4 out of 5 eggsAlmost Perfect

This review is from: CM Storm QuickFire TK - Compact Mechanical Gaming Keyboard with CHERRY MX Blue Switches and Fully Backlit

Pros: 1; feels amazing, both in typing and the build quality itself.
2; improved my typing. I went from an average of 85 words per minute on a laptop to 100 words per minute.
3; compact size works well for me. I wanted a number pad but I didn't want a huge keyboard so this compromise worked well.
4; Back-light is bright and beautiful.
5; Removable micro usb.
6; Really nice braided usb cable.

Cons: 1; It's very loud. While I like the sound, I know that many people will be turned off by it. In that case, I'd recommend getting the browns but I really like the tactile sound myself.
2; The compromise of integrating the arrow keys into the number pad can be awkward at times but I suppose in time, I'll get used to it.
3; Non-customizable back-lighting. While there are a decent amount of pre-installed lighting effects, the fact that I am restricted to what is programmed on there is unfortunate.

Other Thoughts: Overall a very nice keyboard. The downsides I have put down aren't too bad and are more so nitpicks. I think it's a great deal for the price for those looking for a cherry blue compact keyboard.

5 out of 5 eggsReally Amazing Keyboard

This review is from: CM Storm QuickFire TK - Compact Mechanical Gaming Keyboard with CHERRY MX Blue Switches and Fully Backlit

Pros: - This keyboard has amazing Cherry MX Blue Switches and it feels amazing to type with it
- If you type or game at night, the backlighting on this keyboard is amazing
- This keyboard is very compact and I can take it with me anywhere I want to, while fitting into a backpack

Cons: - The arrow keys are actually part of the numpad, which requires me to switch from num lock and no num lock, but I can understand that this was so that the keyboard was compact and could be taken anywhere.

5 out of 5 eggs

This review is from: CM Storm QuickFire TK - Compact Mechanical Gaming Keyboard with CHERRY MX Blue Switches and Fully Backlit

Pros: Frame feels sturdy
Compact design allows it to be carried around and fit on small desks
Typing feels good, quality switches
Good looking design, goes well with most other black coating + blue LED products
Easy to disassemble and clean with the tools provided

Cons: Compact numpad + arrow set can be annoying for some applications
The lighting modes seem pretty useless without any way to customize well (but I think that might be asking a bit much for the price range)

Other Thoughts: This is the first mechanical keyboard I have owned. I did the research on the known cons beforehand, so I knew what I was getting. I have been very satisfied with this keyboard for gaming and for school work.

1 out of 5 eggsDon't Buy This Keyboard

This review is from: CM Storm QuickFire TK - Compact Mechanical Gaming Keyboard with CHERRY MX Blue Switches and Fully Backlit

Pros: Cheap

Cons: Very low reliability. I bought the previous model of this keyboard and I'm on my second RMA in 8 months. Both just stopped working while I was typing on them. Lights go off, and it's dead

Other Thoughts: Cooler Master does not cross-ship, therefore you had better have a backup. YOU pay the postage to return it, so at $20.00 a pop to return it. Doesn't take long before you've paid as much to return your keyboard as it does to replace it. Save yourself the frustration. BTW, my 8 year old Logitec G11 is still working.

Manufacturer Response:

Hello Scott,

I apologize that you have had trouble a few times with this keyboard. Please contact us by phone (888-624-5099) or LiveChat where we help to make this right with your keyboard and experience. I do want to let you know, that we do have a cross-ship option or Advance RMA. To complete the Advance RMA, you will need to complete a regular RMA first from our Fanzone site. Next, you will need to CALL us at the phone number provided and we will explain the process from there.

Also, with our warranty policy, we encourage customers to seek resolution first with their original vendor. If they are outside of the return/exchange policy, we work with customers the best we can. We do ask customers to ship their defective product as we are to cover the replacement and replacement shipping cost. Yet, being a second RMA in less than 8 months with the same issues, please contact us to let us see what we can do.

Please let me know if you have any additional questions, comments, or concerns as well.

Respectfully,

Robert N.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome

This review is from: CM Storm QuickFire TK - Compact Mechanical Gaming Keyboard with CHERRY MX Blue Switches and Fully Backlit

Pros: BLUE

Cons: None so far.

Other Thoughts: I won't list any pros and cons because the only other mechanical keyboards I've even touched are a really old razer model and the same keyboard but with red switches instead so i'm no expert but this keyboard is awesome I'm only writing a review because I love how it feels to type on I just want to ramble on and on about nothing and just listen to the clicks and the taps.

4 out of 5 eggsAwesome keyboard

This review is from: CM Storm QuickFire TK - Compact Mechanical Gaming Keyboard with CHERRY MX Blue Switches and Fully Backlit

Pros: Cherry mx blues, nice even backlighting, solid build quality, braided usb cable, a joy to type on.

Cons: Metallic pinging noise on a couple of keys (thankfully only in the top row on # keys so far)

Wish the F12 and FN key LEDS could be adjusted in brightness as the only options are full brightness or off, which looks odd when you have the rest on a lower setting.

In order to have all of the LEDs turned off the NUMLK has to be turned on, which means if you want the arrows activated the leds for those keys will be on.

Other Thoughts: I didn't buy this here but thought I'd leave a review since I shop with Newegg quite often. I installed O-rings as soon as I received mine and typing is a pleasure. Everyone says cherry mx blues are extremely loud but I don't find it much louder than my previous rubber dome Logitech surprisingly.

