Over the past 11 years, Microsoft Hardware has been evolving its #1 best-selling Natural keyboard with timesaving features and sleek finishes. Now, the company is excited to introduce a new Natural keyboard featuring a breakthrough ergonomic design, developed for the loyal users that already love split keyboards.

The Natural Ergonomic Keyboard 4000 has been expertly crafted to allow you to work in a more natural position. The new Gull Wing design features a 14-degree gable, a natural arc and a curved key bed — bringing the keys closer to your fingers to reduce reach and unnecessary motion, while encouraging a more natural typing position. It also comes equipped with an optional palm lift for a seven-degree reverse slope and a cushioned wrist rest that encourages better arm and wrist alignment.

Microsoft’s Natural keyboards, a fixed alternative keyboard design, have been found to significantly reduce carpal tunnel syndrome symptoms. They also reduce awkward posture, one of the risk factors associated with common workplace injuries.

  • newegg Ergonomics The Natural Ergonomic Keyboard 4000's proprietary “gull wing” design brings the keys closer to your fingers, reducing reach and unnecessary motion while encouraging a more natural position. The keyboard's reverse slop helps your hand and wrists rest more naturally, while the plush, integrated palm rest offers greater support while you work for maximum comfort.
  • newegg Intuitive Zoom Feature The intuitive zoom feature on the Natural Ergonomic Keyboard 4000 makes close-up work a snap -- simply push the Zoom Slider to zoom in and out when navigating large documents or images.
  • newegg My Favorites Keys The Natural Ergonomic Keyboard 4000 features five My Favorites Keys for one-touch access to your most-used Web sites, files and folders.
  • newegg Customizable Hot Keys The Natural Ergonomic Keyboard 4000 features customizable hot keys including Mail, Web/Home and Search so you can quickly launch these programs with the touch of a button.
  • newegg Improved Number Pad The Natural Ergonomic Keyboard 4000 features commonly used symbols such as equal sign, left and right parentheses, and Backspace just above the number pad for quick reach.

5 out of 5 eggsOn my fourth one

Pros: great ergonomics
durable
comfortable
cheap (now)

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: I've broken 3 of these due to spilled liquids and I haven't bought a different keyboard to replace them in the last 6 years. This keyboard is king. The ergonomics are fantastic and it's come down in price over the years. For a non-mechanical keyboard, I wouldn't buy anything else.

5 out of 5 eggslove it

Pros: Black, ergonomic, lots of keys and short cut buttons, USB connection, wrist pad

Cons: none that I can think of

Other Thoughts: This was my first ergo keyboard and I love it. A lot of the reviews say it's not for gaming but gaming is my primary use for my computer. This is a great keyboard, for gaming and for typing papers or long emails. All you have to do is get used to it.

2 out of 5 eggsGood, would be better if it actually worked

Pros: Love the layout. Very easy on the hands.

Cons: Does not work right out of the box. A few keys work - all others are dead.

Other Thoughts: This came up in other reviews: do yourself a favor and buy a retail version. Avoid OEM version of this keyboard at all costs.

2 out of 5 eggsDoes what I want it to

Pros: The ergonomic design is comfortable to use and the keyboard controls are great.

Cons: The space bar! It is very loud and rather hard to press down.

Other Thoughts: If it hadn't been at such a good price I would have returned it because I absolutely loathe the space key. Aside from that it feels and functions good.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat keyboard

Pros: -Cushion for wrists
-Programmable favorite keys
-Design
-Best ergonomic design I've felt
-The feeling of being at a command center

Cons: -Some tweaking of the software might be required to get specific keys to work correctly

Other Thoughts: I own two of these, one for work and one for home. Both were from newegg and both are OEM. This is a great keyboard no matter what others are saying.

This is the most comfortable keyboard I've been able to find that is at an affordable price [bought on sale for $23 each].

I would suggest this for anyone who wants a keyboard with a comfortable ergonomic design.

5 out of 5 eggsWhy I buy

Pros: An earlier reviewer said it got louder with use as a 'con'. I hear that as a 'pro'. Memorable things: Father smoking a pipe, the aroma, fireplace, old fashioned keys actually striking the paper of a typewriter. Ahh, childhood memories. This is a pro for me.

Cons: Loose keys that make noise might result in a quickly dead keyboard due to a spilled drink. I've taken alot of keyboards apart for cleaning. I hope they've learned by now. (Anxiously awaiting keyboards. Two of them, just in case.)

5 out of 5 eggsI love this keyboard!

Pros: Awesome - no problems after a year and a half.

Cons: Unless on sale usually about $50.

Other Thoughts: I have used mine for over a year and a half. I am a software developer and usually spend 10+ hours a day on this keyboard and have loved it.

1 out of 5 eggsBad keys...

Pros: Nice color, form factor, and feel... for the keys that work.

Cons: Like others, I ran into one of the keys not working from day one. Newegg was great about it, but still frustrating.

1 out of 5 eggs

Pros: I love it.

Cons: I hate that the keyboard just stops working one day for no reason. This is my second one dead in two years.

4 out of 5 eggsWorth the $$

Pros: Awesome keyboard. It took a little while to get used to, but now I love it!

Cons: OEM.

Other Thoughts: I ordered the OEM, and the 'x' key did not work. Called Microsoft and they sent me a brand new retail keyboard within 3 days. Not bad...!
