3 out of 5 eggsNice keyboard but with weird ten-key-ishness

This review is from: CM Storm QuickFire TK - Compact Mechanical Gaming Keyboard with CHERRY MX Blue Switches and Fully Backlit

Pros: - TKL footprint
- good switches (blue)
- quality
- backlit

Cons: - weird ten-key configuation

Other Thoughts: I did like the feel of the CM Storm but I never could get my long-ingrained muscle-memory to understand how to not hit the wrong keys when I went to navigate.

The TKL footprint was nice (I can stand having my mouse pushed out by a ten-key that I don't use) and it does actually contain a ten-key, but the compromise might affect (as it did me) those who are used to standard TKL layouts.

I wanted to like/use this keyboard, but I ultimately boxed it back up and put in on my shelf. YMMV.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent for the money

This review is from: CM Storm QuickFire TK - Compact Mechanical Gaming Keyboard with CHERRY MX Blue Switches and Fully Backlit

Pros: -Genuine Cherry switches
-Full function keyboard in a compact form factor
-Function lock
-Very solid build quality
-Gorgeous lighting
-Detachable USB cord
-Windows key lock

Cons: -Wished the breathing mode had more variance between dim and bright backlighting

Other Thoughts: I bought this keyboard to replace my Logitech G710+ because i needed a smaller keyboard for more mouse room (small desk). This keyboard does not disappoint in the slightest. I love that its a tenkeyless form factor but with the number pad so I get the functionality of a full size keyboard in a small size. The keyboard is made very solidly with no flex and has a good bit of heft to it. Adding blue paint (on the Cherry MX Blue model) on the plate below the keys makes the backlighting stand out amazingly. Added functions like a function lock so you don't have to hold down function to access media/lighting keys and a Windows lock key so you don't accidentally close your game should you press the Windows key on accident are great. Adding to that, it has a replaceable USB cable so you won't have to buy a whole new keyboard should something happen to your cable. The bottom line: A fantastic keyboard with full functionality for those who need/want a smaller, more compact keyboard. Cooler Master knocked this one out of the park.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Keyboard

This review is from: CM Storm QuickFire TK - Compact Mechanical Gaming Keyboard with CHERRY MX Blue Switches and Fully Backlit

Pros: Cherry Brown keys feel great. Not too noisy, but still has a nice, light tactile click. However, I may be a bit biased since this is my first mechanical keyboard.

The size of the keyboard is really nice. Especially since it still has the number pad! Overall, I don't use the number pad all that much, but I still wanted it to be there. I use it for programming and gaming, and, overall, it's served both needs wonderfully. I take it to work so that I can have a nice keyboard while programming there, and I also use it at home for gaming/programming. The compact size makes it really convenient to transport back and forth.

This keyboard also feels really sturdy. It has a bit of weight to it compared to the membrane keyboard I was using before, but that just makes it feel more sturdy. The rubber feed on the bottom makes sure that this keyboard will not move unless you want it to.

I also quite like the lights. With several mode to choose from, it allows for some cool effects. You can easily see the letters on the keys when the backlight is off.

Cons: I only have two complaints

1: You can never completely turn off the lights on this keyboard. When you have numlock off, the arrow keys light up to show you that you can use the arrow keys. When numlock is on, the numlock light is on. It's not a dim light either. If I just had the ability to choose to turn off the arrow key lights when numlock was off, I would be happy.

2: The function key is awkwardly placed.

Other Thoughts: Overall, this is a great keyboard. If you don't want to give up the number pad but still want a compact layout, this keyboard is for you. However, if you bounce between the numpad and arrow keys a lot (E.G. speadsheets), then you should definitely consider a full sized keyboard instead. I only ever use the number pad for inserting foreign characters, typing long numbers, and the occasional spread sheet editing, so a combination of the numpad and other keys was ideal for me.

