Logitech G15 2-Tone 104 Normal Keys USB Wired Standard Gaming Keyboard

Buzz

Having owned both versions, the verdict is

5 out of 5 eggs
Soft keystroke feel, might be bad if you like clicky response. Software is adaptive and easy to program. Plenty of aftermarket ...

Sharp tools are prerequisites to do jobs, and gaming is no exception. The award-winning Logitech G15 gaming keyboard gives you the tactical advantage over your rivals with industry-leading innovations and guaranteed Logitech quality.

Logitech's G series gaming keyboard was one of the first to incorporate a LCD panel. This add-on provides unprecedented in-game information to speedup your decision and you no longer endeavor to flip through menu windows to locate your status. And you don't have to worry about your game is not supported by the G15. A great bunch of top titles are printed in the support list, including Age of Conan, America's Army, Battlefield 2142, Crysis, EverQuest, F.E.A.R., GTR, Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six, Warhammer and World of Warcraft. And more are about to kick off. So you purchase the G15, you purchase the future.

As a top-notch gaming gear, the G15 boasts illuminated characters with three adjustable brightness levels for easy locating of crucial command keys in mid-night, yet not harsh to your eyes. The no-learning-cure 104 key layout is complemented with 29 function keys, six of which are fully programmable. The six programmable G-keys positioned right under your left hand can be assigned to any keystroke on the keyboard or complex macro to execute runs of attacks upon your enemies. You can elaborately define G-key macros in G15 management software before the incoming campaign, or create a macro just in the middle of the battle and instantly launch it without any pause of the action. Focusing all on the gaming side improvements, the G15 is in deed a nuclear weapon in the hands of a serious gamer. It offers all the flexibility and power you could imagine, and the next question is – Are your skills qualified to go that violent?

  • newegg Informative GamePanel LCD With the Logitech-exclusive GamePanel LCD, access to in-game information and character status without switching between menus and windows that slow down your actions. The GamePanel LCD technology is widely supported by game manufacturers, so rest easy to enjoy GamePanel treatment on every top title.
  • newegg Illuminated Characters These illuminated key caps offer incredible visibility in both bright and low-light conditions. The 3-level adjustable backlighting makes even pitch-dark operation available possible without additional illumination.
  • newegg Six Programmable G-keys Assign any keystroke or series of commands to the six programmable G-keys at the left of the keyboard for one-press ease to execute complex attacks in the fierce battles. The Logitech G15 allows you to create macros on the fly in game, so you can flexibly alter your maneuvers as the enemies change theirs.
  • newegg Intelligent Cable Management The Logitech G15 effectively keeps mouse, headset and other cords out of the way by routing them through channels on the underside of the keyboard.
  • newegg Detachable Palm Rest The detachable palm rest provides excellent support and increases comfort, especially good when gaming sessions get extended.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Keyboard - owned for 4-5years

Pros: -Programmable Keys with 3 different sets
-Lockable windows bar (hate accidentally pressing that thing)
-Keys light up and press smoothly ( havent had a key go out on me yet and I've had this thing for a Long time)
-LCD screen is AMAZINGLY helpful if used properly...and even the standard screen is nice to have.
-Durable, Ive dropped this thing SOOO many times and NOTHING has gone wrong with it!
-One amazing freaking gaming keyboard for the price...

Cons: No extra keys for like: Internet, Calculator, ect...but idc about that...
The usb ports are almost useless being 1.0 BUT they did help me save a friends computer since all but 1 USB ports were down and he needed a fix. But they cant charge anything :/
The space bar holders underneath are a little weak so u have to be careful when removing it to clean...i broke 1 but its no biggy still works fine.
other than that...nothing...NOTHING!

Other Thoughts: I have had this thing for around 4-5 YEARS!...not months YEARS! It has survived all the elements from being stored in hot environments to falling off of high places! And not so much as a malfunction in any of the keys.

I use this wondrous keyboard EVERY DAY basically for those 4-5 years...I am astonished that a keyboard has lasted this long! I don't know if I merely got the good egg in the bunch but a couple of my friends have also had them for a good amount of time.

There are better keyboards now but I would recommend this to ANYONE looking for a decent gaming keyboard that isn't overpriced and is great quality.

Logitech I salute you for your keyboard which has been with me for so long and has just kept going!

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Great keyboard I game several hours everyday sometimes up to 12-14 hours some days. I bought this keyboard on 9/18/2008 and it is now 1/12/2012 and its still working like a dream. I have not had one single problem with it. With a little maintenance and some occasional cleaning it is by far the best keyboard i have ever owned. Most keyboards would only last me 6-8 months due to the mere fact that i wore them out gaming and coding.

Cons: NONE AT ALL

1 out of 5 eggsNot worth the money

Pros: The backlight is red.

