5 out of 5 eggsFeels good

Pros: Solid, weighty and no flex. Keys all seem to be where they are supposed to be. Full size keyboard, but slim and not any bigger than it needs to be. Two USB ports work and can supply power to a "big" load like hard drive (at least with my motherboard, YMMV)

Cons: USB cable is just barely long enough for my standing desk environment (worked for me).

Other Thoughts: Was a fan of classic IBM keyboards, and I'm also very happy with "feel" and layout of this keyboard.

Replacing an annoying light-up keyboard that kept having compatibility problems with Linux. Now I can just plug in a $2 USB gooseneck LED light pointed at the keys.

5 out of 5 eggsThis is the best keyboard in the WORLD!!!11!1(one)

Pros: slim. comfortable. reasonably quiet. USB hub. Media Keys. Metal casing. HARD STEEL KEY REFRAIN PANEL!!!

Cons: Has alcoholism (Will drink your unattended Jegermeister if given the opportunity).

Other Thoughts: This was the best keyboard I have ever owned. I have had MANY grand days of typing out my many illicit URLs and keying in 4chan flame comments with this grand master of keyboards...

One day, after a rather fitful respnce to a newf** on /b and in a rage enduced fit of wanted style retrobution on a friend, I successfully recreated the "Wanted" Scene where the protagonist managed to spell out the phrase "F**K YOU" with the broken keys of his smashed keyboard and a tooth. the only difference was the fact this SIIG keyboard defiantly did NOT surrender its keys to flight. Nay, it angrily growled as I slammed it back on my desk and continued rage-fully fisting its manly keys to the tacking roll of hate-mail.

Truely this was the best of my input devices untill that fateful day... I had pored myself a feisty tumbler of Jagermeister and prepared to hammer away at another bile filled retort to human inanity when my bowels demanded my undivided attention... upon returning to my desk, the keyboard had inexplicably DRANK MY JAGER!!!

It was then that I learned of the SIIG keyboards greatest weekness... hard alcohol.

So I did what any good troll would do in my position, reenacted my favorite "Wanted" Scene again on the OTHER side of my friends face and sent the keyboard to a reputable addiction clinic. Last I heard it had escaped the clinic and is now living in a dump with a herd of hobos... tragic...

So in closing, really great keyboard, just remember the rules; keep it out of the light, don't feed it after midnight, and don't get it wet.

I WILL be getting a replacement or 10 of these bad boys!

5 out of 5 eggsPerfect Programming and Gaming Keyboard

Pros: * Scissor-switch keys, which provide the most comfortable typing experience.
* Perfect keyboard layout: standard-size backspace and backslash keys, and no silly L-shaped enter key!
* Seems pretty durable to me: I've been using it for several months heavily, including toting it to LAN parties.
* Built-in USB 2.0 hub with ports on each side for easy connection of a mouse or whatever else you want.
* Black brushed aluminum top looks stylish and professional.
* Detected by my BIOS, no problem.

Cons: * I'd rather have play/pause than sleep in the top right.
* It probably doesn't have any special anti-ghosting technology, but it works fine for gaming with WASD and DCAS key layouts.

Other Thoughts: The actual manufacturer of this keyboard is Precision Squared (pstc.com.tw) and they make fantastic scissor-switch keyboards. If you want a Mac-layout keyboard, check out the MacAlly IceKey -- it's basically the same keyboard, but with a plastic body.

3 out of 5 eggsUpdate to previous review

Pros: I was able to re-attach two keys, X and left-Alt, to the keyboard. Both keys attach a little differently, but neither is the expected x-post which simply snaps on. The X re-attached by pressing it down hard. The left-Alt had an addition metal piece -- why, I have no idea -- which gets in the way when re-attaching, and I had to press even harder on it. The left-Alt key works now, but it isn't as stable as it was before. Good thing it isn't used too much. The X-key seems to be fine.

