5 out of 5 eggsSecond update after owning 2+ years

Pros: I'm still loving this keyboard. the only thing that has spurred me to make a second review is I spilled an entire bottle of beer on this keyboard last night. It was flooded with beer, and it didn't give a duck. I was pretty wasted so I just kept using it. It wasn't until the next morning that I flipped it so it could drain.. Quality keyboard right here.

Cons: Didn't drink the beer.

2 out of 5 eggsPerhaps worth it at 1/3 the price

Pros: Keys feel great for typing
More macro options than anyone could possibly need
backlighting works well
Media keys and rotary volume control are awesome
When it was priced sanely, it was worth the price

Cons: Not very sensitive for a gaming keyboard
Rubber and lettering rubbed off less than a year after purchase
One of the most expensive non-mechanical keyboards out there
Not worth more than about $60-$80

Other Thoughts: While I still mourn the now extinct MS X-6 keyboard, one of the best ever made, the x-6 was serviceable and reasonably priced. I don't know who/what prompted them to price them into the stratosphere, but I would tell anyone looking at these, forget it. Not nearly worth the outrageous price they charge now. For $160 +s/h, go for a good mechanical instead.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat keyboard

Pros: -This keyboard has worked better than any other keyboard i've ever owned. Response is great, it's quiet, and macro recording is awesome. I play arrow keys for FPS and WASD for any MMO, and I can use both with ease.

Cons: -Lights. I am not a fan of any lights, luckily it has a setting to turn it off. Sometimes it will reset and not remember the setting, but it's not worth docking an egg for.

2 out of 5 eggsPrice rises as quality drops

Pros: Keys feel good for typing. Well-spaced keys; plenty of macro keys; full set of media keys

Cons: Keys are much more cheaply coated, and the coating came off the A-S-D-E less than a year after purchase. Space bar is not as responsive as other gaming keyboards. Backlighting is barely enough if the room is darkened.

Other Thoughts: I am astounded to see that the price of this keyboard is now twice what it was when I bought this one, less than a year ago. It certainly isn't as well-made as the first one I purchased.

Oh MS, why did you stop making the X-6? That was the perfect keyboard. Oh well. Just bought a mechanical after being disappointed with this purchase.

1 out of 5 eggsSide-JUNK-winder

Pros: It lights up

Cons: The keys are junk, I went from a good board to this @rap. And of course you can NOT reach Microsoft for an RMA. So don't even consider it if you want your monies worth, I tried to game on this, the key come right out..........

Other Thoughts: I'm sure its great for the average internet browser, who doesn't care. The keys have a funky feel to them, for the price I paid I expected way more.
Again you can't reach them so don't count on RMA help cause there is none!!!!!!!!!!!!

4 out of 5 eggsGood Keyboard - but not worth $160

Pros: -Simple layout
-Backlight is adjustable between 3 levels
-3 Settings modes to change between keyboard profiles easily
-'kickstands' on back of keyboard to raise or lower height/angle (only one level to adjust to - stands up or down)
-wrist 'ramp' for support isn't bulky or movable like other boards
-Keys are not loud in any way (isn't a mechanical KB)
-Very easy program to use - setting macros and settings is intuitive and simple
-has lasted me 5 years with zero problems. The paint is beginning to fade off a few keys

This keyboard is not overdone like others. This is a basic gaming keyboard with macro keys and some shortcut keys up top for volume, calculator, etc - which is what I like. Some boards out there are way overdone with detachable wristguards/num pads, too many macro keys (you generally won't need more than.. 3? for gaming). This keyboard keeps it simple but what I don't understand is the $160 (120?) price.

Cons: -Function keys are very slim - sometimes difficult to locate the correct F key during button mashing (they are thin and small, about 1/3 the thickness of normal F keys). They are also almost flat making this problem even worse. these feature is almost game breaking

-Backlight should change colors based off the current keyboard profile (3 profiles total). My mouse color changes based off the profiile and could be used to easier identify which setting you're on

-macro keys (6 keys total on left side) are flat and too close together. If the keys were not flat, then their proximity to each other wouldn't be a problem. Similar to the F keys, it is easy to press the wrong macro key because of their flatness and closeness.

-Only one level of adjustment with the 'kickstands' on the back of keyboard

-The shortcut keys up top do not seem to be compatible

-For $160 you could get a better keyboard with more useless features, I'm guessing its more expensive than when I bought it because it is not in production anymore?

Other Thoughts: Good keyboard but not worth $120 or $160. With how basic the board is you could pickup a KB with some more electronic features, mechanical, better backlights for this price.

4 out of 5 eggsGood board.

Pros: Good backlighting. Good overall feel. Good anti-ghosting.

Cons: Proprietary keys that non-Microsoft operating systems can't make use of, at least last time I checked.

5 out of 5 eggsPerfect keyboard

Pros: -Nice key feeling
-Lots of macros
-Useful keys
-Nice desing
-Soft backlight

Cons: -Noisy
The MAJ key is slow to get back in it's position, often causing typos like this : it'S.

Other Thoughts: From all the keyboard I've ever used or tried. I shall say that the Microsoft SideWinder X4 was the best. I have it for 8 years now and it's still working perfectly well. It is just perfect.
