5 out of 5 eggsGood Keyboard for the Price

Pros: This keyboard has solid construction and will stand up to a lot of hard use. The large backspace key is handy for those of us who could stand to improve our typing. :)

Cons: None worth mentioning.

Other Thoughts: We ship this keyboard with all of our workstations and servers and have never had a client complaint. We have a beige model connected to our shop server that has been in service for nearly 10 years. The letters are starting to wear off the keycaps (E is almost invisible) but the keyboard itself works like new.

5 out of 5 eggsWrong Picture

Pros: This is the best built keyboard that I have ever used that sells for less than $80. It is heavy, so it doesn't shift around. The keys click (no tactile release, just sound) like a mechanical, but it is cheap because it is just a membrane. I have been using these for close to 10 years and love them. Great for typing, not necessarily great for gaming. I really think it is comparable to the old IBM model M, which I also have and love. Feels very solid. I have yet to see a broken one.

Cons: Large footprint.

Other Thoughts: The pictures here at NewEgg are wrong! They have the Keytronic xxx01 models shown as standard enter key and the xxx00 models as "L" shaped enter key. NewEgg needs to reverse the photos. This model is standard "straight" enter key, not large "L" shaped enter key.

This company makes a lot of models, but this is the only one that does not have the large "L" shaped enter key. I wish Keytronic made all of their models in a "standard IBM" layout version. I dislike the large "L" enter key on the Keytronic xxx01 models because they have a smaller backspace and repositioned backslash keys.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: More durably built than your average membrane keyboard. Good tactile feedback, though quieter than a mechanical keyswitch keyboard. Key feel is also better than a standard membrane keyboard. Has the look of a Model M without the noise.

Cons: Compared to a mechanical keyboard like the Model M, the feel of the keys still does not compare. There are some quality control issues, as on my keyboard the LED for the caps lock does not work. It has a large footprint, so those with limited space should not get this keyboard. The fact that it's PS/2 might also be an issue for some.

Other Thoughts: Compared to other membrane keyboards, this one is definitely a cut above the rest. Compared to mechanical keyboards, it does not match their quality of build or their tactile feedback and feel. If you're looking for a keyboard with feedback that is still quiet and doesn't have any bells or whistles, this is your keyboard. If space is at a premium and you don't have an available PS/2 port on your computer, or if you want a silent keyboard, look for something else. If you want an old-school keyboard, I would spend the extra money on something like a new Unicomp as this is not a good compromise for the Model M or other such clicky keyboards.

2 out of 5 eggsNothing special, loud for membrane.

Pros: Standard layout I like, good "feet"

Cons: Loud despite being membrane; Keys are not removable. Well actually they come off fairly easily, but then they wont stay back on. Very easy to break. Also the feel of it is nothing special.

Other Thoughts: For this price, I suspect you're just paying for the warranty. I think I'm going to try unicomp or daskeyboard (mechanical keyswitches)

5 out of 5 eggsGreat for software developers

Pros: Excellent keyboard for software development or any other application where access to the Escape and function keys is important. I've been using this keyboard with various unix software development tools and editors for about 6 weeks and it's by far the best I've ever used. Access to the shift + top row, curly braces, function keys, and escape is very easy because of the upward curvature. Reminds me of the Silicon Graphics granite keyboard of the mid 90s. I don't normally write reviews, but I hope this helps someone looking for a great developer's keyboard without all the internet and media player guff keys you get on other keyboards.

Cons: Coloured Esc and F keys would be perfect cake icing.

Other Thoughts: You can write the word typewriter using just the top row!

5 out of 5 eggsThe Search Is Over!

Pros: Finally - a solid, very well built, no-frills keyboard with excellent key action. I purchased 5 keyboards from other well known manufacturers before trying this brand. This is the first keyboard I've owned where the keys feel solid and heavy, while the keys on other boards felt light and thin. The keys even sound different too, when pressed. Very nice quality. I've been using this keyboard for 6 months now and it feels just like the day I bought it. Works great for work and gaming. If you're looking for a simple keyboard without all the extra keys for audio and internet, this is a great choice. I'm very satisfied with this one.

Cons: The only downside is the footprint. This is a full-sized keyboard with what seems like a lot of wasted space above the function keys. If you need a smaller, space-saving keyboard, look elsewhere.

Other Thoughts: This keyboard has a regular shaped Enter key - not the larger L shaped type. This means the backslash key is in the standard position above the Enter key. I mention this because I also purchased a model with the L shaped Enter key and drove me crazy looking for the repositioned backslash.
