5 out of 5 eggsSolid Mechanical Keyboard!

Pros: - Great build quality and very tough.
- A very simple keyboard design
- Multimedia shortcuts
- The blue cherries...click, click, click!!!!

If you don't want any fancy LED or macro keys then this is great for just the basic needs.

Cons: - When disabling the windows key; the red light can be very distracting

5 out of 5 eggsThe right tool

Pros: - The layout is perfect, the keys are well placed and stable. Minimalist form while keeping all the keys. They have replaced the useless (to me) menu key by a function key for media controls.
- The build quality is solid. There are no creaks or wobbles and the rubber feet keep the board where I want it.
- The full sized USB connection is well placed near the front right end of the board. I tend to place my keyboard against the base of a monitor stand or laptop so this is perfect for me.
- The rubberised texture of the bezel was unexpected. The matte black finish is appealing to sight and touch, if only I could get keycaps that nice.

Cons: If I had to pick out my least favourite things about this keyboard, they would be the font used on the keycaps and the Num/Caps/Scroll lock LEDs. The font on the keycaps is odd looking, large print, and sometimes confusing. I would prefer smaller, more standard printing in the top left corner of the key or no printing at all. The Num/Caps/Scroll LEDs are very close to the number pad so I must lean forward to check, same as Filco, very minor. I wish the XT had LEDs under the Num/Caps/Scroll lock key similar to the CM Storm compact models.

Other Thoughts: This was purchased to replace a defective Rosewill RK-9000. The fist Rosewill shipped with a defective 'D' key, the second developed a defective 'O' key within 9 months. I loved that keyboard but comparing the two I would pick the CM. It seems to be quieter, softer somehow. Perhaps the sound is dampened by the rubberised bezel, perhaps the red metal plate in the Rosewill acted as a resonant soundboard. I have also used Razer BlackWidow, Filco, and Unicomp. I dislike the Razer because of its cheap feeling/sounding plastic construction. The Filco was just as nice as this keyboard but the cable entrance was inconveniently located in the centre of the back and the premium price seems to be for improved customer service. I did not have a chance to write code on the noisy Unicomp because my colleagues threatened to bludgeon me after typing my username and password.

5 out of 5 eggsCM Storm QuickFire XT with CHERRY MX Blue Switches

Pros: the switches, the switches, the switches.

Cons: media keys dont work all that well - turning down spotify/pandora is kind of a pain (too many needed key presses to make a difference in sound level). No wrist rest. No audio ports for headphones and no usb pass through. Not deal breakers, but for this price, they would be greatly appreciated!

Other Thoughts: ^^ all that complaining aside, this keyboard is awesome. I would probably opt for the green switches if I had to do it again, but the blues are great for typing at the office and I am sure they would give my K90 a run for its money when gaming (not really though - lol). Thank you CM!

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Keyboard is oozing with quality.
Sound is really crisp.
Easy to press the keys.

Cons: Just a little louder than I thought it would be.

Other Thoughts: Man, I am going to have a blast typing on this thing. A lot better than the traditional rubber based keyboards.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Keyboard

Pros: -Sturdy design (very solid with the internal metal plate inside)
-Easily readable font on the keys
-The kit comes with a nice key cap puller and the WASD keys comes with replacement red key caps for high visibility.
-Very nice braided cord with gold plugs
-Comes with a USB to PS2 connector which is great, other keyboards don't do this.
-The keyboard has a standard USB female port so if you break/loose/damage your braided cord you don't need anything special. A simple $5 cord will do.
-Solid rubber pads on the bottom that keep the keyboard in place, except for the legs (see Cons)

Cons: -The F9 key, which serves as the Windows key lock, has a red led light on it to show when its active - this led is extremely bright and is very distracting hence I never use this feature of the keyboard which is a shame since sometimes I hit the windows key on accident. Not too big of a deal though.
-The little legs that pop up to stand the keyboard up aren't rubber tipped so the keyboard slides around on the desk despite how heavy it is.

Other Thoughts: First mechanical keyboard and I am never turning back. :) I love this keyboard for typing, gaming, and general web surfing.

Sometimes when you barely touch a key the key press will repeat very quickly, but I think that's the nature of the blue switches and not the keyboard itself.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Mechanical keyboard!

Pros: When you first hold it, you will know its a quality keyboard because it has some weight to it. Really nice since I don't have to worry about it sliding everywhere when playing games. I got the red switches version of this keyboard and its really great. Input is quick, has removable USB so if anything happens to the cord, you don't have to spend another 90 dollars on a keyboard. A cheap usb to usb cable from radio shack or best buy works perfectly. Haven't had any issues with it so far.

Cons: Like the other review of this keyboard, i just wished if CM had put the USB port in the center of the keyboard but that's really a personal preference.

Other Thoughts: Shipped and delivered really quick. Even with the "eggsaver" shipping option, I got it in less than 3 days.

5 out of 5 eggsAmazing Keyobard

Pros: - A very sturdy keyboard...heavy
- Nice quality of materials used
- Comes with different key caps for WASD and windows keys
- Nice feel with the MX blues
- A proper, durable full USB port..not those Micro-USB ones that always break
- USB or PS/2 connectivity

Overall a very good keyboard, 10/10 would recommend.

Cons: None so far.

5 out of 5 eggsBest standard+media ever

Pros: Great clicky feel for typing. Not quite buckling-spring (like the old IBM keyboards) but closest I have gotten. Satisfying travel and sound. It is quite loud, so if typing quietly while webcamming is important, don't get this. Or get it anyway b/c it's worth it.

Windows key lock is a good feature for gaming.

N-key rollover via ps/2 is good. No ghosting whatsoever. Didn't try on USB.

Cable is a normal-sized USB plug, which can also disconnect from the keyboard itself.

Cons: Wish the media keys didn't require a Fn keypress, but it's a minor gripe.

Not backlit, but doesn't matter. I'd rather the LEDs not burn out/distract.

Other Thoughts: Wish there was something this good in a split/ergonomic form factor.

5 out of 5 eggsQuality mechanical keyboard

Pros: First impressions written on the XT:
THANK YOU CM for coming through with making this keyboard. Having used a rapid, the quickfire XT is essentially a full sized quickfire rapid with some minor revisions, which is a great thing. Both are sturdy boards manufactured in Taiwan, have a nice rubberized finish, and are minimalistic in terms of features and appearance. The braided detachable full size USB to USB connector is a nice update to help dispel worries about poor connections over time. In addition, the overall keyboard height feels slightly slimmer which is nice for those that prefer not to use a separate wrist pad. For those who aren't familiar with the cherry mx switch types, the cherry mx blues provide a satisfying typing experience due to the tactile click. This is the keyboard to get for those looking for a compact, quality, full sized keyboard comparable to the higher priced Filco majestouch-2.

Cons: Like it or not, the font on the keycaps is more gamer oriented than it is standard. The lighting scheme is bright red for caps lock/etc (which can be a pro or con depending on taste).
