Add a tablet to your computer, the G-Pen F610 from Genius enables a whole new world of functionality. You can use the 6"x10" tablet for drawing and editing images. There are 1024 levels of pressure that can be detected for shape and line thickness control. You can also use the pad to make hand written notes in documents, sign emails or quickly draw charts.
The border of the 2,000 line per inch tablet has 29 macro keys so you can keep your hands on the pen while working. There are sections for Office and Internet, and Editing. The working area will work with any sized screen for very precise drawing or sketching.
Pros: Low Price Razor Thin Lightweight Good Glide and Pressure Sensitivity Sleek looking Matches Widescreen proportions for proper pen mapping Easy setup of hotkeys (also easy to turn off!)
Cons: Pen feels pretty cheap
Other Thoughts: I've used many Wacoms, but I've only owned one (a 6x8 Intuos2) which gave out on me a while back. I couldn't afford the several hundred dollars for a new Wacom, so I looked at cheaper alternatives like Aiptek, but none of them suited my needs and I heard plenty of horror stories. I finally came across the Genius G-Pen F610 here on NewEgg, which seemed to fit what I was looking for. For less than a third of what a new Intuos would cost, I didn't have high expectations, but I was pleasantly surprised!
This was quite a lot more bang for my buck than I'd even hoped. It's very thin and light without being too fragile to throw in my laptop case, and it looks good to boot! The sensitivity is better than my old Wacom, and it's wide format so it matches my monitor without distortion. The only down side is the pen feels pretty cheap. Hopefully there is a replacement somewhere out there, but I can survive with this pen as is! This tablet is a fantastic buy, especially for the price!

Awesome Product, Better Price!

Tech Level: average - Ownership: 1 week to 1 month
This user purchased this item from Newegg
Pros: Price. Nice professional design, thin, light. Pressure sensitivity is awesome, works excellent with Adobe photoshop!
Cons: Seems like it needs about 20 seconds to "warm up" after not being used for long periods of time. It skips a bit (very minor) when you begin using it after letting it sit for anything more than 10 minutes or so. The more you use it, it seems to respond better.
Other Thoughts: My son and I love to draw, we just wanted something we could use to reproduce the experience on a PC. This item was perfect for that, but having the right software is also important. Photoshop responds very well to our needs and this tablet has plenty of room for us to move around. I might have to get another since we keep fighting for this one.

Fedora (Red Hat Linux 12) Works!
Reviewed By: Steve Hess on 1/27/2010
Tech Level: high - Ownership: 1 day to 1 week
This user purchased this item from Newegg
Pros: If you use Fedora 11 or 12, the tablet works as PNP via USB. No drivers to YUM into the system and it's slick on Fedora. Lots of GPL software and they work thus far.
Plug it in and X picks it right up! Also, no conflicts w/ NVidia cards.
Cons: The pen needs a rechargeable stand someday. Otherwise it works great in the office.
Other Thoughts: I cannot beat it for the price. Be warned, it does take some practice before people can read your handwriting. (But my penmanship is lacking, so take it for what it's worth.)

Pros: Price,Size
Cons: Not super accurate.Still going through the tech manual but havent found a way to accelerate the movement of the pin acting as a mouse.
Other Thoughts: this being my first tablet I may not have a full understanding of the device yet but attempting to edit skins using photoshop cs3 seems to be no better then using a mouse .I think this is because the acceleration of pin being so low .
