1 out of 5 eggsWorst keyboard I've ever owned

This review is from: Logitech G710 Plus Mechanical USB Gaming Keyboard

Pros: Sturdy and heavy

Cons: Everything. It does not work right. Every key either:

- Doesn't respond
- Responds 2/3/4 times to one keystroke
- Sometimes a keystroke on a certain key produces a keystroke from a key I didn't press. IE: press J and it produces a P. Doubleyoo Tee EFF!!!!!

Some keys require extreme pressure to register a keystroke. Left ALT, left CTRL, left shift, space, Z, X, C and probably even more.

Absolute nightmare to type on. I type 70wpm, but certainly not with this keyboard. Not when I have to backspace every two seconds to fix typo's I didn't make.

Gaming is also a nightmare. This keyboard has caused more deaths than I can keep track of.

Lighting is uneven and color temperature of LED's is also uneven. Some have a purple hue. Some have a green hue.

Capslock/numlock LED indicators are too bright. I had to cover them with tape.

Other Thoughts: I've had $5 thrift shop keyboards of higher quality. I am one backspace away from smashing this thing on concrete and going back to old school keyboards. This thing isn't worth $20. Save yourself money and time by skipping on this sad excuse of a mechanical keyboard and buying something that actually works.

4 out of 5 eggsMy main Keys

This review is from: Logitech G710 Plus Mechanical USB Gaming Keyboard

Pros: Adjustable brightness back-light, WASD and arrows keys and/or the whole keyboard.
Lets you know when a key is really pressed with tactile and audio
Programmable G-Keys

Cons: There was an additional loose LED light underneath one of my keys. This made the key feel very strange and hard to press down. It must of fallen down on accident in the assembly process. I Fixed it by removing the key and just picked up the loose LED light by what you would do to normally clean underneath your keys.
The shift keys are NOT back-lighted: !@#$%^&*()_+{}:"<>? are all painted Silver on the keys.

1 out of 5 eggsNice keyboard, poorly constructed.

This review is from: Logitech G710 Plus Mechanical USB Gaming Keyboard

Pros: - white backlight with adjustable brightness for two zones.
- comfortable keys

Cons: - Made out of cheap materials.
- Poor customer service.
- I am in no way hard on my keyboards. I've had many cheap keyboards last me as long as I cared to keep them. Not a single key on a single one of those keyboards in 20 years of computing have ever just simply broken while gaming. Until now. $130 mechanical keyboard? The "A" key simply breaks off its sitting cross pillar with bits and pieces left in the keyboard.
- Now try and get customer service to replace one key. ONE KEY. You can mail it in an envelope. No they say your keyboard is of limited warranty because it was purchased "refurbished". 6 months this keyboard lasted. BUYER BEWARE. And Logitech SHAME ON YOU. You may have poor quality control but you start dying as a company when you refuse to honor simple service requests.

5 out of 5 eggsLogitech's Main Battle Tank Keyboard

This review is from: Logitech G710 Plus Mechanical USB Gaming Keyboard

Pros: STURDY BUILD - Seriously this thing is a freaking TANK, in fact the World of Tanks Chieftain drove a 15 ton tank destroyer over a G710+ in a test video, it popped the keys off, but once they were reattached it still worked! Not kidding here, the video is on Youtube, and once you get to put your hands on one of these you will know its not a joke.

Cherry MX Brown Switches - The "Brown" switches are still 100% mechanical, they just do not make all of those sometimes dubbed "annoying" loud clicking sounds, they really do give you a solid feeling when typing and the noise they make is not nearly as audible as Cherry MX Blues or Reds, in fact its only slightly louder than standard membrane keyboards, its definitely a good compromise.

Removable Palm/Hand rest - Lots of keyboards both High end and low end have palm/hand rests, some are not removable and just end up permanently eating up desk space and some are not that well made and leave you wishing you could use a 3rd party quality gel or memory foam rest. This is not the case with the G710+. while it is only a plastic surface, its a very very high quality plastic surface that almost feels like it has rubber lining on it, its very well textured, and it does feel rather nice. Is it the nicest? No. Is it average, No. The palm rest on a 1-5 scale is about a 3.8-4 at best, but it is 100% REMOVABLE, so if you don't like it, don't use it, get a 3rd party rest, east, and done!

