5 out of 5 eggsFollow Up Review

Pros: This is the follow up to my first impression. I have owned the keyboard just over six weeks now since the time of my purchase.

- Every LED continues to work

- Every key functions they way it should

- The paint has yet to ware off on any of the keys

Every pro from the previous review still applies here

Cons: - I still hate the palm rest. It's flimsy and made out of a cheap plastic. Small plastic clips under the keyboard keep it held in place when lifted.

Poor design in my opinion. Considering how much this keyboard costs and the quality of everything else. It's a shame.

Other Thoughts: I still keep both USB's in my 3.0 ports in my motherboard. Even though one is just a pass through for another device to be plugged into the keyboard.

The issue could with LED's for some people could be that issue, or just faulty set. It's possible that the first few runs of these sets of keyboards have been poorly manufactured as well. More recent Newegg reviewers seem to agree that their keyboard works the way it was intended.

I think it could be possible that lower quality motherboards are overpowering the keyboard and burning out the lights. That is purely speculative though. Don't take my word for it.

That's about it. Everything else is still the same from what I have previously said. It is a great keyboard, just get it when it's on sale.

P.S.

Sorry for the grammatical errors in my previous review. You do know, it was a new keyboard and all...

:D

Enjoy your g710+ people. I still am.

1 out of 5 eggsdefective keys

Pros: I like the cherry brown mechanical switches. They are fairly quiet, but far from silent. The keyboard layout seems pretty good.

Cons: Several keys were non-functional out of the box. This is a non-starter. I am not having the LED problems other users report.

Other Thoughts: I bought this to replace a fifteen dollar keyboard I bought many years ago that still works fine. It didn't even work out of the box. Not good.

4 out of 5 eggsHad a few days

Pros: As advertised, quieter keystrokes than other mechanical keyboards I've used, and still has the good impact 'feel'. Love the keyboard layout, the audio keys, and the macros. They're above what I expected them to be able to do, including timings, etc.

Volume up/down scrubber feels good, and the next song//previous song works with spotify

Cons: Lowering the brightness of the keys also does not lower the brightness of the num lock light/capslock/scrollock lights.

Takes up 2 USB slots, may not be a big deal to most because I just plugged my mouse's usb into the keyboard's 1 slot usb.

Keys feel a little too 'plasticy'

Other Thoughts: Tested on a PC, Win7.

Took some reading the booklet to understand exactly how the macros work work.

4 out of 5 eggs2nd Unit

Pros: This keyboard looks great and feels great. It has Cherry MX Brown switches, which are the best feeling mechanical key to me. Not too loud, and still has a little bit of tactile feedback when pressed. The white LED back lighting looks awesome, It is super bright on the highest setting. I don't use any of the macro features of the keyboard except that I set the G6 key to mute my Teamspeak, but its cool to have the option should I need it. It is mandatory for my keyboard to have volume control and media keys, and this has both.

Cons: I had to RGA my first G710+ after just 2 months due to a bad "U" key. It just stopped working. I received a brand new replacement from Logitech in about 2 weeks. Also, I have had zero issues with the LED lights.

Other Thoughts: Overall its a great board, and I think my issue was just a fluke. But I'm putting this out there for buyer awareness. One egg off for possible quality issues.

5 out of 5 eggssolid keyboard

Pros: -Looks beautiful
-Sturdy and heavy
-No dead LED lights so far
-Quiet for a mechanical keyboard

Cons: Just like any new keyboard, it took a while for me to get adjusted to typing and using it, but once you get used to it its no problem :)

Other Thoughts: I was worried about buying this keyboard because people were saying that the LED backlights were unreliable and stopped working but everything looks good so far! Very happy with my purchase

5 out of 5 eggsExcelent Keyboard

Pros: Good quality for a keyboard.
Simple, practical layout, the standard mechanical keyboard.
Nice key lighting.
Excelent for gaming.

Cons: Space bar feels little awkward, but that a thing of getting used to, no biggy.

Other Thoughts: If you are a gamer and looking for a keyboard, then this is the one you need.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent Keyboard (First impression)

Pros: Please Read: I've been looking around the newegg reviews in conjunction with professional reviews and I found a strong difference in opinions. A lot of the reviews posted on websites such as Anandtech and gadget review are giving it great reviews. While a lot of people here are complaining about faulty parts.

I've had the keyboard for about a week now and posting this review or "impression" earlier then I would to talk about "DOA".

As far as my keyboard is going, everything works flawlessly. No dying LED's, every key registers. Another review posted below that running both usb's into usb 2.0's might over power the led's in some motherboards. To be safe, I have both usb outputs in usb 3.0 slots on my board. I will post another review in a few months to let you guys know if it does give out over time.

Pros:

Great tactile feedback. Every key feels great while not being really "clicky". It's more of a clack. Hard to explain but in short, the sound it produces is not as high pitched or irritating as other mechanical keyboards.

LED lighting is phenomenal. On the highest setting, it can be quite bright. Almost to bright for me. I usually keep it on setting "3" or "2".

Multimedia options are a great feature. A lot of other boards don't include simple options such as a volume controller.

