2 out of 5 eggsFailed To Last

This review is from: Tt eSPORTS Poseidon Z Illuminated Mechanical Gaming Keyboard - Blue Switches

Pros: The keyboard feels solid, has a good "feel" while typing, and seemed to work well...while it lasted. Key characters did not fade, smudge, or come off in over a year.

Cons: First the number 8 key failed; really annoying when you have a password that contains an 8 and you can't understand why your log ins fail all the time. After that, started getting multiple character insertions, and then it would skip the "s" every time I typed it and then the whole computer started to go nuts, with windows flying open and screens popping up.

Other Thoughts: I don't review products very often, but I was very disappointed in this "mechanical" keyboard. I understand a $15-$20 keyboard is likely to fail after some time, but this was considerably more expensive than that and should have been better quality. My experience is right in line with several other reviewers; it worked great at first, but then within a year of moderate use began malfunctioning and now it is impossible to use at all. I determined my problems were with the keyboard, one, because I've seen this sort of sudden screen-opening problems before, and two, I unplugged the keyboard, the problem went away, put the keyboard back, the problems returned, substituted a different keyboard and no more problems. Although this product looks good on paper, I really would not recommend it to anybody considering the price and short lifespan.

4 out of 5 eggsExcellent

This review is from: Tt eSPORTS Poseidon Z Illuminated Mechanical Gaming Keyboard - Blue Switches

Pros: Pretty much everything I needed in a keyboard.
Durable
Blue Switches
Variable Led
Rubber Lining on fold out bottom pegs

Cons: Blue, so so blue.

Other Thoughts: I didn't want a wrist rest so no eggs taken off for that. The switches might not be authentic MX Blues, they feel like they don't need as much force to actuate compared to the ones on my MX switch tester. They are however basically the same in every other way.

5 out of 5 eggsNice for the price

This review is from: Tt eSPORTS Poseidon Z Illuminated Mechanical Gaming Keyboard - Blue Switches

Pros: Cheap
Good quality
Heavy

Cons: Lifespan

Other Thoughts: This keyboard lasted me for about 1 year and is no longer working properly. If I press a key such as 'e' it will input the letter 3 times with only one key press. This makes it hard to type long messages and affects moving with 'WASD' in games.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat keyboard

This review is from: Tt eSPORTS Poseidon Z Illuminated Mechanical Gaming Keyboard - Blue Switches

Pros: long lasting, easy to use, the clicks key sounds don't bother me and I love the heavy weight of the keyboard not a cheap light feel.
I have been using this one for about 4 years with absolutely no problems and I like the key lit up. My typing speed has increased considerably. I am going to by a second one for my other computer. this one has the brown switch very reliable.

Cons: only tiny complaint is the Caps Light is very bright so I put a small blue sticker over it to make it less bright.

Other Thoughts: Great keyboard for the price and I am on my computer many hours a day. every day I'm over 65 and I brought this keyboard when it was on sale from Newegg

5 out of 5 eggsPoseidon Z

This review is from: Tt eSPORTS Poseidon Z Illuminated Mechanical Gaming Keyboard - Blue Switches

Pros: This is my 1st mechanical keyboard and I absolutely love it. Some complain about the brightness of the LED's when they have 3 levels of brightness, and you can turn it off. I have owned for almost a year and I just broke a keyboard cap, nothing major just a keyboard cap. I am awaiting a reply from support. Never had issues with drivers or keys sticking or doubling. Looks really good and feels just as good to type.

Cons: Manufacturer does not seem to sell the "o" rings, to reduce the noise.
I downloaded an app to measure just how loud this keyboard is. The sound in my room was at 55dB and typing, the average was 68, peaking at 76dB.

Other Thoughts: Considering this has a 5 year warranty, I would recommend this. It is affordable with the longest warranty on the market. The price is great too. Very sturdy product. Reliable except one keyboard cap broke, but maybe that is because I tend to exert too much force on keys.