Back Lighting - I will delve into the color in the cons section, here I will refer to the lighting quality. This is not some cheapo LED light bar trickery that many of the low end back-lit keyboards use, the keys are all individually lit with a very bright (if used on the brightest setting) LED. There are 2 keys at the top of the board that allow you to adjust the brightness setting of the LED's, one key sets the brightness of the WASD & Arrow Keys, the other controls the rest of the keys on the board. I LOVE this feature, its great for gaming, especially in FPS games, and there are no function combinations to press, its really simple and intuitive.

If you like to set macro's and profiles on your keyboard for MOBA's or other functions/programs/games then this keyboard does not disappoint. While it does not feature 20+ function keys, its does keep them streamlined and it does have 3 different memory profiles for those keys so in theory you have the effectiveness of 18 function bindings available.

The Media bar worked flawlessly for me in Windows 7 64-Bit Pro without the use of a Logitech driver, and the volume "roller" has a rubberized center which feels great and works perfectly.

There is also a "game mode" toggle at the top center of the keyboard which disables the Windows popup button which I still sometimes accidentally hit while gaming, and with "game mode" activated it will no longer minimize the game/program when that button is hit.

The cable is not braided, but it is thick even at the ends, and its all high quality. There are 2 USB 2.0 connectors, one powers the keyboard they other is a bypass which activates the port in the front of the keyboard which can be used to connect a mouse, headset, flash drives/external drives, ect.... I personally use it to connect my Kingston Hyper X Cloud headset and it works beautifully.

Anti-Ghosting - Yep all of the keys are anti-ghosted, no random reads or presses, just a solid well built keyboard.

26 Key Rollover (part 1) - yep on the "main keys" you can simultaneously press up to 26 keys and they will all register, with no problems.

Cons: No RGB Illumination - Yep, its only back lighting is in WHITE, its not RGB, you can not change the color or do any fancy combinations or light effects, its just white LED back lighting.

Key Size - the keys are on average 20% smaller than the ones on my old Microsoft Comfort Curve 2000 keyboard that I am coming from, its a bit annoying but many keyboards have similar sized keys compared to the G710+

26 Key Rollover (Part 2) - The "auxiliary" keys such as the volume control, mute, and media keys do not feature rollover at all, so keep that in mind.

Non-Rubberized Legs - The palm rest has rubberized "feet" but the legs on the keyboard are just plastic (high quality thick plastic), but it would have been nice if they were rubberized.

Other Thoughts: In all I easily give this keyboard a 5 egg review and would even nominate it for an editors choice/golden egg if I could, most if not all of the cons are simply nit-picks as there are no major flaws or issues with this keyboard.

If you do not care about the LED coloring of your keyboard and are looking for a high quality, sturdy, back-lit keyboard, then the Logitech G710+ deserves every ounce of your respect and its a very very strong contender for best keyboard on the market in its price range.

4 out of 5 eggsAs seen on Linus Tech Tips!

This review is from: Logitech G710 Plus Mechanical USB Gaming Keyboard

Pros: Love the feel of the switches.
Very bright back light
Volume wheel has small amount of feedback
Customizable WASD/Arrow key brightness
Cable routing (if you move your keyboard around a lot they dont work)

Cons: As wide as my old keyboard that had 3x as many macro buttons that I never needed so I thought i would downsize. The sloping sides of this keyboard take up too much room.
The keys sort of float a little bit around the switch and Its the biggest noticeable difference between this and my old plastic dome keyboard. I don't know if that's an inherent property of real switches or just shoddy build quality.

Other Thoughts: Im glad i bought this for 70 dollars, It seems like it should last me a very long time as the keys are easy to remove and clean under.

1 out of 5 eggsKeys fall off, not as sensitive as others for the price

This review is from: Logitech G710 Plus Mechanical USB Gaming Keyboard

Pros: I like the programmable macro feature, but it doesn't justify the Cons.

