2 out of 5 eggsDecent while it lasted

Pros: - Trackball and keyboard all in one.
- Trackball is actually nice to use once you get used to it. (And it's actually working.)
- Nice design.
- Comfortable to use on lap.
- Convenient button placement.
- Easily usable with one hand or two.

Cons: - Rechargeable batteries don't work well.
- Keys are not always responsive. (Have to use unnecessary amount of force.)
- Trackball performance has degraded over time.
- Not incredibly durable.

Other Thoughts: This keyboard/trackball combo got the job done while it worked. I have used mine pretty consistently for about 10 months now, it started out working as nicely as any average wireless keyboard. Although I did have problems with the rechargeable batteries and recharging the keyboard. It didn't seem to hold a charge, or it didn't want to charge at all sometimes. After the first week I ditched the rechargeable batteries for regular batteries and they lasted a few months. Key performance has degraded over time, it now seems I have to punch the keyboard sometimes for it to recognize. Same goes for the trackball. At first once I was used to the trackball it was nice to use. Now it only seems to recognize input when it feels like it, so it's frustrating trying to get it move around.

Overall, not bad while it was working. It did what I wanted it to. For the price I suppose I can't complain too much. I would like better durability first of all, I'm already going to have to replace it after less than 1 year of use. Also the keys seem a little cheap, as in they require an unfavorable amount of force to register an input. The rechargeable batteries and trying to charge is not worth the hassle.

Manufacturer Response:

5 out of 5 eggsI've had no issues with this board

Pros: Frankly, I love it and have had it for several years now. I use mine constantly in my den with the PC - it IS the only way I watch movies/TV/Netflix, etc. and I use it to listen to music in the same room, so it gets very heavy use. In general I like the placement of the keys, buttons & no issue with the scroll wheel (though I also use the page up/down feature a lot, too). I can carry this keyboard with me into another room and mute/stop.

Cons: I have had a few issues with recharging (acted like it wasn't recharging, but it did. A few other times it wanted to be recharged days after I had just charged it) however, it worked a decent amount of time on regular batteries and after getting new rechargeable batteries, less issues. It's easy to move keyboard and its line of sight signal when it's in your lap. Trying to use this in a rocking recliner can have drawbacks. I thought the track ball felt kinda cheesy, but once I got used to it, no problems.

Other Thoughts: My keyboard gets heavy use and I've been VERY happy with mine. I have dropped it a couple of times (fell on wood floor or rug) and handled it. All the cats repeatedly walk across it, the dog has drooled on it, one cat loves to sit on it (because it's more fun when I'm trying to use it). I am a female with no kids and no one (human) has unduly abused this or used it roughly while playing a game. This item is a bit harder to deal with, but all my remotes, etc are shrink wrapped in colored plastic - so this board has been wrapped about 50% of the time (you have to make an opening for the track ball). However, a catastrophic coke spill was diverted, which could have meant the loss of the board or a seriously sticky issue if hadn't been wrapped. (I use the colored plastic wrap like cling wrap - it is usually available year round but is very easy to find around the holidays and keeps everything clean, neat, and color coded for those with multiple systems. Yes, you have to replace when you change the batteries).

5 out of 5 eggsvery nice!

Pros: i'm on my 4th such keyboard, others kept getting trackball problems eventually, cleaning helped but they all died anyway, very frustrating.

it's a relief to get this one, mouse is working swell! Let's hope it lasts. Plus 3 year warranty, can't go wrong.

Very fast delivery, i recommend newegg and this keyboard.

Cons: none so far

Other Thoughts: close button is very practical, had to write autohotkey script to get the others to do same.

4 out of 5 eggsMost brilliant design

Pros: This is THE keyboard if you wish for a full sized on your lap type keyboard... the shape... and layout are comprehensive and don't make you think...using the board feels right. A lot of brilliant user oriented thought went into this design...from the convenient triggers -- to the shape to the integrated battery recharger WITH easily swappable AA rechagable batteries. This board obviously designed by a forward thinker or culmination of great ideas into one well done unit.

Cons: I only wish it were a bit sturdier. dropped twice and keys popped off... lost a few keys. One egg off only for this.

3 out of 5 eggsIt worked great (mostly)... until it didn't

Pros: Pros: The case feels great in your hands/on your lap! The materials are rather rubbery where they need to be, so it doesn't slip in your hands. The keyboard is a good size so finding your keys isn't too bad. It has amazing range (40+ feet and 2 walls in my house).

Cons: Charging, charging, charging!! I often have to mess around with the batteries for them to take a charge. The first unit didn't charge at all (newegg RMA's rock!!). The forward facing scroll wheel has a very thin piece of plastic that connects it to the sensor, so if you click on it (which it supports), you might break it (as mine did today). The nubs that tell your fingers in the dark where the home row is are also rather small, so getting your fingers on the right keys to type can be tricky in the dark.

Other Thoughts: I purchased this for use with a media center (so it doesn't get a ton of use). Since the scroll wheel broke today, mine is pretty much useless for that purpose.

I did like it a lot, I had to ding it at least one star for the charging issues. I had to drop another after seeing how poorly they designed the forward facing scroll wheel and left click buttons.

Manufacturer Response:

Thank you for choosing IOGEAR and we apologize for your experience. Please email us with a phone number to contact you at support@iogear.com. We will be more than happy to contact you with quality service and process an RMA. Once again, thank you for choosing IOGEAR.

3 out of 5 eggsit's decent when it works

Pros: I really like the feel of the keyboard, the scroll wheel and trackball is great and the battery indicator is useful.

Cons: The trackball requires cleaning every once in while if too much oil builds up and the keyboard stops recognizing it. Sometimes the keyboard will be unresponsive and the only way to fix it is to take the batteries for 5 minutes or so.

My scroll wheel broke after 6 months of light use.

My last wireless keyboard lasted me 3 years, I expect the same for this one but no.

2 out of 5 eggsDisappointing

Pros: Great idea, especially for people wanting to "cut the cord" and go all online for television viewing. When it works, it is fantastic and I love it! Keyboard, mouse, scroll wheel, all are great for surfing Hulu and Netflix. Installs easily, very responsive.

Cons: The first keyboard we got had no battery terminals. We returned it immediately, got a new one and were happy for 7 months. Then things started going down hill. A key fell off. No biggie, but the mount was broken. Okay, Iogear was going to replace it. Then, the scroll wheel stopped working and the trackball stopped responding well. We are sending it in for RMA again. So, with all the shipping, we have paid almost double the original price. If I have trouble again, I'll not bother with an RMA and will just buy another brand.

Other Thoughts: Love using the keyboard to watch TV, but it really disappointed me with the durability.

2 out of 5 eggsBroke for no reason, within a month

Pros: Easy Set-up, great idea

Cons: Stopped working within a few weeks, just refused to connect to the computer for no reason at all.

Won't be buying an iogear keyboard ever again, neither will my company, as I'm responsible for all IT purchases.

1 out of 5 eggsnot good

Pros: it looks cool.

Cons: Blu-tooth intermittent signal after only 5 feet distance from receiver. acts like inferred not blu-tooth anything gets in the way, no signal.

Other Thoughts: I investigated the possibility of packet collisions by eliminating any sources in 2.4 GHz, the signal remained intermittent.

5 out of 5 eggsSo Far, so good..

Pros: Great control of HTPC. Range seems good for typical living room. Have not had any issues with mine... yet. We recharge every weekend - no power issues. It's been dropped a few times and sat on - still seems to work just fine.

Cons: It does time out (goes to sleep) a little sooner that I would like.
