5 out of 5 eggsHelp end the pain

Pros: After years of wrist pain, trying to stregthen/stretch/etc., and nothing working I ordered one of these keyboards. Now, after 10+ years I still keep coming back each time I order a new one. This is my 5th keyboard because I have 2 at home, work has bought 2 and have bought one for work.

Cons: There's nothing to indicate you have accidentally pushed the Insert key.

5 out of 5 eggsBest Ever!

Pros: Best keyboard ever. I have had it many years and it still works. Have to buy a new one because I spilt something on it and the "m" key sticks. Great product!

Cons: does everything I want it to.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent keyboard

Pros: Been using keyboard over 5 years and still working great. Letters haven't even worn off yet. Used at work and I'm on it several hours a day 5-6 days a week.

Cons: Would like a sleep button but not much of a con.

Other Thoughts: It takes two weeks to get used to it. If you don't like it after two weeks then your just not going to like it. I'm at the point where typing on flat keyboards actually hurt after a while. Not with this.

5 out of 5 eggsLove it!

Pros: Large, natural. The best keyboard I've used since the original Microsoft Natural 15 years ago, but still not the same mechanical build quality. Has the #6 key on the correct side (left hand if you ever took typing,) unlike many natural keyboards. Uses classic positioning for Home, End, etc instead of the more vertical design seen on recent keyboards.

Cons: Small Enter key - I'm used to having a larger more L shaped Enter key lately. Doesn't fit in most under-desk keyboard trays, but you expect that with a Natural. No backlight, but I'm a touch typist so not necessary for me.

Other Thoughts: This keyboard sits kind of high, so if you already have a high desk it's on it may raise it too much for comfort. Best used with a large under-desk tray for proper ergonomics.

I dual boot with Ubuntu, and as long as it's plugged directly into the mobo and not through a hub I've never had problems with it being recognized unlike another reviewer. It works in the Bios and in Linux and Windows flawlessly. To the other reviewer: update your BIOS and see if that fixes it.

2 out of 5 eggsOne broken key makes this keyboard worthless

Pros: Hands feels comfortable space out. Has shortcut keys that make editing and drafting easier.
Pausing movies is easy with the shortcut keys. customized hot keys that open programs is convenient.

Cons: No sleep button mode. No big deal cause I can just reach over to my tower power button which put it to sleep... still. After a year the semi-colon ; key no longer works. I have to write computer code, so that really makes this keyboard almost useless. I had to buy another keyboard just to type a semi-colon.

Other Thoughts: If you have a dual boot, windows and ubuntu, I suggest getting a keyboard with ps/2 plugs because it is high probability the computer won't recognize the usb connected keyboard the first or fifth time.

4 out of 5 eggsI stockpile these

Pros: This is my favorite keyboard. I have used many and always come back to the good old trusty Microsoft Ergonomic 4000. In fact, I have a stockpile of three of these in case Microsoft stops making them. I absolutely adore the layout. The key press is nice and springy and it doesn't make too much noise to press. Have I mentioned it's ergonomic?

Cons: Some could argue the keys are mushy (but I think they're just right). The S,L,C, and B keys are starting to wear off which is really no problem but doesn't hint the best in quality. I had previously had one of these that broke, I am on my second one, though the other lasted ~2 years. This one is going on 3.

Other Thoughts: I just love this keyboard's layout. If other companies made similar ergonomic split layouts, Microsoft might have a competitor, but right now this is pretty much the only act in town.

1 out of 5 eggsFlushed Money

Pros: I loved this keyboard. great design. very comfortable. easy to use.

Cons: My first one lasted more than 3 years. Several months ago, I finally replaced it. that one lasted about 6 months and I blamed my kids for its failure but the new one lasted less than 2 months. The forums say the metal that makes the contact is too thin and breaks creating a bridge or shorting out some keys. Very poor quality. Shame on you Microsoft for endorsing this manufacturer.

Other Thoughts: I wont buy another one. I'm typing this, angrily, with my mouse and on-screen keyboard until I find another ergonomic keyboard worth my money. out of newegg replacement warranty and I threw away the box. never did I ever think "A KEYBOARD" would drop dead in a matter of weeks. unbelievable.

2 out of 5 eggsmissing parts?

Pros: It's a nice Keyboard, my old 4000 failed after years of use so I got another one.

Cons: I don't know if they take the pics that show what your supposed to get with it, but I didn't get anything but the Keyboard and I guess I should count myself lucky I got that at least.

I didn't get the user disk or manual but thank my lucky stars I got my limited warranty booklet, I'd be lost without that.

Other Thoughts: I should count myself lucky that it even works, I don't know who or what they have in their packing and shipping dept. because like a damaged motherboard that was put on top of packing materal and then taped the box shut with NO PROTECTION TO THE PARTS INSIDE it's a wonder anything people get from Newegg works. I had other problems with newegg and decided to deal with ASUS directly with my last Motherboard order and got that one fixed. I still had to pay a nice shipping fee on top which I'll never forgive Newegg for.
So I'll give a generous 2 out of 5 rating.
Newegg, Please send me my user disk and owners manual for this Keyboard!!!!!!

4 out of 5 eggsErgo user for ten yeas

Pros: Ergo, Price... Features, I guess (I don't use them). I also like the black color.

I really like the attachment that ads more tilt back. I can't see some if the keys because of the angle, but I don't need to and for me that option is comfortable.

I can't complain about the key pressing. I like the feel or am just used to it. I type between 40-70 words per second, depending on content. I also use a lot of hot keys in excel and PowerPoint, number pad, etc. keys register consistently, no double taps and everything seems very accurate.

Cons: Like other users, keys failed after some time. The letters are worn off the keys. Home row and popular keys are invisible.

I have had it go missing on occasion from the device list (not working) on boot up and maybe coming out of sleep (after a new OS load and before I disabled sleep). Unlike others, I always assumed that was my desktop USB network (Asus P6T Delux v1 and like four hubs with scanners, printers, cam, external daddy's, USB drives...) the keyboard is plugged into my dell monitor hub, so I just hit the power switch off/on the monitor and the keybd works again.

It is worse with windows 8. At the dual boot screen, My mouse (logitech MX Anywhere (silky org@sm)) or keyboard don't get recognized for like 20 seconds. That is around half the total boot up time.

Problem happened on Win7 too.

Other Thoughts: Ten years ago, I got the "white" version, probably the original. I still have it hooked up to a server that I almostly access remotely, but it still works. It is a bit more clickety than the new model, is dirty and yellowed from age.

About four years ago, I got my first one of these new black ones. It died of key failure - first the left shift key (hot keys). I figured maybe I was a little aggressive. I tried to live with it for a month, but it was driving me crazy and then another key failed. So now I am on the second one and somehow I have a brand new spare in the closet.

The second one is still working great, but as I said, letters are worn off.

I've tried the spare and it is only barely more "fresh". The second one is maybe slightly broken in, but maybe only in perception.

So after enough use to wear the letters off, the action is virtually the same.

Maybe I should have given it five stars. The worn letters perhaps could be etched or embedded, so the paint doesn't wear off and even if it did, still visible.
