4 out of 5 eggsGreat wireless keyboard/touchpad

Pros: Great range, battery life and price. Having an on/off switch has greatly extended the battery life.

Cons: None so far

3 out of 5 eggsIt has its uses

Pros: Small size and included thumb pad makes it great for HTPC builds.
Love the left mouse button added to the top left portion of the keyboard it makes moving and resizing windows far easier.
Included USB range extender (even though I don't need to use it)

Cons: Feels like cheap plastic in your hands with little weight.
No illumination on the key pad.
No included software, and Logitech's broad device software does nothing useful, most functions are not usable.

Other Thoughts: It does a good job as a HTPC remote, but lacks illumination that would be useful in a dark room. Would love to see more wireless devices like this specifically for HTPC use this size.

4 out of 5 eggsInteresting product

Pros: I like the wireless keyboard. It is convenient with an HTPC I put together. The system is running Ubuntu and Windows 7.

Cons: It is sometimes refusing to work. I had to disconnect and reconnect the dongle. It is possible that my phone or router may have interfered with the signal. Hard to say. I made changes with my wifi management in my house. The keyboard has been good ever since.

2 out of 5 eggsonly one problem

Pros: Light, thin, compact

Cons: there is no way to turn off the track pad. I mean all they had to do is offer a disable feature whether hardware or software. This is annoying because my pinkie or side of the palm of my hand barely touch sometimes and as I am writing the cursor clicks somewhere and messes up what im typing.

Placement of arrow keys next to shift is a bad idea. Most people are used to a bigger shift key and will accidentally tap up and wonder why they are typing somewhere else

Other Thoughts: I hate this keyboard. Only gave it a 2 because its a good all in one keyboard for sitting on the couch or in bed. not a good daily keyboard

4 out of 5 eggsHTPC Living Room Friendly

Pros: 1. Logitech generally has good quality products. This is the second one of these Keyboards I have purchased and both work well overall.
2. Full keyboard + Trackpad and media buttons all work well. I particularly like the "Left-click" button on the left side of the keyboard so I can navigate the desktop while standing without moving my hands around.
3. Cost - I found my first one for under $30 on special and my second one for just over that.
4. Power efficiency is terrific. We make sure to switch it off when the HTPC is not in use (Pretty much only at night) and in almost a year we have yet to replace the AA batteries that came with it.
5. If you use other Logitech devices, the USB wireless dongle that comes with this can be used to sync a bunch at a time, minimizing dongle clutter.
6. Lightweight - very comfortably held and light but not flimsy

Cons: My only real gripe with the keyboard is the 2.4Ghz signal is easily interrupted. Even with direct Line-Of-Sight the signal can be stuttered if you have lots of wireless signals in that band or the dongle is too close to the HTPC case. Logitech provides an extender to move the dongle about 2 inches from the USB port, but that defeats the idea of having a dongle flush with the HTPC and I constantly worry about it breaking off due to incidental contact.

I removed an EGG as it really hurts the functionality of the device in a living room. I have the dongle attached to a USB extender cable and completely away from the housing, but like I said, I want the HTPC to be tucked away and having to add a cable for single continuity is cluttered and an eyesore.

For the price, I cannot really complain too much, hence, a single egg.

Other Thoughts: A note to Logitech: This product would be essentially perfect at this pricepoint if the signal issue was not a problem. Perhaps a bluetooth version of this keyboard would be better, or a 5Ghz band perhaps. Ideally I don't want to have to configure anything to get the signal right and I would be willing to pay a little more to make sure.

Otherwise - strong product at this price.

5 out of 5 eggsLogitech K400 USB RF Wireless Standard Keyboard

Pros: A little big for a living room media keyboard but very responsive and decent sized touch pad. Farthest I’ve been from the transmitter is 15’ and not through any walls but it has never glitched out on me. It’s about a wide as my 17” laptop so it’s easy enough to type on. I like it for a media keyboard but I would not use it as a standard keyboard. Just not big enough for constant usage.

Cons: To small for use as main PC keyboard

4 out of 5 eggsGood for my usage

Pros: Very light, good build quality, decent range, great battery life, keys and touchpad feel pretty good

Cons: Touchpad isn’t the most accurate, left and right mouse buttons aren’t super-reliable, range could be better, Alt-F4 (+Fn) doesn’t work to close windows?

Other Thoughts: Using this from the couch works pretty well, though if you are just over 15ft/5m away, it starts to miss or delay some inputs. Has to have line of sight to the receiver, or it will miss/delay input. Great for what I use it for – love the media keys at the top.

5 out of 5 eggsFirst wireless keyboard

Pros: Perfect size for my intended use (HTPC)
On/Off switch
Responsive
Lightweight

Cons: Will take a little bit of effort to get used to the funky right shift key size. A built-in scroll wheel would have been nice, but I knew it didn't have it going in.

Other Thoughts: I took my time researching wireless keyboards, and this one is definitely a winner. Plug & play, no need for the included extender (the KB in my lap is about 5 or 6 feet away from the PC). Plugged into the front USB 2.0 port of my newly-built HTPC, zero problems! Since the mobo has a wake-on-lan feature, I can use the keyboard to turn the thing on! On/Off switch is an excellent feature, looking forward to seeing just how long the batteries will last. Stop looking, go ahead and get this one.