2 out of 5 eggsWorked well for about 8 months

This review is from: Tt eSPORTS Poseidon Z Illuminated Mechanical Gaming Keyboard - Blue Switches

Pros: Price
backlight keys are cool
feel

Cons: Dual keystrokes started showing up after about 6-7 months of use

Other Thoughts: Like a lot of other reviews, I'm also experiencing double presses due to the low quality switches they use in this keyboard. For me, it's mostly the B 2 and 4 keys that double press.

If you're looking for a mechanical keyboard I would not recommend this one! Spend the extra $20-$30 and get something with Cherry MX switches.

1 out of 5 eggsNot worth it

This review is from: Tt eSPORTS Poseidon Z Illuminated Mechanical Gaming Keyboard - Blue Switches

Pros: Nothing

Cons: The keys are junk and constantly repeat when typing, when I am trying to work on a program it drives me nuts when it constantly retypes letters. Sometime it can retype them up to 4 times. I wish I did my research before making this purchase. Do yourself a favor and invest in a keyboard with actual cherry mx keys. The ones that this keyboard uses are terrible and wear out.

1 out of 5 eggsPiece of junk

This review is from: Tt eSPORTS Poseidon Z Illuminated Mechanical Gaming Keyboard - Blue Switches

Pros: Nothing

Cons: After 1 year of use all of the keys double type every other letter when typing, it is extremely annoying when you are trying to program and it continues to miss type every other word. I don't recommend this as all. It was my mistake of buying it.

4 out of 5 eggsQuality keyboard for price, but not high end

This review is from: Tt eSPORTS Poseidon Z Illuminated Mechanical Gaming Keyboard - Blue Switches

Pros: Full standard keyboard layout with no major gripes like a smaller backspace or a large return key like on UK keyboard layouts.
Comes with a full numeric keypad which I find to be very helpful as I'm much faster on a numeric keypad than I am with the inline number keys.
Windows lock button for when you're gaming so you don't accidentally hit the Windows button and interrupt your game play.
A total of 7 media keys that include 4 media playback keys as well as 3 volume control keys that can be accessed while holding in the Fn key.
Fully back-lit keyboard with 2 back-light adjustment keys that can also be accessed while holding in the Fn key.
The blue LED lights are not as distracting as some LED lights are on keyboards and are actually somewhat soothing in my opinion.
Mechanical blue switches which provide a fun typing experience similar to that of a typewriter. The blue switches provide plenty of audible and tactile feedback to let you know when the actuation point has occurred.
Strong and sturdy build with no keyboard flex when typing and only a slight amount of flex when real pressure is applied when attempting to twist the keyboard. Kudos to Thermaltake for that.
6-8 key rollover to ensure that your keystrokes are registered properly while typing and gaming.
Fold out feet that allow for a more comfortable and slightly more ergonomic typing experience.
Nice rubber pads on the bottom of the keyboard to prevent sliding when doing some serious typing or gaming. Rubber pads are also on the bottoms of the fold out feet. A nice touch by Thermaltake once again.
Channel on the bottom of the keyboard that allows for slight cable management towards either the left or the right.
The 50 million keystroke rating is reassuring of the quality of the key switches and the 5 year warranty is a nice bonus.
The keyboard is compatible across some of the major operating systems as some keyboards don't function properly in different operating systems. For instance, some of the functionality of the Corsair Vengeance K70 keyboard doesn't operate properly in Ubuntu Linux, but works just fine in Microsoft Windows 7, 8, and 8.1. Haven't tested it on Mac OS X yet though.
Kailh key switches are compatible with Cherry MX keycaps so if you ever find yourself replacing a keycap, Cherry MX keycaps work just fine.
The price of this keyboard is one of the lowest that you'll find in the awesome market of mechanical keyboards. I wanted a mechanical keyboard that was both inexpensive and provided me with a satisfying typing experience. The Kailh switches are the main reason why this keyboard is so inexpensive as they are manufactured in China, whereas the competitor Cherry MX switches are manufactured in Germany. The Kailh switches prove to have a satisfying quality of their own, but one that is still similar enough to Cherry MX switches for people that have used Cherry MX on previous keyboards.

