4 out of 5 eggsGreat keyboard, especially for the price

This review is from: Logitech G710 Plus Mechanical USB Gaming Keyboard

Pros: -Great features with the scrolling volume control, adjustable lighting on the keyboard without having to go into the Logitech software, and the location of the programmable keys as well as the F keys.

-Well thought out and easy interface to set up the programmable keys. Software is pretty simplistic but flexible enough to let you do a myriad of things.

-The mechanical keys are a dream! I never thought there would be that much of a difference, but now I bring my G710 to work just to use it since my work membrane keyboard feels weird, slow and squishy.

Cons: The keys were shrunk compared to a normal keyboard, so getting used to typing on this key board has had a bit of a learning curve. Especially if you switch between a keyboard at work and at home (which I do). At first the closer keys were only slightly noticeable, but I have large fingers and this became more apparent with continued use. After enough time I don't really notice it anymore, but this was enough of a change for me to dock one star.

-If you hunt and peck, the period, colon, question mark, quotation, bracket, and backslash key icons are switched with their "shift" equivalents compared to a regular keyboard. So the question mark is on the bottom and the forward slash is on the top, when they are reversed for other keyboards. This isn't a big deal if you don't look at a keyboard as you type, but if you hunt and peck this is going to cause some serious confusion.

Other Thoughts: I figured there was some truth to the hype about Cherry max mechanical keys, but I didn't realize how much I would love it. I love it so much that I am on the verge of paying for another keyboard to use at work.

This is an awesome keyboard, but you definitely need a little extra room on your desk for the size of the keyboard, and if you have large fingers expect a little time getting used to the keys (its not a huge impact, but noteworthy).

For the price it is a solid, well laid out, and good looking piece of hardware. If you really need LCDs that change color or additional programmable keys, you're going to have to spend a lot more for just a few extra features.

5 out of 5 eggsNice keyboard

This review is from: Logitech G710 Plus Mechanical USB Gaming Keyboard

Pros: Quiet for a mechanical keyboard it's comfortable the LED's are kinda cool not as nice as rgb but still nice. Haven't had any issues yet. Feels quality and not cheap. The usb pass through is nice to.

Cons: The palm rest is kind of hard to install but I haven't taken it off since I put it on. I highly recommend using the palm rest. I found it a little uncomfortable without it. Might just be up to preference.

Other Thoughts: Highly recommend. I bought one else ware because the one that came with my computer broke so I couldn't wait on shipping. When I built my new computer though I didn't hesitate picking up this keyboard again on newegg.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat Mechanical Keyboard

This review is from: Logitech G710 Plus Mechanical USB Gaming Keyboard

Pros: Heavy so it doesn't slide across my desk.
Palm rest which everyone claims be be cheap. Feels solid to me.
Key are very quiet and responsive. I got the brown switches.

Cons: Software. No one likes bloatware just to be able to use macro keys.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Keyboard

This review is from: Logitech G710 Plus Mechanical USB Gaming Keyboard

Pros: So far this keyboard has been great. The keys are a lot quieter than some other mechanical keyboards I've heard but you still get that feedback from the keys so you know you've pressed it. Dual lighting is great, the audio roller is a nice addition, and the USB 2.0 port is perfect for my mouse.

Cons: This con is only a preference issue thus I'm not removing an egg for this. The G keys (macros) are awesome but I just wish the border surrounding the keys weren't orange. It should have been the light blue color scheme that Logitech uses for it's other gaming peripherals which would have matched my rig that much more...but oh well, first world problems I guess.

4 out of 5 eggs

This review is from: Logitech G710 Plus Mechanical USB Gaming Keyboard

Pros: Typing feels great. Keys seem a little closer together compared to other keyboards.. might be ideal for gaming but for typing your hands feel a little bunched, so not a fan.

Cons: the "shift" designations on keys are reversed..with the default on top and the shift keys indicated below. Odd design choice.. plus the alternate keys are not lit up with LEDs like the rest of the keys.. makes finding symbols a little more difficult.

Other Thoughts: Overall, good buy.. if you can get it on sale.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat Board but Not Durable

This review is from: Logitech G710 Plus Mechanical USB Gaming Keyboard

Pros: Great Board build, high quality everything all over the board and plenty of options for game mode, keyboard lighting effects, volume scroll wheel is perfect, G keys are actually useful in MMO games, different profiles for games, and the logitech software is really easy to use making mapping keys a breeze. Very good board and worth the price if you pick it up for under 80 bucks.

Cons: For a Gaming keyboard, the keys are not very durable. Gamers are notorious for pressing keys hard and fast and this keyboard has some poorly supported keys. I broke my C key during normal use and had to superglue the supports on the bottom of the key to get it working again. The circlular supports on the bottom of the key are supposed to support the key but it really doesn't do its job. Be nice to the board and have some superglue handy. The bottom half of the key does not light up, but if you know your keystrokes then looking for the < > buttons won't be a problem since the , . buttons are lit.

Other Thoughts: Very competitive marketplace and there are better boards out there, but this one is good value and competes in speed and functions.

3 out of 5 eggsDisappointed in keys caps and spacing.

This review is from: Logitech G710 Plus Mechanical USB Gaming Keyboard

Pros: Love the volume control. Keys action is very nice.

Cons: Characters on keys are way too small. Hard to see. Characters that you hold the shift and unless you turn up the lights of the keyboard they are difficult to see because they are poorly backlighted.

Keys are spaced a little too far apart for me. I have to look down way too often to reach a upper/lower row of keys.

The lights for the Caps Lock, Num Lock, Scroll Lock and Windows Key Lockout are way to bright along the edge that faces you. I had to take a black marker to them to cut them down.

Front edge of the keyboard is way to high. They give you this ramp with these plastic clips. Like those will never break off some day. Ramp is wider than I realized. Not that comfortable.

Other Thoughts: very disappointed in this keyboard because of the key caps primarily. Doesn't feel very comfortable to type on because of the bottom edge and ramp. I've tried with and without.

I am thinking about returning this and going back to my G15

4 out of 5 eggsNice But Odd

This review is from: Logitech G710 Plus Mechanical USB Gaming Keyboard

Pros: Backlights are amazing and adjustable. Adjustable volume control and mute button is nice. O-rings on each key make them surprisingly quiet. Nice overall.

Cons: Key markings for all dual function keys are reversed! For example: the comma, period and slash symbols are all on the top of the key instead of the bottom like every other keyboard ever made. This is confusing because you think you should press the shift key to get those symbols, but you don't have to. When you type you get the same symbol as any other keyboard. Its looks like a design mistake that got through, but it may be because the backlight LED is located at the top of each key and they wanted the main key function to be illuminated better. The should have put the LED on the bottom of the key and made the layout normal.
The Gray keys are reflective and have low contrast so its hard to see the small letters on them. I am not a touch typist and have to leave their backlight on low or I can't make them out.
Each key has its own LED, so two USB connectors are required for the additional current. The dual USB cable is very thick and cumbersome.
The NUM, CAP and SCROLL lock indicators are too bright and not adjustable.
The O-rings take away from the crispness of the keyboard. I have a Rosewell (also with Cherry MX Brown keys) and it feels more precise and crisp, but much LOUDER. The O-Rings can be removed if you have a few hours to kill.
The left side of the keyboard has a sharp edge as the upper and lower halves don't mate perfectly. Maybe its just on mine.

Other Thoughts: I don't like the orange boarder on the programmable keys. It would be nice if it could be removed as it doesn't blend in at the office.
