4 out of 5 eggsPretty awesome for the price.

This review is from: CM Storm Devastator - LED Gaming Keyboard and Mouse Combo Bundle (Blue Edition)

Pros: Bright enough to see in the dark, which was 99% what I was looking for in a new keyboard. Mission accomplished.

Couple of extra mouse buttons that you may or may not have use for.

Overall, simple equipment for a good price.

Cons: Scroll Lock is the "turn the LEDs on/off" key, so if you want the lights on while you're using a program where Scroll Lock does something, you're gonna have a bad time.

Mouse wheel seems to squeak intermittently.

Other Thoughts: As far as "responsiveness" and other things people look for in gaming keyboards/mice, I have to say I really haven't noticed any difference between these and my previous setup.

There also aren't any extra programmable keys. I didn't put this as a pro or con because you might or might not be looking for that particular feature.

I wasn't looking for something that could make or break the final round of a million dollar tournament; I wanted a keyboard and mouse I could see in the dark, and for $30 I really don't think I could ask for a better set.

2 out of 5 eggsDecent keyboard, funky mouse

This review is from: CM Storm Devastator - LED Gaming Keyboard and Mouse Combo Bundle (Blue Edition)

Pros: Keyboard lights up! Keyboard does all that you expect. The price is decent for the combo. I replace my work mouse just for the back/forward buttons on the thumb. Geometry of mouse is decent.

Cons: When I scroll with the mouse, about 1 in 4 times the page will scroll the opposite direction instead. Imagine scroll-down, scroll-down, scroll-down, scroll-up for four scroll-down wheel rotations: you only end up two down and the screen ends up jittery.
The keyboard keys are a little taller than any other keyboard I've used (besides maybe mechanical), so it took some getting used to. The scroll lock key as backlight key is funky but I haven't had any issues with it.
The DPI of the mouse is a single button that scrolls through the three settings. I can't imagine using this 'on the fly' since you can't just change it up or down but rather have to go through the order: Normal, Sensitive, Very Sensitive, back to Normal...

Other Thoughts: I basically have to use page up and page down to scroll around pages. I gain the forward and back buttons but it's a weird trade-off to have to consider.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Keyboard For The Price

This review is from: CM Storm Devastator - LED Gaming Keyboard and Mouse Combo Bundle (Blue Edition)

Pros: Its a great combo, and for the price its even better. Generic wired keyboard and mouse combos come at this price, plus this keyboard has leds. The cord is a good length also

Cons: None

3 out of 5 eggsCheap

This review is from: CM Storm Devastator - LED Gaming Keyboard and Mouse Combo Bundle (Blue Edition)

Pros: Wanted a backlit keyboard so i could work/game in low lighting... for $30, kb+mouse was too good to pass up. I'd do that price for kb alone.
Lighting works, and is very vibrant

Cons: Mouse is horrendous. It hasn't broken completely yet, but after 2+ weeks the scroll starts going in the opposite direction from your active scroll (you scrolling down, it will randomly scroll up). The scroll wheel develops this weird sound/jerking feeling, and almost looks like its bent. - jerking scroll WILL HAPPEN TO YOURS

Keyboard uses the scroll lock to turn on the light - have to hit it with every restart. Using excel with the scroll lock on is painful. Why not just have a permanent on/off switch on the side....?

Other Thoughts: You have mini-keyboards (small size), then standard, then this! Not really a negative, but both the keyboard and mouse feel like they were made using the hand dimensions of a 6ft-5in bball player (big hands). Fine once you get used to it, but large. Might make it harder to hit the wrong key i guess.

Nothing about this product really screams gaming. Especially since the mouse has SERIOUS practical issues (scroll) which will affect your game if you need to scroll.

I got it for the backlit keyboard period, and so far that's the only part about this product that I still like. Manufacturing on this is poor, design choices poor. Depending on your situation, this might be a good enough fit for you. I'm still actively using mine daily so there's that.

Spending extra for something better really might be for the best, especially if you really do want/need a mouse.

2 out of 5 eggsPoor Quality

This review is from: CM Storm Devastator - LED Gaming Keyboard and Mouse Combo Bundle (Blue Edition)

Pros: The product is cheap, you get what you pay for. Lights are cool, minimal buttons on the mouse design are a plus.

Cons: The scroll wheel went out on the mouse (started to squeak and jump up/down randomly whilst scrolling) 4 days into use. I sent the mouse in for RMA and didn't receive an update from them for 2 weeks AFTER the product arrived. I had to speak to a CoolerMaster service rep over a span of 14 e-mails to find out about my product and if I was able to pick it up since it had been in the warehouse for 2 weeks.

I purchased the green set, and when I got my mouse back, the LED was blue! How does that even happen? Terrible manufacturer.

Oh, and the mouse I received that was "fixed" went out in the same fashion as the first, after only 3 hours of use!

Other Thoughts: Cooler Master customer support is utter trash, as is the durability of their product. I do not recommend buying this unless you plan on sending it in for RMA every month.

Manufacturer Response:

Hello Ron,

I apologize for all of the troubles you've received during this process and the delays at our warehouse is not helping much either. If you don't mind, please contact us directly through Fanzone (using Livechat) or call us at 888.624.5099 ext 2. Let us help rectify this situation for you.

Respectfully,

1 out of 5 eggsRipOff Report

This review is from: CM Storm Devastator - LED Gaming Keyboard and Mouse Combo Bundle (Blue Edition)

Pros: ewww prettyful lights...