4 out of 5 eggsgreat keyboard, nonstandard bottom row

This review is from: CM Storm QuickFire TK - Compact Mechanical Gaming Keyboard with CHERRY MX Blue Switches and Fully Backlit

Pros: this is a great keyboard, mine came with reds but i have two cm boards with blues and they are all top notch quality. the board is pretty heavy, which you should expect, and the numpad is pretty cool. very nice board if you don't plan on switching out keycaps

Cons: there are two issues with this board. one is that the cable routing channels are pretty small, they fit a braided cable very snuggly, which is good, but it is too small for double braided cables. the biggest problem is that the bottom row has non standard key cap sizes. this means that it will be very difficult to replace the caps on this board. My other CM boards have standard keys so i'm not sure why this one is different. Had I realized this I probably wouldn't have bought it

3 out of 5 eggsNice...

This review is from: CM Storm QuickFire TK - Compact Mechanical Gaming Keyboard with CHERRY MX Blue Switches and Fully Backlit

Pros: Feels great! Looks great!

Cons: One LED does not work. =(

Other Thoughts: Mine came with one LED burned out which I was not happy with. Newegg did offer to replace it but I'm afraid another will come back in worse shape based on the reviews I've read about CM keyboards. I liek how it feels and looks so 1 LED is not a huge issue I guess. I will just order some solid caps to go over it as it was on the NumPad side so I will just solid cap them all I guess...

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Keyboard So Far

This review is from: CM Storm QuickFire TK - Compact Mechanical Gaming Keyboard with CHERRY MX Blue Switches and Fully Backlit

Pros: This keyboard is the perfect size to fit my computer desk keyboard pull out with my mouse. Keys work great, i really like the BLUE CHERRY MX switches. Great loud click. Good tactile feed back when pressing keys. the blue brightness is perfect, bright but not overwhelming. I like the function always on mode. Great for changing songs with media player. Gotta love windows KEY LOCK! I really like how sturdy the keyboard is. Really heavy duty.

Cons: 4 LEDS were burnt out the first 2 seconds i had it on. the 2, 0, 00 and . from the numpad. Also the scroll lock LED doesnt come on ever. Not sure it works but i dont use SL anyways. So i do wonder how long the rest will last.

Other Thoughts: I really like this keyboard so far, and if no more LEDS go out , and the keys work, ill be happy. Really great keyboard so far. Highly recommend. Mine probablly was the odd one where something didnt work. Im ok the the current leds not working as i dont use them much anyways.

4 out of 5 eggsOverall good keyboard

This review is from: CM Storm QuickFire TK - Compact Mechanical Gaming Keyboard with CHERRY MX Blue Switches and Fully Backlit

Pros: Cherry MX Blues
Backlighting is VERY BRIGHT
Compact
Windows Key Lock
DETACHABLE (BRAIDED) CABLE
Solid build quality, doesn't flex much at all.

Cons: The numpad/arrow key layout is very hard to get used to. I've owned this for a month now and with daily use am still getting confused on how to use it sometimes due to the fact that it can be tough to distinguish when backlighting is on.

The NUMLOCK, CAPSLOCK, and SCROLL LOCK LEDS in the top right are definitely not bright enough. It's difficult if not impossible to tell if it's on if you're at an angle, and still very dim even when looking at them from directly above.

The font on the keycaps is very weird too, but this is just nitpicking.

Other Thoughts: Overall, I'd give it a 4/5 rating because of the weird layout configuration. I regret getting this over just a normal tenkeyless design.

I also thought that it would have came with white backlighting, but it turns out that the switch type determines what color backlighting you get, this wasn't a huge deal for me, but a little disappointing when I plugged it in for the first time and it lit up blue.

3 out of 5 eggsHad To RMA

This review is from: CM Storm QuickFire TK - Compact Mechanical Gaming Keyboard with CHERRY MX Blue Switches and Fully Backlit

Pros: -Well made construction
-Well lite back light with option to change brightness
-Nice small gives space on desk
-Sexy sounding clicky cherry mx blues

Cons: -Had to RMA due to the "A" key not clicking or having a tactical feel
-On the num pad the 2 key's LED was placed upside down witch made it so you cant see the led light illuminate it

Other Thoughts: If did not have to RMA the product due to the 2 errors then it would be a five star product. I normally do not review a product after only 3 hours of use. But from what i have experienced. It is a vary nice, Small, Clicky and sexy product. It is worth you money provided that it has no errors with it.