Macro tools work as expected. I believe you can set them without running any software. Since I was not sure how to map the keys manually, I downloaded Logitech's keyboard software from their site. It's a great program and you can setup multiple profiles. Up top are 3 dedicated keys for macro sets so you can have G1-G6 under M1 do certain tasks while keys G1-G6 under M2 can do something completely different. Effectively, you have 18 macro keys.

In addition, if you are running that software, you can setup folders for programs and games. So lets say I launch Battlefield 3. That will load up its own profile where I can set 18 macro's just for that. Once I exit the program, or alt tab out, it uses my desktop profile. Very beneficial and efficient software.

Build quality is fantastic. The keyboard weighs more then most. Giving it a good beefy feel. It's hard to apply torsion to it.

Color scheme is very nice as well. Some people hate the orange part but I like a little contrast in my computer components. It's completely subjective though. There is a glossy component around the keys but you will never hit it. It's quite difficult to get finger prints unless you go out of your way to smudge it up.

Ascetically its perfect to me. Sharp angles, the tilt is just enough with the legs up, great paint finish all around.

Cons: Palm rest is a bit flimsy. If you were to lift up the keyboard, it just dangles around. Older keyboards I have owner have never done this. They usually locker further into place so that this still keep some rigidity.

Sound dampening can be improved. It's the quietest mechanical keyboard I have tried thus far but not by a huge margin. Maybe thicker o-rings around the keys could improve this? I'm not sure how much that would effect the integrity of the key presses but im sure more could be done.

Other Thoughts: It would of been nice if it came with extra WASD and Arrow keys. I don't really like the grey colour scheme for that.

I highly recommend this board thus far, and will follow up with a review in the up coming month under the same nickname.

4 out of 5 eggsHigh Quality Board - Legit Backlight Problems

Pros: This is a very solid board. It is heavy and sturdy, doesn't slide around on my desk like cheaper lighter keyboards do. The MX Browns feel very nice to me and it's not -too- loud, then again loudness is a subjective matter.

The media keys and slider are very nice, the G keys are handy and can be programmed to make up for some of the missing media keys (search, email, etc) if you need them.

Got a mechanical board because I was tired of wearing out keyboards in under a year due to extensive use, I am a programmer by trade and use the computer a lot. This one seems very solid and should last a long time.

I love this board overall and it would get a solid 5 stars if not for the backlight problems mentioned below.

Cons: The backlight problems with this board -are- real as many other reviewers have said. Was hoping I would get lucky with mine and had my WASD + Arrow cluster fail within 15 minutes of plugging it in lol.

They came back on briefly about 20 minutes later then died again for a week, then came back on seemingly for good.. just as as the 0 - page up keys went out lol. I was already in the RMA process at this point however.

Got Logitech to do an advance RMA that didn't cost me anything. The replacement has been fine for a week now. *knocks on wood*

Aside from the lights not working, the lighting is not 100% even across the board, I'ts not a huge con but would approve the looks of the board. It's pretty even but not all of the text on some larger keys is lit and such.

I am not sure this could be 100% solved without including 2 LED's per key, one on top and one on bottom as the central part support of the key blocks the light from reaching the lower areas.

Other Thoughts: The keyboard -does not- require both USB cables.

The one with the Logitech logo on it is for the keyboard and lights the 2nd is simply a USB pass through cable. I have mine unplugged and it works fine.

3 out of 5 eggsHigh quality, LOUD

Pros: High quality keys, and build. The key LEDs are in 2 zones - WASD and the rest, with 4 brightness levels. This is also a fairly attractive keyboard, with a pretty nice wrist rest. The USB port on the back side of the keyboard makes up for the fact that you need to occupy 2 USB ports on the computer. This is where I've got my mouse attached.

Cons: The NumLck/ScrollLck/CAPS indicator lights are very bright (same as maximum for the key lights). Also, the keys seem pretty noisy, and negate my overall goal of having a silent PC.

Other Thoughts: I haven't fallen in love with this keyboard yet, but I'm going to stick with it for a while - perhaps it will grow on me. I've got a wireless solar keyboard, also from Logitech, that has quiet keys. It's not a gaming keyboard, but I find it functional enough, and it's quite a bit quieter.

1 out of 5 eggsyeah, just dont buy it...

Pros: it is a keyboard and it types.

Cons: when trhe reviews say the lights will arrive DOA take them seriously, the lights are just going to be dead, dont expect yours to arrive any different. it it looks lit, give it an hour of casual typing. they'll flicker and die right before you eyes. and when they do you cant see the keys. so if you want a dark keyboard with broken lights, sure, buy this keyboard.

if you want a backlit keyboard that doesn't flicker or fail on you the first day you own it, do not waste your money. this thing weighs a ton so shipping it back is going to cost you more than it would if you just bought one at a local shop and get ripped off, because you WILL be taking this back for another, and another, and another. what you lose at retail you save in shipping the returns.

do NOT buy if you want a working, fully functional product.

Other Thoughts: i am a faithful logitech customer, and they have completely failed with this product.

again, do NOT buy this keyboard.
