4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: HUGE drawing area, responsive pen

Cons: off-brand design is identical to another manufacturer's which broke after less than a year

Other Thoughts: Two years ago, I bought a VisTablet 10" graphics tablet. It worked brilliantly for about a year, then decided it was ready for retirement. This one is physically identical to that one in every respect except the branding. The same software, the same pen, the same tablet.

I knew it was just like that when I purchased it, which is why I invested in a 3 year replacement plan. If I can get 3 years of use out of it, I will be happy.

That's the negative part. What I like about this tablet is how huge it is. It's large enough that mapping the tablet to the screen in my head is intuitive, unlike with smaller tablets. I can quickly move the pen around and click a button with little thought, something that I could never do with my 6" bamboo tablet.

The pen is responsive, and the software provides a quick and easy pressure adjustment, complete with on-screen display. This makes configuring the pen the work of 5 minutes, instead of the week or so of tweaks I've dealt with in the past.

The pressure sensitivity of the pen covers a nice range, from so light you're not sure you're quite touching the surface, to bearing down harder than I ever would with a real pen/marker/paintbrush. This keeps the amount of adjusting I need to do in Photoshop (or GIMP) down to a minimum, as just a few quick adjustments map out my desired responsiveness to my natural feel for pressure.

There are no bells and whistles, beyond a handwriting-recognition input option that's available whenever the tablet is plugged in, but that's okay. It just means less time spent getting to know your new tablet.

All in all, I would definitely recommend this. Even with the replacement plan, the price tag was less than 1/2 of that of any comparable name brand tablet. The 1024 pressure levels are more than enough for even the most detailed work, and the huge area makes using the tablet for normal point-and-click work a breeze.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat tablet for the price

Pros: I was looking to buy a good sized tablet for basic design/artistic purposes. I was originally aiming for a Wacom product from previous ownership/experience, however, given the price of even the intro (and small...) Intuos, I would have been restricted to a Bamboo, which are good for functionality/navigation but not so great for artistic work. So I searched around/read reviews for a few other brands and products, and was attracted to this model for its feature set and size. This model is a great size. Not too small, yet not overly big on a desk top. It's VERY thin (about 4-5mm) yet feels sturdy. Velcro strap for USB cable. Nicely weighted pen (with extra tips). Heavy solid rubber pen holder. Plug and play with Vista and Windows 7. Three layer top design: base sensor level, removable/changeable paper layer (with function icons--reversible between Vista/XP icons), and well textured top layer that very well resists scratches and has a great feel with the supplied pen.

Cons: None, at least not yet. I've only owned for a week so no comment on longevity of the product.

Other Thoughts: Great sensor range--feels fluid transitioning between levels. Software decent, nothing special, but free and beneficial none the less. The driver disk contains the programmable buttons management software. Very easy to change and LOTS of buttons.

If price isn't an issue, an Intuos is probably your safest, most efficient bet, but if looking to get a great product for a great price, this tablet comes highly recommended. Especially for non-professionals. Great for Photoshop work, writing notes, ArtRage/drawing applications, etc. Vista also recognizes the input device's navigational gestures (back, forward, etc--also customizeable).

Overall, great product--especially at the price (although can be found cheaper elsewhere online--I did not buy from Newegg, but I still have plenty of Egg Love).

2 out of 5 eggsbeware osx 10.5 users

Pros: big, slim, hardware is nice for the price

Cons: software/drivers buggy and very incomplete for osx 10.5, this despite advertising as osx compatible.

Other Thoughts: I bought it for a mac, the software has many bugs and can not enable all functionality. apparently the osx drivers are under development, but if you need all of this tablets advertised software features, be advised that current of this writing they aren't available.

3 out of 5 eggsGood tablet, bad pen.

Pros: Very nice, large, thin table. Feels very nice. Thin but sturdy.

Cons: Pen takes a battery and is somewhat cheaply made. Not a problem as long as your careful when replacing the battery. With a battery in and the pen assembled it feels just fine but when you open it you can tell it is very cheap plastic and the negative side battery spring is held on by one little screw sunk into cheap plastic. That part could have been much better. If they had made the pen the same quality as the tablet this could definitely compete with a Wacom Bamboo. But I had to return it and get the Bamboo Pen and Touch which I am very happy with.

Other Thoughts: The pen is pretty darn cheap. This would be a winner if it came with a nice sturdy metal pen like a business man would use.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome Device!

Pros: Everything. Works perfectly, very sensitive...awesome for Photoshop (CS4)

To answer the question regarding Windows Journal, it works for it.

Cons: Programmable buttons, while well designed, aren't properly labeled (in Windows 7 RTM), fortunately they're customizable and you can disable them.

5 out of 5 eggsSimply, amazing...

Pros: 1) Pen is very easy to hold
2) Pen has a rubber holder that is bottom heavy
3) All tablet shortcut keys around the outside of the board are configurable and simple to turn off.
4) software customization is easy and simple.
5) Smooth surface and large canvas.
6) thin and still strong.
7) interchangeable mat for windows vista and xp.
8) USB cable Velcros to easily store
9) Pen is configurable.
10) Pen hook comes off and goes on with ease.
11) driver software for vista and xp are separate from the rest, so if you dont want them you dont have to have them.
12) Comes with Corel PhotoImpact 12 SE

There's a whole lot more trust me.

Cons: nothing, everything is customizable.

Other Thoughts: I didnt know about going for a 130 dollar item that noone has said anything about, but i needed a good tablet. I can honestly say, even after only having it for a day or so, that its the best tablet ive ever used.
