had about 2TB of data on that drive when the NAS stopped booting correctly. I'm deployed so I didn't have any cool technical fixes available.