Cons: Do not remove these keys for any reason! If you spill crumbs on the keyboard, blow them out with compressed air. If you spill a drink other than water on it, you will probably end up throwing it away.

Why didn't SIIG use the standard key attachment of an x-post?

Other Thoughts: One thing I forgot to mention before is that the keys are flatter -- less curved -- than some other keyboards, e.g. the older Dell model. I like this, but maybe someone else wouldn't.

2 out of 5 eggsNice, until a key comes off

Pros: Nice aluminum look, good key feel (only need to depress a little), and blue LED lights. Appears to be well-built (but see below).

Cons: When you remove a key, whether though an accident or to clean up some crumbs underneath, your keyboard is toast because you will never get the key back on. I assumed it would simply snap back on. Oh no, it has some kind of Rube Goldberg device to keep the key down. I imagine SIIG's Chinese factory has some sort of jig to lock the mechanisn down. I am usually fairly adept at mechanical things, but this keyboard will be recycled.

Other Thoughts: One thing I never liked about this keyboard is that the keys are about half as tall as a on a regular keyboard, fine for most keys, but the ones nearest the typist, especially the left Cntl, are hardly taller than the base; it's easy to miss the key and hit the base.

3 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Solid and heavy. Doesn't move around when typing. Nice quality (other than USB cord).

Cons: Light-weight cable with no strain relief-likely to be the first point of failure. Too low and compact for my keyboard tray w/wrist-rest. No tactile feedback.

Other Thoughts: I was on the last of several old IBM clicky keyboards and really needed to move to a USB unit. Sad to say, I find this far inferior and very difficult to adapt to, although it's far superior to other keyboards I'm forced to use at work as a contract programmer. I think I'll keep this as a backup and get a new IBM-style keyboard from the folks who bought the tooling. Unfortunately, Newegg doesn't sell them and they're less expensive than clicky keyboards sold here which I can't try. I'd prefer to buy here, as Newegg's return policy and performance is unequaled, but the right keyboard is just too important.

5 out of 5 eggsMy favorite keyboard yet!

Pros: High quality construction, very quiet, very responsive

Cons: A sleep button next to the mute button that leads to some very unfortunate accidents during gameplay.

Other Thoughts: After going through 2 different Logitech G-Series keyboards, and one Razor Lycosa. Switching to this keyboard was a major change, but a change for the better. The best way to describe this keyboard is like a laptop. Rather than tall, springy keys, it has very short keys exactly like most laptops do. And rather than a deep clicking noise, it makes a very light tapping noise when you type. It makes for a much more pleasurable typing experience. There is a different type of plastic used which seems like it doesn't cause fingers to sweat nearly as much, and the horizontally grained aluminum doesn't show any fingerprints or smudges. It is much cheaper than those aforementioned keyboards, much less plasticy, it feels more substantial, and there is a noticeable WPM increase from having very flat keys as opposed to very defined keys.

It's definitely not for everyone though, my brother hates these gel-like keys and much prefers the deep, mechanical ones.

5 out of 5 eggsHigh Quality Minimalist Keyboard

Pros: This keyboard impresses straight out of the box. Its build quality is excellent. The keyboard is heavy and stays put on the desk and the keys have a fast, shallow actuation that is firm and quiet. This is an incredibly fast-typing keyboard!

The aluminum top face gives the keyboard a very classy and high-quality feel. The controller in the keyboard is no-nonsense. The four hot keys (Vol +, Vol -, Mute, Sleep) are not programmable as the keyboard also doesn't come with any proprietary drivers.

The fact that this keyboard comes with a five year manufacturer's warranty says it all! II highly recommend this keyboard to people who are tired of dealing with faulty drivers and controllers from those overloaded gaming products (I will not mention names here) that plague the industry and just want a keyboard that focuses on quality and integrity rather than blinky lights.

Cons: The aluminum face has a somewhat sharp corner around the outside and the keyboard has no feet to change the typing angle. However, both of these points don't really detract from the overall experience with the product.
