5 out of 5 eggsGreat Gaming Keyboard!

This review is from: Razer BlackWidow Ultimate Stealth Edition Elite Mechanical Gaming Keyboard

Pros: The Razer BlackWidow Ultimate Stealth Edition Keyboard is the best gaming keyboard I have ever owned. The backlighting options are very nice. You can adjust the brightness of them and have presets to switch to quickly if you need. You switch these presets via the "profiles". You can have up to 10 separate profiles (one for each number key). Each of these profiles can hold data for the backlight brightness, macros, and multiple other features. The macro functionality of the keyboard is very useful, particularly while gaming. I have a specific profile for a certain game I play a lot. This profile has macros used to buy weapons quickly at the start of the round instead of manually going through the menus. There are 5 default macro buttons on the left side of the keyboard; however, you can bind practically ANY key to do something you want it to through the Razer Synapse. Razer Synapse is the software that comes with the keyboard that allows you to set up profiles, macros, adjust brightness, as well as keep track of your keyboard's use. They have keyboard maps that show what keys you hit the most while playing certain games. This is helpful for analyzing your gameplay style. There is a "Gaming Mode" which can disable certain keys while you're gaming such as the Windows key, Alt-tab, etc. that can be annoying in the middle of a game. There's also a convenient usb port and mic/speaker port on the right side of the keyboard. This is nice if you want to plug in a headset or flash drive or something right in front of you. However, the downside to this is that it's right where I use my mouse so I don't personally use those ports, but it's a nice feature. Another nice feature of this keyboard is the amount of pressure it takes to hit each key. I can just barely press down on a key and it'll register. This is extremely convenient for typing quickly as well as gaming. The difference in speed of activation of these keys as opposed to another keyboard is quite different and makes you feel slightly more responsive than your opponents due to how quickly you activate things in game. These keys' responsiveness is all thanks to the new switches Razer came out with last year. They are like brown switches, but better! The keyboard is heavy and has rubber on the bottom which keeps it firm and in place so you don't accidentally move it. It feels very sturdy and is made of hard, slick plastic. Finally, The cables for the keyboard are braided and only separate at the end, but still have plenty of length to plug in to different parts of your PC. The cable itself is quite long and doesn't tangle which is nice.

Pros:
Backlight
Responsive keys
Extra USB, mic, and speaker port
Macro buttons
Ability to macro anything
Gaming Mode
Profiles
Razer Synapse
Razer switches
Sturdy/Heavy
Braided cable
Cable length

Cons: Cons:
Position of extra USB, mic, speaker ports?

That's the worst thing I could find...

Other Thoughts: All and all, a great gaming keyboard! 9.9/10

2 out of 5 eggsToo different for no reason

This review is from: Razer BlackWidow Ultimate Stealth Edition Elite Mechanical Gaming Keyboard

Pros: +heavy and solid construction

Cons: There are just too many little things that have been changed around to make this keyboard comfortable to use.

To start off, the key presses do not feel mechanical, the "stealth" keys actually feel like a $10 supermarket keyboard. Pressing them feel cheap. They do not give the same tactile feel a gaming keyboard should.

The next issue is a personal one, the macro keys on the left have me misjudging the edge of the keyboard and thus, misjudging where WASD is. But that might just be me being picky.

The biggest thing is that the keys are larger than any keyboard I've ever used. If you have giant hands this likely wont bother you, but I cannot stand it, nor my fiance. Its simply impossible to use after years of using other keyboards with a standardized set up.

To make matters worse, the function keys have all been moved over by one key, so if you are used to pressing them without looking, you will never push the one you need.

I'm not sure what is wrong with the esc key but I can never find it without looking.

Overall, too many little things completely ruin my experience with this keyboard. For that kind of money I should absolutely love the keyboard I am using, instead of wondering why the keys feel cheap and why I can never press the ones I want.

Other Thoughts: Manufacturers need a lesson on what the word "Intuitive" means. But maybe my hands are not what this keyboard is designed for. The cons listed will not apply to everyone, but I cannot stand them.

1 out of 5 eggsPoor Quality Control

This review is from: Razer BlackWidow Ultimate Stealth Edition Elite Mechanical Gaming Keyboard

Pros: Makes a nice paperweight.

Cons: After one day the keyboard has a fatal malfunction. Razer needs to increase their quality control budget is all i can say.

Other Thoughts: Spend your money elsewhere.

5 out of 5 eggsProfessional.

This review is from: Razer BlackWidow Ultimate Stealth Edition Elite Mechanical Gaming Keyboard

Pros: I have the keyboard LED on 2%. 100% is super bright, I find this really cool!!!! The keys are quiet to the frequent touch. Smooth feel during gameplay.

Cons: The keyboard buttons that use shift such as:

!@#$%^&*()_+ sound mute, sound down, sound up, sleep mode, monitor dim, monitor bright, <>?:"{}~

All these keys are non-light up! Meaning in the darkness of my room I can't see these keys. I personally can deal with it, but I'm actually disappointed in Razer for allowing this feature to be overlooked. Too bad ASUS doesn't make a keyboard like their fully lit up white LED light laptop designs.

The thick keyboard wire is a tad thick - however it has to be due to the keyboard controls, 5 macro keys, audio/microphone set up and the cool feature of a closer USB port build on the keyboard.

