4 out of 5 eggsTrigger

Pros: This is a great keyboard especially for the price. This was my first mechanical keyboard and its been a great experience. The back lighting is consistent and bright. The keys are very responsive.

Cons: The only problem I have had with this keyboard is the software. I have tried 3 separate installs and all have had the same issue. The keyboard always sync's up, but it takes it 30-45 seconds after windows boots.

3 out of 5 eggs

Pros: The back lighting is cool, Macro keys could come in handy, and as my first mechanical keyboard it wasn't too hard of a transition.

Cons: Does not come with an adapter to give it more power, which is needed for use of the USB ports.
Space bar is squeaky and sort of gets annoying when typing.
Randomly dies. This is the worst part. Otherwise I would have gladly given it 4 eggs. It will, every so often, stop working. The 'lock' lights will light up (num, caps, scroll) but all LED background for the keys go off and the keyboard is unresponsive. Unplugging and replugging does nothing, nor does changing the USB port. None of my other USB devices (webcam/mouse) have ever had this problem, so I can pretty much rule the motherboard out. The only solution I have found is rebooting the whole computer.

Other Thoughts: I would imagine the squeaky space bar is not a common problem as nobody else has complained of it that I can see. So more of less if it came with an adapter to fully power the USB ports and it didn't randomly die it would receive 5 Eggs

Pros: I love the feel and weight of this keyboard. I like how I hardly have to press the keys for them to register. I use this keyboard to play bf3 and so far its amazing. I've been using the programable keys and they are great. Great metalic look to it and the wrist pad is nice. Wish it wasn't made out of hard plastic. Give a little pad to it. IT'S A WRIST PAD!!

Cons: The two usb ports of the back of this isn't a big use for me because I have them on my monitor but what really ticked me off what that you need the use of the adapter to have the red LED lights on. I bought an adapter for $6 and it didn't work even though its suppose to be a 5 volt adapter. Not having the lights was a big let down to me. So if you don't want the two USBs and the red light, this is the keyboard for you if you're a gammer.

Other Thoughts: Great keyboard for the price if the lights have worked. I was really thinking about sending it back just because of that untill I started playing on it.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Customer,

We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience. The light option on the keyboard does not require any type of adapter. To activate the light on the keyboard, please press the storm logo key + F1 on the keyboard. Press Storm logo key + F4 to cycle through the lighting options. 5 out of 5 eggsGood keyboard

Pros: Well built... Not bulky and has a good design. Comes with backlit lights and different light modes. Multimedia keys and macros. Keys characters will not fade over time.

Cons: Doesn't have any swapable gadgets unlike the Azio Levetron keyboard.

Unfortunately when this arrived the box was opened and the utility disk was missing. I dont know if it was customs who opened this and lost the disk or this was an open box item. Not gonna take off an egg cuz the review is for the keyboard itself and not for newegg's service.

Other Thoughts: My first mechanical keyboard... Cherry black felt awkward at the beginning because it doesn't have that clicky feel that rubber dome keyboards has. People say that you gotta press harder with cherry black switches in order to get a keypress registered, I will say this is not totally true.

3 out of 5 eggsThe keys are stickier than I thought

Pros: 1. Backlit capability is nice, and it's fully adjustable.
2. Cherry Black Switch.
3. Seems to be sturdy to withstand heavy use.
4. Extra macros are nice to have.

Cons: 1. Form factor is kind of bulky.
2. The keys are somewhat sticky.

Other Thoughts: I have owned couple of mechanical keyboards with different types of Cherry Switches. Personally, I'm leaning toward the Red/Black linear switches than the Blue clicky switch. (It's a matter of personal preferences)
My personal favorite would be the Steelkeys 6G which I've owned since 2006. It also has the cherry black switch as this CM Storm Trigger. However, the keys on the CM keyboard are somewhat sticky. Almost to the feel of the cheap membrane keyboards.
I don't normally attached the keyboard rest to the front, it takes up too much space if I do so. The keyboard looks somewhat bulky without the keyboard rest attached.
All in all, I think this fits the bill for a quality mechanical keyboard. (The steelkeys 6G I acquired earlier is north of 100 bucks) I'm somewhat reserved with the sticky feeling when the keys are pressed.

