5 out of 5 eggsReview

Pros: It's a fantastic keyboard for it's value. I love the brown switches on this keyboard, it's so much better than the blues- albeit much quieter too! Quiet is a huge overstatement for the Brown switches because if you're bottoming out every single keystroke, you'll definitely hear - dare I say - audible clicks. It's nothing as "annoying" (I don't find them annoying at all; I just can't think of another synonym right now) as the blues, in which you hear a distinct click on every keystroke that you press down.

Bottom line: It's an amazing keyboard, if you're on the fence of buying one, just do it. [No I'm not being paid or anything to say that, though I wouldn't mind ;) ]

Cons: Honestly I don't have a specific con to the keyboard, but if I did, it'll be: "PLEASE MAKE IT MORE STEALTH!" What do I mean by this? Delete or in other words, don't print the letters on the key caps. For someone who's an experienced typist like myself, I don't need to look at the keyboard to type and I find it "ugly" to see the letterings on the side of the key caps. True, it is an avant- garde type of design, but I don't find it very much stealthy at all. This is nothing against the design of the keyboard, as I understand the engineer's market and design. It's just a personal thing.

Other Thoughts: I have owned the first generation CM Storm Quickfire Rapid- the with the Cooler Master logos stamped all over it (the grey one with white "Cooler Master" logo on the space bar). Comparing this to the first generation Quickfire Rapid is like comparing the decibel rating of a full cat-less, straight - piped exhaust system to an exhaust system with resonators, catalytic converters, and what not; it's a night and day difference in terms of noise. (I did get the first generation QuickFire Rapid with the blues)
I will say that the browns on this keyboard definitely feels different from the browns that are on the CM Quickfire TK. The Quickfire TK's brown switches definitely feel much more "stealthy" and "responsive" (these are personal and subjective nuisances). Also, I wished that these came with built in O-ring dampeners to enhance the "quiet-ness" and "stealthiness" of these boards. Not to mention, the O-rings will probably improve the tactile feedback of the keys, requiring less force to actuate and press on the keys. (Where I'm trying to get at is that I want the tactile feedback from the Logitech G710+ and CM Storm Quickfire TK Stealth in this keyboard) Is that too much to ask for? It probably is and will most likely drive up the cost of the board but it's just a suggestion haha.

I've owned this board for over a year and it's still alive and feels as new and tactile the way it did when I first open the packaging, this board will definitely last for a LONG time.

After using brown switches for quite a while, I recently decided to purchase another Mechanical Keyboard in Blue Switches to change up my typing "career" (probably the worse noun, but it's the only one I can think of right now)

2 out of 5 eggsLess than a year and starting to fall apart.

Pros: Nice feel when typing and the noise is actually pretty pleasant. Comes with extra WASD keys and windows keys. Detachable cord, if you consider that a "pro"

Cons: "Backspace" is starting to give way an it's behaviour is unpredictable when pressed. "Space" was a little wonky for a while (i.e. wouldn't register presses), but is ok now for some reason. One of the rubber feet has disappeared.

Other Thoughts: Overall, this keyboard has a nice feel to it, but is ultimately unreliable. This is the first keyboard I decided to splurge on and it has made me reconsider going back to just buying those cheapo boards which I don't have to worry about losing in 6 months time.

Manufacturer Response:

I'm very sorry for the troubles you're having with your Quickfire Stealth. We do have a 2 year warranty on it, so let's put it to work for you and get you a working one!

If the rubber foot you mentioned is one of the ones on the base of the board itself, we'll have to go with an RMA replacement of the keyboard since they're built to be sealed onto the keyboard. You can begin the RMA process at the eRMA link below.

If you managed to get the rubber foot back or found another solution, you can address the issue with your Spacebar and Backspace keys by requesting replacement keycaps via our Part Request service, which I've linked below as well.

If you have any other troubles, questions, or comments to us, please talk to us via our Live Chat and Ticket services through the Contact Us link below :)

Pros: It's nice when it was working.

Cons: Brought it 9/10/2013, it doesn't work like lots of other reviews said!

Manufacturer Response:

Dear valued customer,
I'm terribly sorry for the issues you've encountered. We have a 2 year warranty on the Quickfire Stealth, so let us put that to use for you if you need to.

If you're having connectivity issues, try using different USB ports or testing it on another computer to troubleshoot the problem. If you have another USB cable, give that a shot as well. If you figure out that you need to replace the cable, you can request one using the Part Request link below for a replacement USB cable covered under the warranty.

