4 out of 5 eggsWorks, but misunderstood.

Pros: Works great! Fast, easy, and almost fun. Takes the stress off when you're trying to transfer something fast. I also like it because it's hotswappable (no need to turn the computer off).

Cons: After plugging in a hard drive, it sometimes does not recognize other hard drives plugged into it, UNLESS you move the to another USB port OR you restart your computer. This hindrance is sometimes a hassle, especially if I'm switching back and forth between two different drives.

Other Thoughts: Wish it would have come with a trial software for drive cloning and such, but what a great price anyway! Gave it a 4 because of the cons.

1 out of 5 eggsNot one of my best choices.

Pros: Worked well when I first got it. Recognized all the drives I tried on it: DVD-ROM, 3.5" HDD, 2.5" Notebook HDD.

Be careful; by default it autoplays files on the drive. (in WinXP) I ended up with a nasty virus while working on a friend's HDD.

Cons: Only got to use it 5-6 times until it finally just stopped working. On any computer with any device

Pros: Good idea.

Cons: Worked great for 2 drive uses... I can not get it to work now. Very dissapointing. It looks like very cheap craftmenship.

5 out of 5 eggsHandy device!

Pros: Really nice not having to mess with an external case or opening system case to hook up IDE cables.

Cons: Power supply is rather bulky, but with a dual voltage output I don't think they can make it much smaller.

Other Thoughts: I haven't tried using it with a CD or DVD burner, but it has performed flawlessly on HDD's. I've used it to read data from old drives, transfer data from an old system to a new system, partitioning new drives and mirroring drives for new systems. Both laptop and desktop drive connections have worked flawlessly.

1 out of 5 eggsDid not work for me

Pros: good idea for a product, seems practical enough.

Cons: Product did not work properly for me, even after reading the instructions carefully.
I tried it with CD-R and DVD-R units (2) (master settings) and two PCs (one thinkpad/XP pro) and one PC clone AMD/win2k. USB detection by XP and win2K ok, but both had the same symptoms: a lot of spinning and noise but ultimately they would not burn either CDs or DVDs.

4 out of 5 eggsMore than paid for itself

Pros: Easy to use, works with both 3.5" and laptop drives.

Cons: External Power is a bit bulky, but that is minimal, I just carry the brick, there is always a standard pc power cord around to be used.

Other Thoughts: Great for use to recover data from drives that you would otherwise need to attach into a case. I also use it to Ghost images onto for Multi PC set-ups. Also to connect cdroms to workstations without an internal drive. Not meant to be used as a primary connection to burners and such

3 out of 5 eggsDon't let the morons confuse you!

Pros: No external drive enclosure to fart drives in and out of.

Cons: Big old extra power cord to haul around and no switching power.

Other Thoughts: I would have thought that only IT pro's would be using a product like this, rather than trying hook up CD-roms and stuff to it.

IT pro's; this product is for you, all day I have systems come in to our business that are covered in virus junk and spyware stopping the os from booting or whatever the problem is. You can pull the laptop HDD or the desktop HDD and hook it up to another system to save the data before you have to reload- VIA USB!!.
If you are looking at buying this as a external cdrom connector or whatever, look for another solution. This product is strickly for PC and Network Technicians in the active field.

1 out of 5 eggsdon't buy it!

Pros: It worked with an old hard drive I wanted to rescue some data from.

Cons: It didn't work with my DVD-burner at all... even though it claims that it will (right on the box). Their tech support suggested it was a software problem, but I am using Nero which is an industry standard; so, that is an UNACCEPTABLE answer to me.

Other Thoughts: I'll never by a SYBA product again. I don't like being bamboozled! :(
