3 out of 5 eggsAmazing keyboard, terrible RMA process

Pros: Keyboard feels amazing. The MX brown switches are a perfect balance between reds and blues. The keyboard and the keys feel super sturdy and have proven to be very accurate. I type much faster on this keyboard.

Cons: I thought I'd be okay with the partial backlighting, but it really leaves me wanting more...
The P key on my board stopped working after little over a year. Thankfully it was under warranty... except for the fact that it took them ***6 months*** to ship me a replacement keyboard! Yes, I sent it to them in January and just now received an email with a tracking number for a replacement keyboard. If they were just going to replace it anyway, I don't know why it took so long. Heck, I could have just opened it up and replaced the switch myself and might have done just that had I known.

I would have given the product 5 stars if it weren't for this.

Other Thoughts: My next mechanical will probably be without a 10-key and fully back-lit.

3 out of 5 eggsGood keyboard but dumb lights

Pros: Good solid keyboard, typing is very nice. Heavy, so it's not moving all over the place. Looks manly.

Cons: The backlights and coloring of the keyboard. For some reason with this keyboard they decided to not only put backlighting on only 25% of the keys but to make the keys grey on black? I've been trying to figure out how having WASD and 1-5 lit but nothing else is beneficial at all. I've never looked down at my keys during a gaming or typing session and needed or wished for those specific keys to be back lit (though I do wish the whole thing was backlit because of the low contrast colors they chose). I know, it's my fault for thinking that the $100+ Quickfire PRO would be fully backlit (it doesn't specifiy this anywhere here in this listing) and perhaps I should have gone to the manufacturer's site and looked through product specs and examined every detail to find the one small section where they tell you that only a small group are lit, but who on earth would expect or want one small section of their keyboard lit when they're paying $100+?

I've had this keyboard for 2 years now and as a keyboard it's nice, but every time the light starts to dim and I have to turn on a light to type (I'm not a completely touch typist), it annoys me that I don't have a fully lit keyboard. With the dumb color choices, it makes it difficult to see the keyboard unless I have a desk light on anytime it's not high noon. It also annoys me that this, the most expensive keyboard I've ever seen anyone use, is not the keyboard I expected and ultimately poorly designed. I doubt I'll buy another CM keyboard due to not understanding the choices they've made on this one and not being able to trust that they've made a proper keyboard.

Other Thoughts: This keyboard is just a constant disappointment, especially now that I'm really needing a keyboard that's actually backlit in a useful way but will cost me another $100+. I wanted to have this keyboard for 15 years like my last mechanical keyboard but it's just too frustrating.

1 out of 5 eggsGood board, when it worked.

Pros: Nice board. Solidly built, backlighting doesn't cover the whole board but I knew that. Great typing feel.

Cons: Broken. Less than a year of operation. I thought I got a lemon, other Newegg reviews shows that's not the case. I'm having issues with my board connecting/disconnecting itself rapidly and random keys not working. Issue persists across computers, and is not present on my other keyboards.

Other Thoughts: I was very excited to get this as my first mechanical keyboard and it was great for a few months. It's solid, but for nearly $100 I'd expect it to last longer.

For comparison, both of my Das Keyboard Professionals are older and experiencing no issues, and I've used both of them more extensively than my Quickfire Pro. Definitely displeased.

Manufacturer Response:

I'm sorry to hear that you're having issues with your Quickfire Pro. Luckily, this unit is covered by a 2 year warranty and we can help replace it for you. You will need to RMA the product. 1 out of 5 eggsDO NOT BUY

Pros: Good while it worked

Cons: Keys fail before warranty is up.

Other Thoughts: I bought this key board in April of 2014. It is not even a year old and I use this in my office, so it does mostly typing work and not heavy gaming. That being said, the question mark key just stopped working out of the blue. Normally, if it was a gaming keyboard I might have just ignored this, but being that I use this keyboard to type e-mails, it makes it very difficult.

I contacted Cool Master customer service and of course it turns out that I have to pay for shipping to get the keyboard back to them and wait two weeks. that was standard, but here is the best part. Right after I got off chat with the Agent named Robert, he closed my case!!!! Basically, if you don't beg the customer support for a product that they are suppose to warranty, they will ignore and leave you out to dry.

I've NEVER had an experience such as this and cool master has definitely EARNED A REPUTATION OF A BAD COMPANY.