Cons: OK. First and Foremost This is an unbiased review. I use cooler master products in customer's builds, and decided to give it a try.

Let's Start out with the keyboard:
It is NOT a mechanical keyboard.
It is a pile of garbage.
The image during marketing shows blue, red, or green lights which looks as though there is no accessable area where (s word) can fall in your keyboard. Meaning it looks solid. It is not. It is just like a standard almost logitech like with gaps in between the keys for (s word) to fall in. the only difference is the lights and where the key fasteners are located it allows the color to come through.
On several occasions during RTS (real time strategy) gameplay the buttons did not register about 3 keys do not work properly f2 4, and some keys are delayed and doesn't function fast enough to my likeness. It does not have a clicking sound, nor does it have the mechanical feel like the 80s boards had. or what industry standard GAMING KEYBOARDS are suppose to be.

Now for the mouse:
Horrible
On the mouse there are two side rubber like substance for grip. However this is counter productive and it slides right off your fingers providing you 0 grip. You basically have to wear it in. like the substance is super smooth and have to wear it for you to grip it better over time. very poor quality. the dpi button does work but VERY little difference. does not work like a gaming mouse should. Also, The scroll wheel is super flimsy and cheaply made. while scrolling it goes the wrong direction and studders and does not scroll correctly. during gameplay in AC4 selecting a weapon is a nightmare. While scrolling down it shoots upward, you go super slow you might hit the mark. other than that it is a premier paper weight, that I am completely dissatisfied with, and hope you guys NEVER get bent over by coolermaster on this one.

Other Thoughts: Cheaply made Chinese garbage that probably contains lead like barbie dolls. Thanks cooler master. I will be calling your support at 11am my time. I will not be spending any more of my hard earned money to "ship" this (s word) back to you to repair or replace with the same pile of "used" (s word). Also, I will not be purchasing any more coolermaster products for customers or myself. I will also learn them on the importance of quality especially within the gaming world. How can I trust a 120v seidon series water cooler to perform like it should and not fail and burn out a CPU, when this product is a cheaply made pile of garbage. so frustrated. I have to call my customers and take that cooler out as well. I just don't trust it now. so thanks CM now i have to call all my customers and recall their parts due to my integrity..

Manufacturer Response:

Hello John,

We apologize that the Devastator keyboard+mouse combo does not live up to your expectations. Note that nowhere do we advertise the Devastator as a mechanical keyboard. Unfortunately it is impossible to deliver a backlit mechanical gaming keyboard for a price point of $29.99, seeing as how the BOM cost of the switches and LEDs alone would approach $25-$30, plus the other components and manufacturing cost. If you want a keyboard that provides the tactile, clicky feeling and sound of a mechanical keyboard, we recommend purchasing one of our CM Storm Rapid or Trigger keyboards with Cherry MX Blue switches.

It does sound like your Devastator may be faulty, if some keys are not registering. If this is the case, please feel free to contact our customer support at 888-624-5099 so that we can initiate the RMA process and get you a working keyboard ASAP. You can also start an RMA through our CM FanZone website, linked down below.

I hope we can resolve your issue, and we value your feedback.

Michael P.

2 out of 5 eggsMeh

This review is from: CM Storm Devastator - LED Gaming Keyboard and Mouse Combo Bundle (Blue Edition)

Pros: Looks cool, but must use keyboard backlight, or know where your keys are. Not visible without backlight.

Cons: The mouse scroll wheel is garbage. does not scroll smoothly, pages bounce alot while scrolling. Have not been able to figure a workaround.

Other Thoughts: You get what you pay for. May want to spend the extra & get something decent.

Manufacturer Response:

Hello Al,

I'm sorry to hear that you're having issues with your mouse. Please return/exchange the mouse with Newegg/Original Vendor or we can help to replace the set through an RMA. I have provided the link below to our FanZone and an RMA instructional link. I would recommend having your serial number and a photo of your purchase receipt. Register your product and then you can apply for an RMA under MY PRODUCTS. We will approve your request. Once you receive your RMA number, write it clearly on the shipping box to help expedite the process. Shipping the product to our facility is the customer’s responsibility. We will cover the replacement and shipping that replacement to you.

Also, we have the option for an Advance RMA. If you would like to commit to an Advance RMA where we authorize a cross shipment, please complete the following steps. Make sure you have your RMA number ready, call us at 888-624-5099 ext 2, M-F 7:30am PST to 5pm PST. Once you get a hold of a representative, they will ask for your RMA number, credit card information, and a digital copy of your Photo ID for liability. We do not charge the card, unless we do not receive the defective product in a reasonable amount of time after you receive the replacement.

If you have any further comments or questions, please let me know by dialing 888.624.5099 or use the Livechat & Ticket links within Fanzone.

3 out of 5 eggsValue

This review is from: CM Storm Devastator - LED Gaming Keyboard and Mouse Combo Bundle (Blue Edition)

Pros: Good looking, cheap keyboard and mouse. Mouse acceleration button is a great add on as well as the forward and back buttons on the side. The rubber on the side allows easy grip. Long chords on both. Keyboard looks good but...(see cons)

Cons: My keyboard LED does not work. For me, its not worth sending it back and waiting for a replacement. I'll just deal with it until i get the money to get a nice mechanical keyboard. Also, volume and multimedia keys are VERY clunky. if you don't press directly in the center, the button sticks and will not press.

Other Thoughts: For $30 to get a usb wired mouse and usb wired keyboard its worth. Although the keyboard is loud and my LED doesnt work, its still comfortable and again, $30.