Other Thoughts: Overall I love this keyboard - yet I want all my keys to be lit up. I love the green LED, but it should be standard to switch to white LED.

4 out of 5 eggsGood Keyboard, some small issues

This review is from: Razer BlackWidow Ultimate Stealth Edition Elite Mechanical Gaming Keyboard

Pros: Price when on sale - Chroma model overpriced at the moment
Backlighting is dimmable
USB passthrough for mouse
Matte finish doesn't show fingerprints
Software is easy to use

Cons: You cannot turn off backlighting for individual keys, it's either all on or all off.
Headphone pass through emits a constant buzzing sound when no sound being played. Not noticeable while gaming though.
Mouse plugged into USB passthrough will randomly stop working; need to unplug and plug back in to correct issue.

Other Thoughts: Razer has a really good product here and I would recommend it. It does have some small issues but that doesn't stop me from recommending it to potential buyers. At $100 or less, this is a good value keyboard.

4 out of 5 eggsBad luck, getting one DOA. Blame the weather.

This review is from: Razer BlackWidow Ultimate Stealth Edition Elite Mechanical Gaming Keyboard

Pros: While I have had this for a while now, it was a rough waiting process. After having a DOA I finally got my replacement one and it works as I expected.

This is a Keyboard so there won't be too much to say.
1.Dimmable Green backlight
2.Software features are virtually top of all others
3.Mechanical keys, 45g resistance, durable
4.Options for headset input and USB feature
5.Thick strong chords
6.Plated connectors
7.Small in that it can fit on many small desks
8.Razer logo? It doesn't look bad
9.Slow, but existent customer support
10. Turns off lights when monitor is turned off by OS.

Cons: I found a lot of things I really disliked about this product, mainly these are personal based, but some of these I feel should have been obvious to have included..

1.Not all keys are fully backlit, if you're trying yo see !@#$%^ or :"{}?>< in the dark forget it... You have to know these by heart or struggle.

2. The keys are virtually squared and close together, not good for someone who has big hands. Coming from a Logitech G11 the keys were nicely sized and spaced to fit my hands. Though I probably should have expected this. Still uncomfortable and I constantly have my hands on the wrong keys at times.

3. The chord may be nice and thick, but it is also very hard and stiff and hard to manipulate to arrange it on a desk.

4. Glitchy software or hardware not sure, but it will occasionally cause my mouse to stop functioning on start up or when I plug it in, this never used to happen till got this and only seems to happen when the Keyboard software updates or starts or when it's plugged in. Causing my to unplug and plug my back mouse in.

5. The lighting indicators for CapsLock, ScrollLock and NumLock are dim, blurry, and ugly. Looking nothing like the picture indicated. This was the case for both keyboard I had.

6. First one came DOA with the 1 key spazzing out and spamming 1's everywhere it could or making the annoying windows ding noise rapidly.

7. When I think I silent... I think of rubberized caps, or padding under mechanical caps to soften or quiet the impact noise.. Rather, silent for Razer means there is no audible click actuation, which there still is to me, plus the really loud clack of the caps hitting the base of the keyboard... Far from silent....

8.No palm rest, for such a premium keyboard, even a $40 G11 that I got 6 years ago had one, and it was heaven. Lasted me till I need to replace it with this keyboard.

9.No cap removal tool to help ease cleaning of keyboard.

Other Thoughts: If it wasn't on sale for the price it was at, I probably would have never bought this keyboard. Mine was dying as the keyboard had more than lived its 10 million key press life span, so I needed a replacement.

I was bound to get a mechanical keyboard and I had heard good things about the Razer keyboards. I didn't want to switch from what I liked, but my choices and price options were limited.

The software for this keyboard is certainly nice and the keyboard itself it probably great for lots of people, but not particularly for me. I only took off one egg for the sum of the cons, but it's mainly just a keyboard and it functions as I need it to, though not as comfortably as I would have liked else I would give it 5 eggs despite the cons.

I also had a DOA, but it was very cold and I plugged it in while it was still warming up building up some condensation. Which may have caused it to short that key. Waited a day, and it was still broken, so NewEgg RMA came through with a replacement and this time I let it warm up and dry up first before plugging it in.

5 out of 5 eggsUpdate after using for a while

This review is from: Razer BlackWidow Ultimate Stealth Edition Elite Mechanical Gaming Keyboard

Pros: This keyboard is fantastic, honestly one of the best I've ever used, my friend owns the Black Widow Ultimate (not the stealth edition) and the only difference, as advertised, is the sound, the stealth is a lot quieter than the other, but there is no difference that I can tell between the two on the typing level. 5/5 eggs.

Cons: absolutely nothing.

5 out of 5 eggsAmazing!

This review is from: Razer BlackWidow Ultimate Stealth Edition Elite Mechanical Gaming Keyboard

Pros: This keyboard is very very good. I love everything about it. I received it as a Christmas present and it was actually the wrong one. I wanted the non Stealth Blackwidow because I like the like the clicky switches a lot more for that tactile feel. Instead, I received this one and have fallen in love with it. Razer's Orange switches are just fantastic. I'm kind of glad that I received the Stealth instead.

Cons: No cons at all.

Other Thoughts: Note: I would highly recommend this keyboard to anybody looking for a cost efficient mechanical gaming keyboard!
