5 out of 5 eggsPerformance

Comments: I added one of these to my Western Digital WD800JB 80GB drive. I took several Sandra filesystem benchmarks right before, and right after the upgrade. This little converter gained me the performance boost of about a 40% faster Average Access Time. Definately worth it.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat add-on

Comments: Having used HighPoint products before, I also find this device excellent on my Intel D875PBZ RAID controller. On later Western Digital drives, as well as with my WD400JB's, using the "cable select" position worked great. Great little package for converting your drives to Serial ATA. NewEgg provided quick and accurate service everytime I have used them.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat for price, loose fitting

Comments: These converters work great, especially for the price. I used them on two 40gig Western Digitals to create a Raid 0 Striped disk with a Abit IC7-MAX3. Worked like a charm. The only con to these converters is that they stick out a lot and are a bit loose. They never fell out, but they made me a bit nervous. I recommend using cable ties to secure them to the drive. WILL NOT FIT IN A XASER III CASE. Great service from Newegg as always.

5 out of 5 eggsThis Works Great

Comments: I just recieved my High Point Serial ATA converter today, one day early i might add. This product works great. I opened the shipping box, and then the box for the controller, obviously. I was kind of shocked when I saw the size. The first thought was, will it clear the side of my case. I have a Thermaltake Xaser III case, It just cleared with probably about 2 or 3 mm to spare. The unit is very compact though, it is a little wider than the standard parallel connector and only about an inch wide. It was only a porblem in my case becasue of the way the drives face. Right out of the box the unit performed great. I noticed an increase in transfer speeds, right away, even from a normal Parallel device to the drive with the converter. A file transfer that would have taken about 45 min to an hour only took 20 min. That is improvement!!! Anyone thinking of converting their normal paralllel ATA to Serial ATA with this device I would do it. Matter of fact I am going to order 2 more tonight for the rest of my drives. I am so glad that I bought this product.

5 out of 5 eggs

Comments: well first time i saw this product at this page I thought oh boy this is another waste of money I am gonna make , but turned out I was wrong LOL this is a nice peice here , eventhough I have been an overclocker and a computer fanatic for 7 years , for some reason I ignored SATA for no reason , and therfore i became an ignorant when it comes to SATA , but 2 dayus ago I thought I want to change that rule , I got this in 2 days , what can I say FEDEX .

then the only thing I had to do on my abit an-7 is to go to the bios & set boot priority to boot in card , then the drive that u wish to connect with this adapter must be set to master mine is a 160gb western digital I was scared of damaging data on it so I backed up data & connected it to sata connector on my mobo it booted up with no problems .

now I have 2 hardrives on my IDE 1 channel & 1 * 160gb hdd on the sata controllewr , I still have one harddrive lying around so most probably I will get another adaptwer soon ,
newegg is the booomb , thanx newegg for A+++++++++ service&support

4 out of 5 eggs

Comments: Works though I do have a couple of issues.
1. make sure to pay attention to the "set drive as master" when you setup the converter. Specific to Wester Digital drives, setting the drive as master is not enough, you need to set it as a single drive (take off all the jumpers). Western Digitals will not work if do not set it as a single drive.
2. Windows XP Setup craps out if you have a SATA drive (at least it did when I had my IDE drive on the SATA converter). I had to put the drive back to IDE in order to get the install complete. After it completed I switched it back and it is working great!
