5 out of 5 eggsBest HTPC Mouse/Remote

Pros: Responsive, great range, does not need to be in line of site, IR and RF options, can use an existing remote for the IR programming via point and record of IR frequency. Really nice feature!

Cons: Finally stopped working after 3 years of hard use. This remote took such a beating and kept on ticking. It finally stopped working after my 3 year old slammed it on the floor for the last time.

Discontinued? /sigh

5 out of 5 eggsI like it, works with Windows 7!

Pros: I got this remote really cheap so I thought it was worth the gamble if it didn't work as advertised. I have to say, I am very impressed! I bought this to replace an ATI Remote Wonder when I upgraded my PC. I wish I had done this a long time ago! It works great as a mouse and has lots of other features that I didn't have with the Remote Wonder. Everything I have tried works with Windows 7. I had one problem with the music service not starting but I changed it to a delayed start and it works great now.
We use this to watch Hulu and videos on Windows Media Player on a TV connected to our PC. This remote will even control my TV and a old Kenwood CD player. I did have to program a few buttons for the Kenwood but it was really easy and works great.

Cons: None as of yet and we have been using it for a month or so.

Other Thoughts: This the first review I have written but I was so impressed with it I wanted to let eveyone know. If you were like me and hesitant I personally think it's worth it!

5 out of 5 eggsGreat HTPC Mouse and Keyboard combo.

Pros: The mouse can be used for more than just controlling the PC. The device codes were on the manufactures website. I can control my PC as well as my TV and my cable box. The mouse is basically the same as using a controller from a Wii. The keyboard is small, so it is much easier to leave on the coffee table. Range is not that bad. Not as nice as a bluetooth device, but still very reasonable for a large room.

Cons: Device code should be included with the documentation. And they should be easier to find on the website. I had to dig a bit. But it was worth it.

Other Thoughts: This is my second HTPC and my second keyboard/mouse. I have been very satisfied with this device and I would recommend it to others. Not to mention that Newegg has a great price.

5 out of 5 eggsworth every penny

Pros: I should have bought this remote a long time ago! Very responsive and easy to use.

Cons: Like the others said, the setup was kind of a pain. The box did not contain detailed instructions for programming it so I had to download instructions from the website. Once you get going it is pretty easy. Let me simplify the instructions to get future users going faster...

To program your TV:
1. Hold down the TV device button for a few secs unti you see the instructions (i will try to explain the parts that weren't so clear to me).
2. Click the power button to auto detect
3. Point the remote at your tv and keep clicking play until the tv turns off.
4. Now click the rewind button (<<) backstepping one code at a time until the tv turns back on.
5. Click the stop button and now your setup.

The other thing that was not clear was auto programming other devices like the dvd player. After following steps 1 and 2 above, click a number 1-6 for other device options. For example, 3 is for dvd player codes. I found this on accident and was pretty frustrated up until this point.

Other Thoughts: I didn't think I would use the music option but it's pretty cool. Takes a long time to initialize to your library and almost seems broke for a minute cause the hour glass sits there forever. Just give it a minute. I downloaded the software from gyration's site in the download section. Have had no problems with media player on windows 7.

3 out of 5 eggsNo win7 support, hard to program for remote function

Pros: Easy to setup for computer control.

Cons: Programming the remote to act as a universal remote is very frustrating and it does not work very well for this function. Gyration has stated that they do not intend to provide support for Windows 7 (http://www.gyration.com/index.php/us/community/forums/9-entertainment/96-using-gyration-mce-remote-with-windows-7.html)

Other Thoughts: I purchased this for almost $200 when I bought it. It has come down in price significantly since then which makes it overall a better value. However, I cannot get past the fact that the company is publicly stating that they don't intend to provide support for the newest, and most widely used, operating system. Gyration lost a lot of credibility by doing that in my opinion and made this product a terrible investment for anyone.

4 out of 5 eggsNice Kit

Pros: The device is easy to use and setup. The learning feature was my main reason for the purchase and works great. The mouse is accurate and fluid. Customer support is very responsive.

Cons: The remote will only learn 15 IR signals. The keyboard isn't as accurate and is cramped. Linux support isn't as prevalent as it could be.

Other Thoughts: The system is expensive, though in my opinion well worth it. The remote is large, but full of functionality. If the unit does not contain your device codes and you have to learn you have to be selective about what buttons you program. The documentation does not mention the 15 IR signal limit and the device just says "failed to learn key." Had to contact support to find the limit.

5 out of 5 eggsCan't Say enough

Pros: Controls my TV, Cable box, PC, and Receiver. Learning feature is great. Functions on 2.4 GHZ so when using it to control the PC I never have to point right at it. Keyboard is very handy too.

Cons: Takes some work to get the functions of the other remotes/devices progrommed in. Sometime I had to do it multiple times to get the function right, but when I did, I have not had a problem since.

Other Thoughts: I own two of these for two different TV/HTPC combos and my wife loves it too. Very functional, and the air mouse works like a Wii controller. Once you get used to it it is great. I would recommend this to any one making a HTPC to control everything.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent combo mouse and keyboard

Pros: I use this in combination with a media PC running Boxee connected to my LCD in the living room. Bought in January. So, almost 4 months weekly use.

Excellent products overall. "Mouse" remote takes a little getting used to, but it works well for controlling the mouse. (see cons about problems using it for anything else)

Keyboard is excellent. No disconnection issues. It just works. the reach on this thing is excellent. my receiver is about 15 feet from the couch and I've never had a problem with it not working from the kitchen (25 feet away) with no disconnects at all.

Cons: I haven't been able to get the remote to control anything except the PC. I've tried many times to get it to talk to the TV or other audio products with no success, which is a disappointment. The volume control works fine to control PC volume... but not the TV or cable box.

One of my kids did drop the keyboard on the floor once and broke one of the keys. I was able to reconnect the key, but that one key is a little wonky now. nothing to fault the manufacturer, just keep it safe from drops on a hardwood floor...

Other Thoughts: I need to see if there is a way to update the remote so that I cant get down to just ONE remote - which was my overall goal. So far unsuccessful. But the keyboard / mouse functions work great and it was worth the money just to get those working. I'd recommend the product to someone looking for a good way to control their media PC project.

overall, excellent product.

5 out of 5 eggsLove the kit

Pros: Easy initial setup, easy to use, great features. The remote is amazing. It is exact, intuitive and really easy to use.

Cons: Couldn't get the remote to accept and control my Sony audio box. Neither preprogrammed codes nor learning worked. Annoying since it means I still need to keep the Sony remote on the table.

Other Thoughts: After a week of using the remote I have become really proficient and am almost as quick and exact as with a mouse.
I like the fact that the remote can put the computer to sleep and also bring it out of sleep.
The keyboard is small and without a numeric keypad, just as I want it in the livingroom!
The keyboard lid can be turned around and fitted under the keyboard. Very convenient. Then it also has soft rubber patches that keep the keyboard from gliding around on a clean surface, however the remote does not have the rubber patches and you need to keep control of it (my cat likes pushing it around).