So, if you are willing to shell out 100 bucks for a keyboard that will break in less than a year, have customer service treat you like dirt, then by all means buy this keyboard or anything else from cool master.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear customer,

We sincerely apologize for the misunderstanding. What the rep closed was the support ticket, not your rma for replacement. Please follow the instructions sent to you to send the keyboard in. The support ticket will indeed be closed, but your RMA ticket will remain open until you receive a replacement. If you have further questions regarding this please don't hesitate in contacting us and asking.

4 out of 5 eggsSolid, but with flaws

Pros: Outstanding mechanical switches. Light for a mechanical keyboard, but still very sturdy and much heavier than your average rubber dome keyboard. $55 after MIR - great price. Partial LED backlighting makes for a unique visual aesthetic.

Cons: Enter key stopped working 5 months into its lifespan. Processed an Advanced RMA through Coolermaster (waiting on the replacement to arrive) without issue.

Other Thoughts: 5 stars if the Enter key hadn't stopped working.

2 out of 5 eggsGood, but terrible design

Pros: It's a great keyboard. I love the way it feels. I've tried a lot of other mechanical keyboards and this one feels the best to me. I like that only a section is backlit. Great for gaming and for programming.

Cons: Terrible, awful, ABYSMAL design. The general layout of the keyboard is solid. It's the USB cable that's the hassle. Having a separate connecting mini-usb cable is an awful idea to begin with, but the area on the bottom of the keyboard where it plugs in; It's designed in such a way that the cable has to bend in a spine-twisting way to fit into the socket. Having it plugged in like that is almost GUARANTEED to cause failures. I've gone through 5 different mini-USB cables now. All of them breaking over time due to this terrible design.

Other Thoughts: Great keyboard, but I will be picking up another soon. Not sure what I'll get quite yet, but it won't be CM Storm.

Manufacturer Response:

Hello Perry,

We greatly apologize for the trouble that you are having with the keyboard concerning the USB connection. Since the connection is on the bottom, it is meant for a nicer display of the cabling and provide better cable management along the cable channel grooves underneath. This was one of the first keyboards where we implemented the design and to help gaurantee a solid connection, when inserting the cable, there should be physical click when it is fully seated. It take a bit of a push to get this in. Plus, having a removable cable is better for individuals who travel and bring their computers to LAN events to not damage the connector.

Yet, with newer designs, we've begun to do place the connection at the top of the keyboard, rather than on the bottom because of this feedback. We understand if you're not satisfied with the Quickfire Pro's design. Please contact us by Live Chat (link below) or phone (888-624-5099) where we can help to make a suggestion that suited for you.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Nice tactile feedback from the brown switches. Loud but not that bad.

Cons: Backlight is limited to a few "gaming" keys. I personally find the font of the keys ugly and unnecessary.

Not the fault of the keyboard, but I bought it for typing, not gaming, and I'm concerned that because the keyboard features a brown switch (as opposed to blue), nothing is preventing me from bottoming out.

5 out of 5 eggsclicky clicky

Pros: Feels great to type on, satisfying tactile response and click. If you know you'll like browns then you should enjoy this keyboard.

Have had it for the better part of 2 months now without any issues.

Cons: These aren't really cons so much as things to take into consideration:

Can be a little noisy to others, if you are going to be around people who are sensitive to hearing you type then I wouldn't recommend it.

Not fully back-lit but that's not really that big of an issue for me, if you want something that has full back-lighting for uber gamer status you might want to look at Coolermaster's other options or another keyboard manufacture.

1 out of 5 eggsTerrible

Pros: Feels great. Nice controls and layout.

Cons: Doesn't last. On on my second keyboard. The first had problems recognizing key strikes, especially with the enter key. I returned it, paying shipping to them, and it was malfunction and crashing usb. Talked to customer service turned out it was a bad usb cable. Ordered another one. They sent the wrong usb and had to request another one.
Now the keyboard, which I've had for perhaps 2 weeks is having the same exactly issues.

Other Thoughts: This is not a con for this product, but next time I will spend more on a keyboard that has all they keys backlit.

This is my first Cool Master product and I have to say I will not be purchasing anymore from them.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear customer,

We sincerely apologize for the trouble you have been having with our keyboard. We would like to help out and rectify the situation to your satisfaction, would you be able to contact us via the methods below so we can rectify the situation?
