5 out of 5 eggsMust Have

Pros: These things are the bomb. I use almost daily in computer repair business. No shop should be without a couple of these!!! Easy to use. Built in power switch is a nice touch.

Cons: NONE!!!

Other Thoughts: Comes with adapter to also use with laptop 2.5” drives :)

4 out of 5 eggsNot too bad.

Pros: Works well on WD 3.5" IDE drives, simple to use.

Cons: Didn't work at first.

Other Thoughts: Quality assurance is not Koutech's first priority.

Mine came with the power switch disconnected.
(I would have given it 5 eggs had it not been for this)

If yours doesn't seem to be getting any power...
1) Pry apart the case (it only snaps together)
2) Check wires going to the switch (it just plugs in)
3) Snap case back together and try it again.

Time from start to finish: about 3 min.

If this doesn't work, then ask for RMA.

4 out of 5 eggsBeen working great for over a year

Pros: Wall adapter power supply means no need to rely on usb for power. Never had any problems with it.

Cons: Kinda bulky, but no biggy. The power adapter is not permanently attached so someone less organized may lose it.

Other Thoughts: I much prefer this adapter to my previouse ones which used the USB ports for power. Sometimes the ports would not provide enough power for a hard drive and I couldn't tell if it was a dead hard drive, or just a lack of power from the port. With this adapter you don't have that problem!

5 out of 5 eggsNo problems for me

Pros: Easy, convenient, worked the first time I plugged it in, and still works to this day.

Cons: the power adapter feels a little flimsy while plugging in, other then that no problems.

Other Thoughts: some drives werent recognized, but they may be too old, or non working, don't know don't care. The drives I wanted to access worked fine though.

1 out of 5 eggs

Pros: When it works, it is OK.

Cons: I've tried to use it with several drives with several computers. Every time I switch to a different drive or different computer I have to spend a bunch of time changing jumpers, uninstalling, reinstalling, and rebooting before it finally works.

Other Thoughts: It has been more of a source of aggrevation than any other product I have ever purchased. It was bought over 3-1/2 years ago. Perhaps newer ones are less troublesome.

3 out of 5 eggsWorked great when it worked

Pros: Worked excellent when the item first arrived.

Cons: Quit working after the first usage. But on a positive note it did what it was suppose to do.

Other Thoughts: Will definitely buy another if it needs to be replaced a third time since the loss of data well out weighed the price of the item.

4 out of 5 eggs20 bucks well spent

Pros: Works like a charm. easy to step up, and swap out drives. also very easy to plug in laptop drives.

Cons: no sata. but of course, that's not why i bought it.
also the power addapter for the laptop PATA can slide to the side every now and then and makes it a little annoying to plug it it in. but that's not a big deal, 10 second annoyance at most.

Other Thoughts: Bought this to recover data from my old old windows 98 laptop. Since then have used it for SOOO much. well worth the buy, but i wish i had gotten one with a sata connector.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: works, which is always a good thing... easy to connect. has a power switch and an external ground.

Cons: can be kind of a pain to set up though it does come with directions. some drives need the jumpers moved.

Other Thoughts: bought this cause i had a few HD's layin around that i wanted to use for external storage. i use them for picture back up and data storage. also found some data one of the HD's so that was a plus. i dont leave this connected all the time and i dont use it often (about once a month).

gettin one for my pops cause he has around a TB worth of HD's layin around that he could be using.

1 out of 5 eggsWorks fine, but not for long

Pros: Works well. Just as advertised.

Cons: Slowly died after around 20-30 hours of usage. First, the transfer rate become slow. Then the computer wouldn't recognize this device at all. Swapping-in another one (borrowed from a friend) fixed the problem, so it was the converter's fault, and not other hardware.

Other Thoughts: This device is a great idea, but I can not recommend it due to its poor durability. My friend's unit also showed intermittent delays and had a broken part inside the power connector. I'm afraid these are not durable enough.