5 out of 5 eggsFantastic

Pros: The keyboard has a great feel to it, which can be attributed to the black switches, which are very spring. Very nice.
Overall the keyboard has a great layout, and the wristpad is very nice and smooth. The backlighting looks great and is an aid for night time shenanigans. The multimedia keys are very useful

Cons: Only thing I can name as a con is trying to figure out the software to assign the storm key to the windows key for daily use and to be the storm key during gaming sessions.

Other Thoughts: I highly recommend this keyboard. I primarily use it for gaming, but since I am in college, I am writing papers and such using it as well. Just finished writing a paper and it feels great to type on. Much less mistakes made than a typical membrane keyboard.

5 out of 5 eggsFantastic Keyboard

Pros: - The Cherry MX Black keys are superb for gaming. Takes a bit of getting used to for typing, but I adapted fairly quickly. (I have a friend with the same keyboard but with MX Brown keys, which is excellent for typing.)

- Fully back-lit.

- The 2 port USB hub is useful. It essentially takes 2 usb ports from the back of my motherboard (the 2 used up by the keyboard) and makes them accessible on my desk. Great for flash drives and game controllers.

- Profiles. They keyboard can keep up to 5 profiles within its own local storage. In a profile each key can be reassigned to different functions and/or macros. The profiles can be switched by using the Storm Key (Replacement for the Windows Key) + [1 - 5].

Currently the only change I've made is altering the left Storm Key to act just like the Windows key. It sounds stupid after hating on the Windows key for so long, but I just can't live without Win + R (Run), Win + P (Projector / Display Settings), Win + E (My Computer), and the new Win + X (Windows 8 "Admin" menu)

Cons: Changes made to profiles will not take effect until you "exit out" of the profile software. I didn't discover this until I closed the software out of frustration. This wasn't explained anywhere that I could see, and was a tad annoying.

Other Thoughts: Get a mechanical keyboard. The difference is amazing no matter what type of keys you choose.

3 out of 5 eggsGreat Keyboard, but...

Pros: The keyboard itself is beyond excellent. I absolutely love this keyboard! The keys are responsive and have a nice "clicky" feeling to them. While slightly noisier than a typical keyboard, the Black cherry switches on this one are fairly subtle.

For gaming AND typing, this keyboard is great!

Cons: Apparently this keyboard, defying logic and reason, is shipped without a DC power cord to run the USB ports...

I talked to Newegg about it, and received the same answer as other reviewers. I'm not sure if it's Cooler Master or Newegg to blame here, but AT THE VERY LEAST, it should state that it doesn't have the power cord in the listing.

Absolutely ridiculous.

4 out of 5 eggsWell that BITES!!

Pros: very nice all around, sturdy, great feel

Cons: uhm, a $119 dollar keyboard on sale for $80 dollars is fantastic. Getting it, plugging it in and seeing a paper with small print in the box saying "Correction Notice (dc power cable is optional)", meaning it is not back light. There is also no option on Newegg to buy a power cord for it. There is also NO STATEMENT to the fact that you do not receive a power supply cord which turns this $119 dollar keyboard in to a $45 dollar keyboard at most.

Other Thoughts: It would have been nice to know before purchase that it would be extra. I could have chosen differently and not waited to receive it - only to turn right around and RMA it.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome!

Pros: Quality Built.
Wrist Rest doesn't feel uncomfortable like a lot of other keyboards.
Cherry MX Black Switches. :)
Very responsive.
Red Back Lighting... though that is just a preference.
Quiet to type on.

Cons: The instruction manual for this thing is worthless. It just lists the features you already see on the specifications/details pages of most websites. Had a little trouble figuring out how to change the lighting settings of the keyboard when I first got it. However I didn't think this was any reason to knock off an egg since everything else about it is amazing.

Other Thoughts: All around well worth the cost in my opinion. I had a keyboard with Cherry MX Blue switches before and just got tired of the noise they made when I pressed keys. However I did like it better for typing but as for gaming and just general use the Black switches are in my opinion far better than the rest.

Some people may not like the price tag on this keyboard but even at full price this is a worthy buy for anyone who wants a great mechanical keyboard. I like it much better than my previous one which was even move expensive and wasn't built to as high of quality.
