4 out of 5 eggsNice but should have some bluetooth capabilities

Pros: compact and simple to set it up

Cons: the mouse concept is okay and need some practice, the material is slippery and does not sit well in the lap

4 out of 5 eggsNIce all in one

Pros: Nice, small keyboard for living room PC to start Netflix, order pizza, check email, etc. Can hold it in two hands and use right hand for pad and left hand to click, which is pretty cool to use while standing up. Also have one on my desk for my primary desktop, its small enough so doesn't take up space (although I don't use trackpack, use external mouse instead)

Cons: no "end" key, which I really miss (this is why no 5 eggs)

4 out of 5 eggsDecent product, decent price

Pros: Easy connection, no drivers to install, at least on Windows 8.1, very responsive.

Cons: Almost too light, not easy for someone with large hands & fingers, but for most people that probably is not an issue.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome keyboard for just the right purpose.

Pros: Although the keyboard portion isn't full-size, the tactile nature of the chiclet keys lend to easy no-look typing.

The touchpad is responsive.

The left-click mouse button on the left-hand side of the keyboard is a nice touch for two-handed thumb-only usage and feels natural after a few minutes.

At first I was turned off by the fact that the F1-F12 keys aren't default (you have to press the Fn key to use them as normal F-keys), but considering that this is intended as a 10-foot media experience keyboard, and using it as such, I realized that the media key defaults were very convenient.

On a more subtle note, the keys are contoured such that the lip on the bottom row of keys extends from the lower edge of the keys, and the top row has a lip that extends on the top - it seems like a small feature, but it really helps when you're feeling out keys in dim lighting conditions (which is where I first noticed the contours).

I would never buy this as a primary keyboard, but as a 10-foot experience keyboard I couldn't be happier, especially given the low price tag.

I was able to use it in a particularly 2.4GHz-noisy environment with no problems at the length of the room (about 23 feet).

The touchpad supports multi-touch gestures, which I have come to expect - it would have gotten 3 stars if pinch-zooming was too much for it to handle. :D

I'm not using it with a mobile device, but if I were, I noticed that it has an unexpected USB transceiver storage spot under the battery cover.

The texture of the plastics is medium.

All of this is without installing the downloadable custom configuration software - which I avoid with input devices where possible - but which would (according to documentation) allow an end-user to customize the extra keys.

Cons: The unit lacks a numpad. Sorry, 10-foot 10-key users (if they even exist!).

On a serious note, there are no indicator LED's for capslock/numlock/scroll lock functions. This would be a great addition, but isn't a deal-killer given the price.

Other Thoughts: I purchased this for a console at my business that needed wireless all-in-one capabilities and it has not disappointed. Everyone who has used it so far seems to find its features very naturally... which shocks me as an I.T. guy who is used to seeing people stumble around anything that isn't exactly what they're used to.

2 out of 5 eggsFair

Pros: Keyboard has small footprint and overall nice design. Fair & reasonable price point compared to the competition. Logitech K830 is more than double the cost.

Cons: Trackpad w/ integrated buttons is a nice concept, but poor execution. However, the biggest flaw is the keyboards inconsistent communication with the receiver. If you hold the keyboard in your lap, it communicates fine. We have a wooden stand in the living room and when placed on the stand, the keyboard has interference when communicating with the receiver. The result is only 5 of 10 keys registering or a skipping mouse cursor. My HTPC is only 5-6 feet away.

Other Thoughts: Remember, the primary purpose behind owning a wireless keyboard, or wired for that matter, is for it to work. If it cannot communicate and has interference issues, its useless to me.

1 out of 5 eggsTotal Garbage

Pros: Keyboard is ok, construction seems solid.

Cons: Just received this to replace a logitech k400, and I can't believe it is actually being sold.

That's how bad it is. It's almost offensive.

The trackpad is infuriating to use for two reasons.

1) You have to move almost a 1/2 inch before it responds on the screen, at which point it jumps to the spot. Makes positioning almost impossible.

2) The trackpad buttons register movement, so if you rest your thumb on them, the trackpad is constantly trying to pinch zoom when you move your finger.

The hassle of shipping this back to get a refund isn't even worth it. I'm incredibly disappointed in newegg for selling something that is essentially defective, and in MS for making it. And for anyone thinking I just got a bad unit -- check around online. The reviews all say the same thing -- this keyboard-mouse is garbage.

AVOID.

5 out of 5 eggsvery good for special uses

Pros: For specialty uses, this is a great keyboard. I use this in my hobby room, where space is at a premium. The range is good, and I have already spilled a half bottle of brew on it without any ill effect or stuck keys. (I did clean up right away, yet ruined other keyboards with a soda spill.) The keys are well formed with a positive feel.

Cons: There are some things many people would not like yet do not affect me....see other thoughts.

Other Thoughts: There are no risers for the keyboard, which if using for media or in my hobby room is a positive as they would get broken off sooner or later. There is no number pad, which again for media or my hobby room would be a negative and just take up more room anyway. The touch pad works pretty much as described and can eliminate the need for a mouse and performs the multi-gesture stuff in windows 8.1 just fine. The keys are a little tight to type a thesis but just fine for a emails etc. As a media or specialty keyboard as it is labeled it is a five. For a travel keyboard, it would also fuction quite well. For an everyday keyboard, I prefer the slightly curbed blutooth Microsoft keyboard.