5 out of 5 eggsNot a Single Negative For Me

This review is from: CM Storm QuickFire TK - Compact Mechanical Gaming Keyboard with CHERRY MX Blue Switches and Fully Backlit

Pros: More of a thumbs up to Cherry, but the switches are amazing. LEDs are super vibrant or can be turned down. Size can be a negative but it fits my desk perfectly, full sized would not fit on my keyboard tray. Cooler Master's choice to make the underlay bright blue under the keys makes for a far more even glow. Best typing experience I've ever had. Rubberized feet, including the elevation tabs. Comes with key-cap rremover for easy cleaning.

Cons: Nowhere near a deal breaker, just nitpicking. Would have liked the option to light all keys rather than in "zones" ie num lock has to be off for arrow key lights to be on, and vice-versa if I want to use arrow keys the light will always be on witch could be distracting to you or obnoxious to those around you. Most annoying and closest to being bad is that the function key must be held in for awhile to lock it and therefore turn on the light, but then you can't use F1 through F-12, point is ifor some it may be hard to have them all on or off if that's what you want. Doesn't have a usb hub, but the price point.

Other Thoughts: Biggest thing here, my unit came with a faulty cable. I noticed bad connections and I tried with multiple cords. Turned out the gold plated cable I got had a malformed pin-out on the mini USB side, there was an extra sliver of metal embedded in the plastic. After removing it was a little better, but plugging it in day one already damaged the port. HOWEVER this keyboard was so great I didn't want to RMA it. Granted, I was new to Newegg and wasn't keen on paying for them sending me a bad product but I'll get to that later. I sucked it up and jiggled it and unplugged and replugged it in every time I booted up my PC. Finally it got to the point where I had enough, it took too much hassle especially with my new desk making it impossible to get to the back of my tower to deal with it. Unfortunately my time to Newegg RMA was up, and I lost the invoice anyways. I stupidly bought as a guest too so no looking it up. But then I noticed I get a limited warranty through Cooler Master. My sister already peeled off the sticker on the back, but luckily I kept it to put in my Serial Number. Not only did they get back to me quickly after taking one picture of the plug, but I sent it in just paying shipping out to them and they had a new one to me within a week or so despite some obvious wear. I would also like to add that the new product they sent to me had a different cable, still braided but not gold plated. I assume they were not happy with the quality control and opted for whomever makes these new cables. Kudos to Cooler Master, unless you have free returns through Newegg, go through Cooler Master they were a delight and you get a NEW PRODUCT not another old one out of Newegg's warehouse (no offense, obviously you guys have a stock of things rather than a new item for each return. Just this was clearly a manufacturing error somewhere.) So before you see "This is faulty it sucks and returns were hard" I had NO PROBLEM returning and the ONLY reason I separated myself from this keyboard long enough to replace my slightly faulty one was because I was given a spare keyboard and was working overtime that week so I couldn't game anyways.

1 out of 5 eggsAwful

This review is from: CM Storm QuickFire TK - Compact Mechanical Gaming Keyboard with CHERRY MX Blue Switches and Fully Backlit

Pros: Backlight looks cool. Braided cable.

Cons: The numlock means you can't use arrows. There are no macro bindings. What's the point of a gaming keyboard without macros? Cheery blues are too clicky for me.

Manufacturer Response:

Hi Ravtis,

We sincerely apologize for any confusion you had purchasing the keyboard. The keyboard in question is marketed towards a compact solution for a full sized keyboard. Given the keyboard is compact, many functions are shared such as the numpad/arrow keys. We also offer full size keyboards for our customers that prefer the functions to be separate. We weren't able to find any advertisement on the keyboard showing that it supports macros, would you be able to let us know where it was advertised to have macro keys so we can correct the problem? We definitely where you are coming from in regards to the mechanical switches. Every switch has a different feel, for that reason we offer different switches so our customers can have their preference, if blue switch is too clicky, we recommend that you have a look at the brown switch or red switch as those are not as clicky. If you have further questions, please let us know via the contact methods below.

Respectfully,

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent Gaming Mouse, Not Enough Practical Use

This review is from: CM Storm QuickFire TK - Compact Mechanical Gaming Keyboard with CHERRY MX Blue Switches and Fully Backlit

Pros: Alright, so the quick things to know about this mouse are that it is an excellent mouse. Adjustable DPI, the ability to bind on the fly adjusting, rebinding every button is possible, though it is required you have some buttons bound (i.e. left click, right click) The Logitech Gaming Software can be a bit of a pain to get working on some computers, but i'm not docking it an egg because it's worked on virtually every computer I've tried it on after a bit of a fight on some. The mouse is large, so it fills my hand, but for some this may be a con. The buttons feel nice and are indented to fit your thumb in an area of 6 of the total 12 side buttons, and it really is a great experience using this mouse. It takes a bit of learning to use all 12 side buttons, and feels awkward at times, but it's not bad once you learn. There's very few flaws, and most of those I have listed as pros because I enjoy my mice beefy.

Cons: Very few, but includes:

- Side buttons are easy to press but hard to locate for novices
- The software can be a bit of a pain to get working
- Sometimes the mouse feels too light, but I won't dock for this.

Other Thoughts: Really a great mouse, I would definitely buy many more for the low price I paid. It's lasted a few months so far, here's to hoping for a few years.
