5 out of 5 eggsMeets and Exceeds Expectations

Pros: Tracking is incredible. I can write as fast as I can and it keeps up no problem. I can even (unfortunately) see the same little wisps of lines digitally as I do when with a real pencil I don't lift the tip completely before moving to a new letter. (Time to improve my handwriting.) Pressure sensitivity is smooth. Pen is comfortable to hold. I bought it for the pen input and didn't even really care about touch, but the touch is great as well. Two finger pan is SO handy. You can also pinch-zoom on Android emulators/VMs so you can finally see the entire Angry Birds level :D. The size of this thing is great too. It's active area is almost as large as my screen giving me an almost 1:1 ratio. The build quality is great and the device feels solid. Installation of the DEVICE was very easy, basically one-click. (Free software was a bit more complicated, see below.)

Included Photoshop Elements software is quite capable and does work with the pressure sensitivity. Just remember to set the software in Advanced Mode or else it's a glorified cropping tool.

This device is even upgradeable to wireless if you buy the extra kit which includes a battery and a transmitter/receiver.

This device has far exceeded my expectations and I think it was at a really good price. Another site had it quite lower priced than Newegg though ($380)

Cons: The process of finding and downloading the freebie software was a bit cumbersome. You had to go to some minimalist sites and enter your included redemption code. It was a bit unnerving to read basically that if you don't get all the downloads you want properly at this time you're out of luck. Everything did work though, but the process is a bit unpolished.

Bezel outside of the active area could be smaller, BUT this might be less comfortable for drawing. Tracking on the TOUCH is not quite as good as some better laptop trackpads, BUT if you need more precision just pick up your pen.

Other Thoughts: I recommend checking the setting for "Force Proportions" in the Mapping tab of the pen options. That way if you draw circles on the tablet they will show as such on the screen.

PC Info: Intel Core2 Quad @ 3GHz, 8GB Ram, Win7 Pro x64, SSD.

5 out of 5 eggsVery addictive

Pros: The tablet is physically well laid out and designed.

The radial menu, sub menus and key binds allows for the user to make this as simple or as complex an interface device as desired.

Its huge, I thought a large may be too small for me and almost ordered the XL version.

Lots of extra nibs in the pen holder.

Lets me get into art using computers which I prefer rather than pencils and paper.

Cons: The tablet is large and will have a degree of flexing to it. I like my electronics to be strong with metal, even if that makes them heavier. For perspective, I'm 210# and often end up sleeping on top of my MSI 660GT laptop but this tablet would be obliterated if I tried that.

No loss of eggs because its not supposed to be heavy.

Other Thoughts: Shipped to Okinawa Japan in around two weeks or less. Something happened in my life that changed everything I had planned for the future, this also included wanting to make art again.

I bought the intuos5 for use in Photoshop and I recommend you take a few hours playing with keystrokes and radial menus before taking off, just like other products, you set it up for the best experience. I keep a radial menu with my commonly used tools bound to a pen button for easy access.

I haven't used Photoshop with much seriousness in around ten years and even then I only made web forum signatures. Took me about seven hours constant use of the tablet to get the basic motor pathways down. Use it for everything from browsing to sketching and your skill with it will grow fast.

I never was any good at drawing or painting, pencils, paper and such was never my thing since I've been familiar with computers since I was about two years old. This Wacom tablet lets me practice and learn something I want to learn using the medium I understand best, computers.

Other thoughts... I may get the medium intuos5 for a family member who likes art.

If I improve my ability, I may also take a college art class and improve my marketability as a person. Hence, having a fallback option as an illustrator or some such.

Its kinda pricey but I don't have any buyers remorse, I can always give it away to someone who will use it if I lose interest.

5 out of 5 eggsAmazing

Pros: Beautiful tablet and very user-friendly. Large enough to use your shoulder as you draw and even for as big as it is, not very heavy at all and very comfortable to set in your lap.

Cons: Had to restart the tablet once to get touch response working again. My pc runs 24/7. Responses from the pen have not been affected when this happened.

Other Thoughts: If you're going into computer animation, this tablet has the features for ease of use and the active area space to let your imagination run wild.

5 out of 5 eggsWacom Quality

Pros: It works exactly as it should. Pen is great, touch is a nice... touch!? Wacom Quality is the leading standard in pen inputs for a reason.

Cons: Nada

Other Thoughts: Well I was skeptical about the touch features but low and behold, I started using them almost automatically in my workflow... So touche Wacom, my hat is off to your general direction! If you are Pro or looking to be in the graphics art venue and have thumbs/straps and basic digits, I highly recommend them.

5 out of 5 eggsThe grandeur of this tablet.

Pros: This tablet is huge, I am new to digital art, but even after the first few minutes of using this device after coming from a mouse, I was impressed. I can tell that it is going to take a little getting used to since I am not used to using a tablet or looking at the screen while I am drawling elsewhere. It was very easy to set up and start using, but I will need to reconfigure the hotkeys. It is a beautiful piece of equipment and I can not wait until I am completely comfortable using this device. The large is very large, from what I have read on the internet (and have not had time yet to do) I will be able to set the hotkeys to almost anything that I wish and also map it to 1 screen so I do not lose so much of the drawing area just to navigate the second monitor that I have.

Cons: people that knock off an egg for packaging, just kidding. Mine did come double boxed, and the outer box was about twice the size as the original packaging, there was also a lot of paper stuffing for protection.

Other Thoughts: Make sure that the size is going to be ok for you, it is huge!

4 out of 5 eggsGreat Product

Pros: Anyone reading this probably already knows that wacom products are great. The 'large' provides plenty of surface area and the 2048 levels of sensitivity is very noticeable upgrade compared to previous versions. I am very pleasantly surprised with the touch input! There are a ton of intuitive gestures and it is pretty awesome using your finger instead of a mouse. One nice touch is that even if the pen is in "pen mode", touch input is defaulted in "mouse mode", which I prefer for desktop interaction as opposed to painting. It makes bouncing back and forth very easy and intuitive.

Cons: The only reason this doesn't get 5 eggs is... The packaging! I was shocked to see that this was shipped in only its branded packaging. For almost a $500 tool, I expected it to be in a proper shipping box with some bubble wrap. The box arrived all beat up, torn, taped... I was worried, but everything inside was in perfect condition. But now my box is all ratty looking. Oh well. Other than that, no cons!

Other Thoughts: A few years ago I purchased a cintiq 12 UX, and while it is a great product, I found it was just too small, especially because it takes up a monitor port. I decided to get this instead of the larger cintiq because of the price and portability, as well as being able to use my regular monitors. Switching from the tablet display to just the tablet has taken a little getting used to but I couldn't be happier with he decision.

Be aware that the 'large' is really... large. I love the active area and coming from a cintiq, this is exactly what I wanted, but you may want to pull out your tape measure before clicking the button.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: This tablet is amazing. This is my first wacom tablet and it definitely wont be the last. The quality is amazing, and it works great. Free bundled software is also very good. Im using mostly in Illustrator CS5 for drawing, and so far its been perfect. It does take alittle of a learning curve since you have to look at the screen instead of looking down at a sheet of paper, but you learn quick. The touch controls are also very good and work perfectly. I can't recommend this product enough for anyone that wants to get into graphic design or just draw.

Cons: The only thing I can think of is that it's pretty big, but at the same time you probably know that since you ordered the large one =P

Other Thoughts: I went with the large one over the rest because of the size of the "active area" which is about the size of a normal sheet of paper, so you don't have to pan/scroll around the screen alot. But if you go with the smaller versions it should be that big of a deal. It has a dedicated touch sensor/button to do this so it's still perfect and makes it quick.
