4 out of 5 eggsA gamble that paid off

Pros: Easy installation. Space saver. Very quiet and doesn't overheat.

Cons: Nothing that I'd consider a deal-breaker. My only concern was that I felt the transfer speed was a bit slow. I've got it plugged into a PCI USB 2.0 expansion card along with another external HD. The Beyond Micro seems to transfer files a bit slower than my other external HD, but I'm not running speed-intensive programs from it; I just use it for storage.
And of course there's the fact that there's only 232GB usable out of the advertised 250GB...where's my other 18GBs???

Other Thoughts: All in all, I think it's a very good deal for a "250GB" external HD.

Pros: The price for this thing on the other website is much less than here so I got it there.

Cons: As soon as I received the item I plugged it in to an XP and Vista machine. And in both cases, I could not see the ext. hard drive from windows explorer. The package only came with Windows 98 CD so I downloaded a driver from beyondmicro.com. However, this driver is not being recognized either by the Windows Hardware wizard.

Other Thoughts: I may have only paid $xx for it, but I knew it was a risk for this no name brand. Next time if you have the mula, might as well get a good brand name.
