4 out of 5 eggsBest Mechanical Keyboard Under $40

Pros: Okay, the title is a bit of a joke, but if you're shopping for a new mechanical keyboard on a $40 budget you don't have any other options. That said, this is not a bad keyboard by any stretch. It's solid, nice looking, delightfully clicky, and usable - everything that a cheap mechanical keyboard should be. Coming from a Das Keyboard, this can almost replace it at 1/3 the price.

Cons: 6-key rollover. No macro keys. "Backspace" is the same size asletter and number keys. Build quality isn't perfect - Space button is not flush with left Alt.

Other Thoughts: This would be a great first mechanical keyboard. You get to feel the main benefits of mechanical keyboards (minus n-key rollover) at an incredible price. This is a passable mechanical keyboard at an amazing price.

4 out of 5 eggsStriker RK-6000

Pros: Very cheap
Comes with rubber orange keys for gaming
Switches are clicky and tactile, a rare trait

Cons: Key presses are not consistent, though I haven't found that to be a problem
Difficult to remove big keys like backspace.shift, space, and others

If you game a lot and constantly rest your and use they keys the lettering begins to fade. I've only been using the keyboard for about 4-5 months yet.my alt,Q,and E keys are beginning to have their lettering vanish. The WASD keys are safe since they come with orange rubberized caps. Though several games require more than just those keys, I would gladly buy replacement caps but the switches used are rare and no one offers replacement caps.

Other Thoughts: Would like to have some replacement caps or alternative rubberized ones for covering more than just WASD. Aside from that issue I'm completely content with it, and unless you use it heavily for gaming I guess the caps should last more than a year.

3 out of 5 eggsWorked well for a while, but eventually a switch started malfunctioning

Pros: Cheap, feels great. Extremely close in feel to the nicer $100+ mechanical keyboards I've tried.
Plus is comes with rubberized WASD and UDLR keys that i really like. It makes it easier to find my position on the keyboard using the rubberized keys, all without looking down.

Cons: After about 4 months, my T key only works about 50% of the time. There's nothing stuck in it, I've never spilled anything on it, it just stopped working. Sometimes it works fine, sometimes i have to slam it to get a response. Its a pain. Every other key works extremely well, and this is probably an anomaly.

Other Thoughts: I'm going to RMA the keyboard, but its a shame that i have to. Cheap keyboard, but when you add the cost of shipping to rosewill and the time ill have to use my membrane backup keyboard, I'd rather just spend more on one of the QuickFire keyboards or something.

1 out of 5 eggsStriker RK-6000 review

Pros: I will never buy a Non Mechanical keyboard again. I love the feel and tactile feedback.

Cons: Number lock light went out after only two months. I gave Rosewill a chance but never again. I have keyboards that are years old and all the lights still work, this is unacceptable. Rosewill wants me to send it back for an RMA but why should I have to pay shipping for a defective product? When I called Rosewill support, they said there was nothing they could do except for me to pay to ship them the defective keyboard. They couldnt even send me a shipping label or just send a replacement? Its just a keybaord, its not worth the shipping to send it back.

Other Thoughts: Wish it would have worked out Rosewill but you have lost a customer.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Budget mechanical keyboard, better than membrane keyboards, programmable keys

Cons: Weird layout, not as tactile as cherry switches, rubber switches felt awkward

Other Thoughts: Just stuck to using the default keys and not the orange WASD/arrow keys because they didn't feel right. Great mechanical keyboard for those who are on a budget and/or don't mind the differences between cherry and ALPS switches

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Nice feel to the keys. Very responsive and satisfying. Inexpensive mechanical keyboard.

Cons: Very loud, but I knew that going in. Backspace key is very small, which throws me off some when I'm typing very fast. I'm sure I will get used to it soon enough though. Still a great mechanical keyboard for the price

2 out of 5 eggsInconsistent performance

Pros: I'm very glad to see ALPS switches in a new mechanical keyboard but this one is fairly disappointing (see Cons).
Programmable keys are programmable--this is unheard of at this price.
The rubber gaming keycaps are easy to install and are great gaming (see Cons).
Any time I get the opportunity to grab an ALPS-style mechanical keyboard I don't hesitate to buy one (see Cons).

Cons: The keys are inconsistent in both feel and sound. ALPS keyswitches have a mechanism that causes the audible and tactile "click" but on this keyboard it misses about 1/3 of the time. This means that one third of the time the keys don't click. This results in an error-prone typing experience.
This keyboard would have been just fine without the clicking mechanism. It would have masked the inconsistent performance.
The rubber gaming keycaps are intended only for gaming. Touch-typing with them installed is not recommended.

Other Thoughts: Any time I get the opportunity to grab an ALPS-style mechanical keyboard I don't hesitate to buy one. ALPS exited the keyboard business long ago and their switches have been cloned by a great many different manufacturers.
This keyboard is not related to the ABS keyboard sold by Newegg a few years ago. That keyboard was built with far better quality ALPS switches than this Striker keyboard has.
A good example of a modern ALPS keyboard is the DSI International ASK-6600 which is also sold as the SolidTek ASK-6600. An even better and far more expensive example are the Matias keyboards--they use the very finest ALPS switches designed and built exclusively by Matias.

4 out of 5 eggsGood entry level mechanical keyboard

Pros: Cheap. Even though it's ALPS key switches, it's tactile enough that you'll get the satisfying response from your fingertips. Also, it's not tenkeyless. Hallelujah. Key response is also decent enough that you won't have problem with typing.

Cons: first of all, back space key is WAAAAAY too small. It's simple convenience people. how hard is to make it a little bit bigger? After all, it's one of the most used keys in the keyboard. Come on. Also, the keyboard is way too light. during long typing sessions, it keep slides. Use quality rubber Plz.

Finally, throw away the "rubberized gaming key caps" that comes with the keyboard. It's absolutely feels horrendous. Especially when you are typing. Just the color change would've been better for cryin' out loud.

Other Thoughts: Compared to Cherry MX series, yeah, ALPS is definitely a lower-grade key switches. However, if you never owned a mechanical keyboard, it's a very descent entry level keyboard. BTW, it's blue ALPS switches, but it's not even close to Cherry MX Blue. If you have more money to spend, go for Cherry MX Blue or Cherry MX Brown keyboards.

5 out of 5 eggsThe Invincible Keyboard

Pros: -Cheap and effective
-Water resistant
-Nice software and UI for programmable keys

Cons: -Loud but that is expected of any mechanical keyboard

Other Thoughts: I managed to spill a full cup of water on this keyboard... twice. Both times I got a sufficient amount of water under the keys and it didn't affect the performance whatsoever.

4 out of 5 eggsGood, but not great.

Pros: -Nice and clicky, resistance comparable to MX Blues (These are not cherry switches)
-Software is cool (I don't use it however)
-Much more fun to type on than a regular keyboard
-Free rubber WASD and Arrow keys, with a key removing tool
-Cheapest mechanical on the market

Cons: -Keycaps wiggle a great deal
-Compact design leads itself to strange keyboard layout
-Letter etchings started coming off after only a week of use.
-Included rubber keys are a different size than the other keycaps
-Some Inconsistent keys

Other Thoughts: I fear for my R and L keys, which require a little more push to get a register and occasionally register twice with only one push.
