Pros: I've been using these with my HTPC for years. Nothing else on the market has similar usability or tracking resolution for kicking back and watching some TV.

If you're in the market for one of these, be sure that the interaction between the gyros and mouse buttons is well thought out.

With the Gyration models, there is a trigger on the bottom of the mouse. You hold it to engage the gyro, and release it to lock the cursor in place (allowing you to precisely click or use the scroll wheel). This takes a minute or two to get used to, but quickly becomes second nature.

Cons: These things have a physical (but tiny) gyroscope in them that will break after a few drops onto a hardwood floor. Dropping on carpet is mostly OK (I've broken 2 of them over a 6 year period...). The good news is that the parts are easily interchangeable. (My current one is a Frankenstein combination of the two I broke...)

Like most wireless keyboard/mice combos, the RF is spotty (line of sight is best) but adequate; definitely plan on getting a USB extension cable to get it the receiver away from your machine.

Other Thoughts: For some reason, they decided to stick a regular mouse sensor (BRIGHT red LED) on the bottom of this thing. You can disable it by defeating the proximity sensor that turns the red LED on and off. Stick a piece of electric tape between the infrared LED and sensor (the hole at the front, bottom of the mouse with two things in it). If done properly, the LED will stay off 100% of the time. Once you get the LED to stay off, cover the whole mess with another piece of electrical tape.

Like most other mice / keyboards, there's no real reason to install the bundled software.

Pros: Small and easy to handle. Long battery life, connects easily

Cons: The mouse doesn't track very well on some surfaces.

Other Thoughts: I first bought this set in 2007 so I don't what generation that is. I use it on a HTPC. The mouse gets most of the use. The keyboard has gotten some use but mostly just sits. Keyboard has lost a couple of button covers and survived a few spills and keeps working. Mostly using the mouse on 2 different surfaces gets the job done. Never had any trouble with connection. The receiver is plugged into the back of the computer. Use the mouse all day long at 15 feet away without issue. Looking to replace the set with a new one. reading the reviews here seems like I need to wait for an updated set if I stick with Gyration.

Pros: Wireless would be nice if it wasn't DOA

Cons: Go mouse and keyboard never able to sych. Big disappointment esp for price point. I waited too long to open the box and well past return or warranty timeframes. My bad but who expects DOA these days?

Pros: Can use 10+ of these sets in the same area without interferrance. Just right size for media PC use.

Cons: We are a PC reseller and over the past years have sold and installed hundreds of these units (since the first gens). The second gen units fixed many issues and were GREAT! Only their packaging was dangerious. We used to get the sets for about $80ea, they rarely had problems, I remember only one DOA. The prices kept hiking on these until now we have this 3rd gen setup. Recently we ordered an installed 10 of them at $150ea!! Because of shortages, 3 of them came from NewEgg, another 2 from TD and 5 from F-ys. FOUR of them from different batches were DOA!! Of the remaining 6, one went TU within a week. All of them had trouble syncing and took over 2 hours to get a useable charge on the mouse (not the case with previous versions). Bottom line is, they keep getting new packaging, the price has almost doubled and now I think we will be looking for another option.

Pros: The Gyration setup is normally ideal for auditorium or class use. I have installed both the Plus and Pro versions in the past. If you are looking for use in a church, find the PRO version and pay the premium for the 100 foot range.

Cons: The quality of product is completely unacceptable. The mouse will not synch with the receiver. On further examination the laser in the mouse does not work at all. How could this pass QA? Compared to the pro version this mouse is cheap plastic.

Other Thoughts: Don't expect the key presses to fire consistently. Don't even think about trying to game or media center with this.

Pros: Its Wireless.

Cons: Everything. The mice rarely work properly or consistently. The company offers pathetic support. And the software is also kinda lousy. I have bought 2 sets from them and both times I ran into problems where the Mouse just wont work. I run XP. And when it does work it only holds the signal for a few moments. I am using it from 20 Feet away through mere drywall. It runs perfect for about 30 mins then it starts to degrade terribly. Save your money, there are FAR better products.

Pros: Owned this keyboard and mouse set, and the previous version of mouse and keyboard. The keyboard rocks, as does the old mouse, but this newer style mouse is inferior. (probably because of the new RF transmitter dongle)

After a torn rotator cuff, using a mouse for long was agony. With this mouse, I can rest my entire arm on the arm of the chair, and just use my wrist. It takes some use to get the muscle memory, (remember your first mouse or trackball?) but I can manipulate the cursor as fast as with any other input device. I still have the original model mouse they sold, which only broke yesterday when I dropped it for the thousandth time...

Cons: Both styles of dongle are sensitive to interference based on where you place them. In a crowded media center this can be a problem. The old style is on a long cord, so you can find a good place. The new dongle is not, and that could be a problem for you like it was for me.

It would intermittently skip the cursor around, just like when the old style transmitter was poorly placed, so I knew what it was. I finally lost it, and threw the mouse. A week later it dawned on me that a USB extension cord would have let me reposition the new style dongle, and probably would have solved all my problems. Live and learn.

Other Thoughts: Both sets worked perfectly when used with a simple desktop setup. No interference from big screen, surround sound, sub amp, big stereo, etc.

One day using a regular mouse and I'm looking for a new gyro mouse.

Compared to surfing the website of an off-brand motherboard, Gyration's website is easy to navigate. Compared to surfing Newegg, it's less intuitive. (maybe that just reflects all the hours I spend on newegg...)

If you have problems with skipping, try moving the RF transmitter around on a USB extension cord.

If the keyboard skips letters, it's due for fresh batteries.

Watching your friends trying to operate it with full arm movements instead of wrist angle movements is great for laughs.

Pros: I do not own this combo, but I do own the mouse and have had it for a couple years. One of the reviews complains about failing hardware. I have had 2 problems with the mouse I have over 2 years, once because the motion sensor was damaged after dropping the unit.

With both of my issues, Gyration replace the faulty mouse no questions asked. Perhaps the previous reviewer should have contacted the company instead of replacing it out of pocket.

Cons: A minor annoyance - there is no way to turn off the laser. I use this on a HTPC and never use it on a surface. When I put it down, the laser is active, which is annoying when it is on a glass coffee table and is unnecesarily using the battery. This can be avoided if the sensor on the tip of the mouse is hanging over the edge of the surface, but this has led to the unit falling, which caused one of the issues I had, which was promptly replaced by Gyration