If a key or two isn't working, try using canned air duster on the switch by pulling off the keycap and blowing into and around the switch. If there's no luck there, or your keyboard just isn't working entirely, you can register for an RMA at the eRMA link below.

If you need anymore support, have any questions, or need any assistance regarding an RMA, please contact us directly using the Contact Us link I'm providing so we can talk over Live Chat or Tickets and help you out directly!

4 out of 5 eggsGreat So Far

Pros: I recently converted to mechanical keyboards and do not foresee going back. I would argue that this is one of the best "starter boards" since the price is fairly low (relative) and it has the main things needed. Granted, it is "missing" some of the bells and whistles (see CONS) of others, I don't anticipate replacing it anytime.

I really enjoy the brown switches in this board as it provides some decent tactile feedback with a lower amount of the audible tone. Note, that doesn't mean this is at all "silent" nor does it really fall under the "stealth" type of name - that is strictly relative to other Cherry MX switches.

* Ten keyless (relative pro)
* Cherry Browns (relative pro)
* Removable USB (portable)
* Style (relative pro)
* No printing/etching on the top of keys
* Multimedia keys (F1-F12 with the FN key, on MAC the PS, SCLK and PA/BR also do things)

Cons: Personally, I don't have a need for many "bells and whistles" nor do I expect them at this price. That being said, they could fall in this category:

* No Backlighting
* No Dips (if you don't move a keyboard between computers much nor reformat constantly, this doesn't really matter)
* On MAC (may be Apple's fault) - often after resuming from sleep the keyboard doesn't enumerate and register keystrokes.

5 out of 5 eggsQuickfire Rapid Stealth

Pros: My first mechanical keyboard! It's amazing. I'm already noticing increases in comfort and speed. I originally wanted blues but browns work really well too.

Cons: Nothing! I'm still used to having a num-pad but I knew this keyboard came without it. Again, if you do your research, you'll know what to expect and this keyboard will do exactly as advertised!

Other Thoughts: I don't like the font as much, and I realized that I might as well have bought a keyboard with blank keycaps so I recommend researching the right switch, researching the features of the keyboard, and actually trying out the switches - whether at another store or by buying some keyswitch testers. If you do all these, any mechanical keyboard buyer shouldn't be disappointed.

5 out of 5 eggsDid not disappoint

Pros: The keyboard arrived as promised. And boy, was it a great looking one. I love the stealth feature -- total black when viewed from straight above the keyboard. I also own Das Keyboard. It is also a great keyboard. This one uses Cherry MX brown, so there is not clicking sound when I press a key.

Cons: none so far

5 out of 5 eggshackintosh friendly

Pros: Got everything working on Mac OS X 10.8 mountain lion. Except for wifi and Bluetooth

Cons: not really a con overall. But the wifi and Bluetooth are not hackintosh ready

Other Thoughts: This laptop is great. It just keep surprising me. Could not really beat for the price and design

1 out of 5 eggsReplacement recieved

Pros: I wanted to follow up here, but I feel as though I am short on pros for this keyboard.

The keyboard itself is wonderful... when it works...

Cons: I don't intend to blast cooler master here but this was ridiculous.

Here I am finally, with a new replacement. I started this process on 8/8 and received the replacement today on 9/11.

There was a long back and forth email chain with CM on this, and when they finally deemed me eligible for a replacement they were out of stock on the stealth keyboards. They then attempted to give me a quickfire rapid (a keyboard that retails for $20-$40 less than this one) as a replacement. I asked what they intended to do to cover the cost gap (Mind you I have paid shipping now as well... looking at $120+ invested in this thing already as when I bought it my total was $110 and change) they blatantly disregarded that portion of my email and moved on.

I'm concerned. The first one didn't last very long and now with a replacement, I feel as though I've been given a band aid until they can wipe their hands and walk once my warranty expires.

Be wary. They don't seem to have your best interests in mind when it comes to you as a consumer. I would recommend going with another manufacturer and swapping the keycaps with stealthy black ones.

I am very disappointed with cooler master on this one.

Other Thoughts: switch failure rate seems to be high and a serious problem and they are only passing out replacements, presumably with the same bad switches they shipped with in the first place...

Manufacturer Response:

Dear valued customer,
I'm sorry for the troubles you've encountered. Please contact us over Live Chat with your RMA number so we can assist you directly on this issue to see what we can do for you.
