2 out of 5 eggsNot a Favorite

Pros: It's small, and the keys seems to work fine. Purely on a mechanical level, it seems to be a solid device/

Cons: The numlock functions like on a laptop keyboard (meaning that it overrides some of the letter keys in favor of numbers), and it is on at system power-up, meaning I have to remmeber to turn it off every time. Very annoying.

The Function key is in the bottom left corner where the CTRL key typically would be.

These two things together mean I will seeing about returning the keyboard to get a different one.

Other Thoughts: Keyboard I got was not the same on pictured.

2 out of 5 eggsCTRL/FN swap ruins an otherwise great keyboard

Pros: size, feel, price

Cons: I use CTRL-C/CTRL-V all of the time. CTRL-C being in wrong place is a continual pain in the a**. I would buy one of these for work as well as home if the CTRL-C/FN buttons were switched.

1 out of 5 eggsNum-lock key does not work

Pros: Small design
comfortable
cheap

Cons: Num-lock is permanently stuck on. Meaning that you have to hold the function key to use the left side of the keyboard.

Other Thoughts: Good job "X-Gene". You have managed to completely fail at selling a functional keyboard.

3 out of 5 eggskeyboard works but

Pros: keyboard works

Cons: keyboard I received isn't exactly the same as that received in photo even though it has X-Gene sticker on back with part# 01021. The most obvious problem is that this keyboard has Fn & Ctrl keyboard swapped. Fn key is on lower left, and Ctrl key just to the right of that. A minor thing like that slows down my typing substantially. The upside is that the Fn key pops out cleanly.

1 out of 5 eggsWon't know how good it could have been

Pros: Looking forward to the small size

Cons: Broken on arrival

Other Thoughts: Couldn't use because the space bar was broken on arrival

4 out of 5 eggsMisleading Picture

Pros: Mini-keyboard leaves extra desk space.

Cons: Picture does not match product. The "Backspace" key is half size and right next to the "Home" key. Yes, I have hit home so many times I removed the key from my first purchase. I purchased this keyboard as a replacement and for the full sized Backspace key. :-(

4 out of 5 eggsdifferent model from picture shipped

Pros: Boxy with a soft arch at the top. Works with crisp keys.

Cons: Considering I chose this model intending to receive the one exactly pictured, the extra navigation/quicklinks and media playback keys were not a sought-out plus, as part of the reason I sought this normal key-size keyboard without the side number pad was to minimize the width of the board but also the "unnecessary keys." This wrong shipment probably isn't worth returning for the more vintage/classic type; however, there are more than two differences that can make adjusting to this too difficult to be worth using in the long term. Those other differences are, as described by other reviewers, the fact that there's no large backspace button, and that the blue Fn button replaces the convenient and easy to access corner position of the Ctrl button in the original photo.

Other Thoughts: Perhaps these obstacles to habitual and conveniently-placed keys will slow down my typing in a positive way such that it prevents hasty inputs and more care will go into tasks that need "productivity" speeds, none of which, I'm starting to convince myself, seem so important to require a faster-access key placement. Though I preferred more efficient post-error correction, in retrospect, it might just be worth trying out this different keyboard than advertised, if it helps prevent my hasty-typing tendency.

1 out of 5 eggsKeys don't work

Pros: Small

Cons: Right from when I purchased it, the space bar does not work. You have to bang on it before it registers a space. Same problem with several other keys. They are not light touch or quality at all.

Other Thoughts: Also, the Ctrl key is in the wrong place. I use shortcuts a lot but with this new keyboard I was always hitting the Fn instead.

4 out of 5 eggsgood compact keyboard

Pros: Has proper "feel", USB interface works well.

Cons: Fn and Ctrl keys should be swapped, would prefer backslash to be between enter and backspace, but is in good enough position. Expensive for a simple keyboard.

Other Thoughts: We have about a dozen of this model keyboard.
Some XP computers tend to turn on number lock automatically, making this keyboard almost useless until you turn off number lock each time you boot the computer.