Cons: Please bare in mind that some of these cons are situational and may not apply directly to you.

The 4 media playback keys are placed on the F1-F4 keys on the top left of the keyboard, but the Fn key to actually use those keys is on the bottom right of the keyboard. I tend to listen to music quite a lot while working on my computer and use keyboard shortcuts frequently, but my short hands can't span the length of the keyboard to access those media buttons. I would've liked to see these media keys moved to the F9-F12 keys and moved the back-light adjustment keys to F3 and F4 or something like that in order to make the media keys easier to reach and use with just one hand as I never use the back-light adjustment keys because the default light setting is seems just fine.
I also would've liked to have seen actual dedicated media playback and volume buttons. No need to make those utilities require an additional keystroke that's located on the opposite side of the keyboard.
The LED lights don't illuminate the whole key for keys that have dual functionality (which is actually about half the keys). The bottom half of the key remains very dimly back-lit in comparison to the top half of the key. This is because under the keycap the LED light is positioned at the top of the switch, which doesn't provide consistent back-lighting throughout the keycap.
The lack of a wrist rest is somewhat annoying as it would definitely add to the typing experience.
The Poseidon Z doesn't provide macro key customizability or multi color LED back-lighting.
Harder to clean because it doesn't provide an open sided appearance like that of many Corsair mechanical keyboards such as the Corsair K70 RGB keyboard (the Corsair K70 RGB keyboard also solves both of the previously mentioned back-lighting issues, the dedicated media keys issue as well as the wrist rest issue).
Kailh switches are good, but just not quite as good as Cherry MX in my personal opinion. They definitely still provide a satisfying typing experience, but my personal preference is to use Cherry MX switches.
The keyboard is somewhat loud when you bottom out the keys; however, this can easily be remedied by using o rings as Kailh switches are conveniently manufactured to be compatible with Cherry MX keycaps.
Also, on my personal Poseidon Z keyboard, the key switches in the spacebar are defective and register before the audible click is heard and only requires a very, very slight amount of force to actually make the keystroke register, which is annoying because I will often barely even bump the key and another space will register when I don't want it to.
The scroll lock LED light may be broken on my keyboard as the light indicator doesn't respond to the key is pressed.

Other Thoughts: Overall, a very good keyboard for the price with a surprisingly good build quality. The blue Kailh switches provide nice audible and tactile feedback with a good life expectancy. The blue LED back-lighting provides a classy look that is often associated with mechanical keyboards and is not an "in your face" color that is too distracting. The Poseidon Z keyboard is very similar to many other mechanical keyboards on the market, but mainly distinguishes itself with the utilization of Kailh blue switches and it's unparalleled pricing. If you're looking for a keyboard that offers a wide range of customizability with colors and macro keys, you should probably look elsewhere. But if you're looking for an inexpensive mechanical keyboard that simply offers good typing and keyboard functionality as well as some slight gaming functionality while maintaining a fairly comfortable typing experience, the Poseidon Z is for you.

1 out of 5 eggsNice look, doesn't type right.

This review is from: Tt eSPORTS Poseidon Z Illuminated Mechanical Gaming Keyboard - Blue Switches

Pros: Awesome blue LED lighting.

Cons: As many others here have said, after a few weeks of normal usage I had to send in for a warranty replacement, only to have the replacement keyboard break on me too. The keys started double typing (liike thiiss). I guess it is from not being authentic Cherry MX Blue switches. These are cheap knockoffs.

Other Thoughts: This was my first mechanical keyboard, going to try real Cherry MX Blue now. Wish me luck.