Cons: These keys are at the very low end of sensitivity. SEVERELY disappointed in logitech. I have a pair of 5300 Speakers from Logitech, I've had them since I was 13 in 2003. Thats serious quality. But when it comes to this keyboard, it's laughable. What a joke. While they keyboard is comfortable, it is absolutely trash when the keys start literally falling off. Pressing tab constantly in WoW, and Caps Lock, the keys just broke and were unusable. The plastic Logitech uses for the keys is probably the cheapest plastic you could use in the injection molding world. It is soft, and maleable. It will not last through time. My keys fell off around the 6month mark. I have a total of 9 missing keys on my keyboard, ranging from R, D, S, F, Tab, Caps Lock, Alt, ~. I dealt with it by swapping out other keys for other keys until I walked into Best Buy one day, and just bought a K70 out of impulse. All in all, for $130, this keyboard is not even CLOSE to a Corsair K70. Get a K70, and be amazed at ACTUAL sensitivity and gameplay.

They make replacement keys, but due to the sensitivity being nowhere near Cherry Reds, and the fact that keys shouldn't ever be just falling off a keyboard, I decided to ditch it.

Other Thoughts: Do NOT buy.

5 out of 5 eggsLogitech G710

This review is from: Logitech G710 Plus Mechanical USB Gaming Keyboard

Pros: The cherry switches on this keyboard are great and are not obnoxiously loud like others. They also look and feel great. I highly recommend for shooters and mobas. Functionality is also great, i have made good use of the macro keys.

Cons: none so far

2 out of 5 eggsSTOP and READ

This review is from: Logitech G710 Plus Mechanical USB Gaming Keyboard

Pros: Great all around keyboard

Cons: The keys break!

Other Thoughts: It is well known that the keys just break off on this model. After a year the WASD keys become unreadable. Logitech has you run through hoops to get the keys replaced. I'm a big fan of this company but this leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

1 out of 5 eggsHigh in features. LOW IN QUALITY. This keyboard is a rip-off.

This review is from: Logitech G710 Plus Mechanical USB Gaming Keyboard

Pros: The Logitech software is excellent. I love being able to create macros for both work and games. It has media keys, which I use extensively. It is backlit. It doesn't have sharp corners

Before this keybaord, I've only had one key break on me in my whole life. After three weeks with this keyboard, I've already had two keys break on me. This is ridiculous for a $100+ keyboard. I bought an expensive keyboard for two reasons: I wanted features and I wanted quality.

Getting it fixed it a joke. Read other reviewers. Logitech wants you to send the whole keyboard in so they can put on a couple keycaps. They want you to pay for shipping, and you'll be without your keyboard for weeks. Trying to reason with them is like trying to reasons with Siri. They just give textbook replies, and don't read your previous messages.

If you want to fix it yourself, you can't pay for just the keys you need. You have to pay for an entire replacement set, which costs $25, not including shipping.

Other Thoughts: Is there any way to take legal action against Logitech on this?

1 out of 5 eggsVery poor quality

This review is from: Logitech G710 Plus Mechanical USB Gaming Keyboard

Pros: Is a keyboard, has some nice feature's, and it has inline usb. Now that it's down to $80 if you really want the orange theme on your keyboard that badly go for it.

Cons: Very poor construction quality, I've had this keyboard for 2 years now and I have many complaints. The spacebar isn't done very well as hitting it on either edge more than once causes it to detach. The LED backlights are inconsistent, some of them are overbearingly bright while others are extremely dim almost to the point where I can't see them if it's not on max brightness. The keys are not a standard size and most replacement keys that fit cherry mx switches will not fit on this keyboard. Speaking of the keys I have 9 broken keys, logitech said they would replace them if I mailed in my keyboard which would require 4-16 weeks to get it back to me after I send it out, and I will have to pay shipping both ways.

Other Thoughts: I use the keyboard an average of 2-4 hours a day and had 2 broken keys within 2 months, I wish I had realized what a mistake this keyboard was back then.