Cons: It's too big
Keys double-strike, especially the "t"
Too much reflection off of keys, can't read often from glare caused by normal lighting on my desk.
Keys always look greasy even when clean
Backlight isn't bright enough, even on the brighter setting
The little screen on the keyboard is a total waste

G keys wortthless and take up space making keyboard larger than it needs to be
GamePanel Devices not accesible in Windows SideShow Control Panel as suggested
Volume control not fluid enough, jerky settings, either ttoo loud or too soft
usb plug ins only work for non-powered units

Other Thoughts: Started acting up a week after warranty was off. I gott it because it looked nice and the reviews at the time were mostly good, but having owned it now for a year, I wouldn'tt recommend one.
The double striking of the "t" key is really irritating, I'm always having to check for spelling errors on documentts now.
(I left in all the times it did it justt on this review)

2 out of 5 eggsExtra useless junk =/= quality

Pros: See cons..

Cons: I forgot to mention since I ran out of room on my first review, if you plan on using the 2 usb jacks for anything above maybe a input device then you're out of luck. These ports only run at usb v1.0. You won't have enough power to run say an Iphone or a webcam etc.
Also the current v7 software is bunk. It's older brother aka the legacy software runs much more stable on Vista 64.

Other Thoughts: I gave it one less egg this time.. I almost forgot how bad this thing actually is. Please don't waste your money.

3 out of 5 eggsEh, bells & whistles =/= quality

Pros: This is decent keyboard with some features that are absolutely key to a good gaming setup such as extra keys to bind stuff to on the left side, the main keys feel great to the touch when you first buy it (aka when they work well), and has media keys (also when they work well - which is never is this case - read cons)

Cons: Picking up where I left off from pros my main concern with this kb is the key design including the media keys.
The main keys are a very cheap design to say the least. The rubber membrane material used for key rebound and the thin plastic contact curcuit boards are flimsy at best and wear out very fast if you are using this for a good bit of gaming.
As far the media keys go, forget it. They are far worse than the main keys. As other people have said they are very flimsy and these little guys performed badly rite out of the box. I have broken my volume keys with no excessive force on both of these that I have owned. Be prepared to use those awesome macro keys to fix it..

Other Thoughts: I have owned several Logitech products in the past and I'll be the first to tell you that most of it's just a bag of tricks. You don't need an lcd. Ask yourself what you really need displayed on your kb that your pcs interface doesnt already tell you all the while you have to look down at your kb which I doubt many of us have had to do since we first learned to type. If you can find a use for it great. But I've owned 2 of these being hooked on it's shininess and all over about 2 years and still havn't found a solid use for the lcd.
The macros are pretty bunk too if you don't need to bind ultra custom combo macros. Most of us including myself should be content with a kb with good media controls, good solid keys and extra gaming buttons to just bind one action to each, imho.
All in all this kb is not worth what you pay for. I'd say it would be a "decent" kb for maybe 45-50 bucks. Don't be fooled by all the bells and whistles. Most of the "extras" you can't even remotely find a use for.

4 out of 5 eggsQuality keyboard

Pros: Nice tactile feedback and firm keys. Backlighting is nice and clear. LCD screen is cool. Plug-ins for Core Temp, FRAPS, and most games with give unique information. Haven't tried the macro keys.

Cons: LCD screen is nice, but kind of a gimic. Could do without it.

Other Thoughts: My rig:

5 out of 5 eggsWorking As Intended

Pros: I love this keyboard. I bought it in January 2008 and it is now June of 2011 and I am in the market of a new keyboard. Not because it is dead but just because I want one of the new ones!

The display is low tech but useful. I don't use it for a lot of programs but its functionality with Ventrilo is amazing.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Great product by a great company.

1 out of 5 eggsFragile

Pros: Great well round gaming, web development keyboard. lots of features such as programable keys.

Cons: The feet that hold up the key board are very fragile, and broke. I called Logitech Sales on 3/19/2011 and they do not sell replacement feet and suggested i buy a new key board. i am insulted that they do not sell replacement parts, and i will have to "Mickey Mouse" some kind of work around. I usually buy logitech products in general, but now i am questioning if that is a good idea since they are fragile, and do not sell replacement parts.

1 out of 5 eggsif you think its cool, your just a fool

Pros: it shows CPU and ram, thats all.

Cons: Horrible keys, not good for crysis 2, crysis, or any sort of game... it sucks horribly, it lags and hangs, its just flat out bad. G15, thats probably "generation 1, prototype 5". stupid logitech can't make keyboards. they make good mouses, but suck at everything else... besides their mic's.

Other Thoughts: 1 THOUGHT I have is that I can't give it a ZERO egg... or a negative -3 egg... sad.. :'(
