5 out of 5 eggsJust What I Was Looking For

Pros: This keyboard has great features. I was initially looking for a basic no frills keyboard, but I am glad I got this one. The hot keys at the top and sides are handy when you need them and don't get in the way or anything, so I don't see why people would hate them. I like the touch of the keys. A lighter touch, and they are plenty responsive. Microsoft makes the best peripherals IMO and I don't think I'll buy any other brand for a long time.

Cons: Didn't come with the installation CD for all the extra buttons, but I downloaded it from Microsoft in a jiffy, so no biggie.

Other Thoughts: Great keyboard for the price.

3 out of 5 eggsNot Worth It

Pros: It's a keyboard with media center controls for a reasonable price.

Keys are relatively quiet, which is good for people with significant others who are bothered by loud typing.

Cons: First, the keys have a very low height. It basically feels like you're typing on a laptop. Second, the function keys (F1-F12) require the "F Lock" to be turned on to use them, otherwise they function as shortcut keys (you my prefer that, but I do a lot of programming and it bothers me). Also, the keyboard doesn't remember your "F Lock" setting when you restart the computer, forcing you to reselect it every time you power up.

Third, this keyboard is not well designed for height. The legs raise the keyboard a little, but they do not raise it enough. Also, the legs of the keyboard are not very sturdy. I dropped my phone on the keyboard and the legs snapped.

Other Thoughts: This keyboard would work perfectly for light to moderate home or office use, but is DEFINITELY not for gaming.

4 out of 5 eggsGood Solid Keyboard

Pros: Nice sound and feel to the keystroke action; the calculator button is handier than you'd think; here's hoping the "star" button along the middle-top brings Megan Fox to my house.

Cons: The small and shallow function keys can be hard to find in a pinch, especially when playing games; why do we need a "Function-Lock" key these days? - it should be on by default; the keystroke action has deteriorated over time with my old 3000 keyboard - something to look for in this new one I got; lots of useless multimedia keys.

Other Thoughts: On my second one; it was hard for me to find a keyboard that I really liked the action on until I tried this out at a Staples; dont forget to hit the Function Lock key to get your keyboard to work; overall a good basic keyboard.

5 out of 5 eggsComfortable & Reasonably Priced

Pros: Keyboard has a very comfortable delicate feel to the keys. Multimedia keys are compatible with Ubuntu Linux. After purchasing one over a year ago, quickly swapped out all five wired keyboards for this one.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Would recommend purchasing keyboard/mouse combo for $26.99.

1 out of 5 eggsEl Junko

Pros: Cheap, lots of mappable keys, quiet action.

Cons: Mushy in the extreme. Function keys are "chiclet" keys not real keys. Very little travel in they key motion (and none in the function keys) Keys are normal width but about 25% smaller top-to-bottom then a normal keyboard which makes it very awkward to type on.

Other Thoughts: I bought this in a pinch as my 7 yr old Logitech wireless keyboard died. I just got it plugged in and hate it already. so it will get returned as soon as Newegg ships me a real keyboard to replace it.
