1 out of 5 eggsFailed After a Year

This review is from: Rosewill RK-9000V2 - Mechanical Keyboard with Cherry MX Blue Switches

Pros: It was a nice keyboard when it was working.

Cons: I bought the RK9000 keyboard two years ago when a many reviewers were saying that issues with the usb connector had been fixed. I took a gamble and purchased the keyboard based on the good reviews and it broke a little after a year of light use. I would recommend going with a different brand because you're rolling the dice on quality and it appears based on another review that there are still issues.

2 out of 5 eggsGreat For Limited Time....

This review is from: Rosewill RK-9000V2 - Mechanical Keyboard with Cherry MX Blue Switches

Pros: This keyboard "was" amazing. As my first Mechanical keyboard and after doing a lot of research, I was very happy with what I had purchased.

The keyboard has a solid build. The keys have a great feel to them. I am able to use it for extended periods with minimal fatigue ect.

Cons: This keyboard, while great, randomly died on me. I am 35 days into owning this thing and it has just stopped working. I woke up one day and the lights were off on it. Replugged into my computer multiple times, Replugged into the keyboard multiple times and I get the same response: Everything lights up (normal) then everything stops. I then proceed to get a "USB device malfunction" message from windows. I've tested on multiple computers, multiple attempts, restarted computer.

Very disappointed as I had high expectations from the great reviews it has received along with the great feel and experience I had with it for the first month.

Other Thoughts: Overall, great keyboard. As I'm the only one on the internet to have this problem (I've been googling this for a long time now), Its a good bet that this WILL NOT happen to you. That being said, this is a great keyboard that comes in several different key types. It does not come with many extras, but that is also why I purchased it. I didn't need it to make coffee for me, I just needed a reliable, effective input device for my uses which it achieved.... for a month.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome little no frills mechanical keyboard

This review is from: Rosewill RK-9000V2 - Mechanical Keyboard with Cherry MX Blue Switches

Pros: Its got switches! and a swapable PS/2 cable. Awesome solid build with no flex and plenty of weight.

Cons: Zero additional keys to bind to for gaming. No wrist rest.

Other Thoughts: In a price range where other keyboards are messing with chinese switches, rosewill offers up a no frills %100 cherry switch keyboard.

This review is from: Rosewill RK-9000V2 - Mechanical Keyboard with Cherry MX Blue Switches

Pros: Amazing keyboard, nice tactile feel, removable sturdy cable, and windows lock key.

Cons: Keys you can tell aren't the most high quality keys. but the pros greatly outweigh this problem!

Other Thoughts: Was looking for a budget good gaming keyboard, got exactly that! Couldn't be any happier with it.

5 out of 5 eggsJust Came Today

This review is from: Rosewill RK-9000V2 - Mechanical Keyboard with Cherry MX Blue Switches

Pros: This keyboard is everything that i was looking for at a price i couldn't pass up. PS/2 connector, Tenkey, Cherry Blue's, and a price of $79 thanks to a sale. Comes with separate USB and PS2 cables to suit your fancy, and they're braided which gives a very high quality feel. Letters on the keyboard are large and easy to see if that's something you're looking for. Keys feel very nice to press and give convincing feedback to let you know your press has gone through. Even though it includes the number pad it retains a very small package. At under 18 inches it's going to fit anywhere you need it to. So far, i can honestly say; if i liked this keyboard any more, it would be beer.

Cons: Cables plug into the keyboard at an angle that points left. If your PC resides on the right side of your desk, this may become an issue. It was the perfect length for me so i won't dock an egg for it, but some may have an issue. The blue LED's are blindly bright and would certainly cause permanent blindness if looked at the wrong way. To be honest, this is almost worth docking an egg over, because i'll probably end up having to put tape over the lights, its that bad. LED's have a tendency to dull over time so maybe it won't be an issue in a few months. We'll see.

Other Thoughts: Overall, i'm quite pleased on day 1. All it comes down to now is how long it lasts. I'm an avid gamer that plays RTS and FPS every day. Hopefully i get a few years out of it at the very least. Hoping for the best!

5 out of 5 eggsRK-9000V2 Rosewill

This review is from: Rosewill RK-9000V2 - Mechanical Keyboard with Cherry MX Blue Switches

Pros: I haven’t used mechanical keyboard since my first computer back in 90’s. I am glad to buy this one with blue switches. This keyboard is amazing. Every one of the key feels right and I feel like I am a true typist again. I spend most of my day typing actually, so having a good quality keyboard like this one is wonderful. My typing is faster with fewer mistakes. Most importantly, my shoulders are less sore after all.

Cons: N/A

2 out of 5 eggsGood board, bad cable

This review is from: Rosewill RK-9000V2 - Mechanical Keyboard with Cherry MX Blue Switches

Pros: It's been a good consistent keyboard. Switches are nice and responsive, no complaints with the operation of the keys/board.

Cons: The removable cable makes very little sense to me. It has gotten bumped and unplugged, confusing when you try and type and it doesn't work. Worse yet the USB jack has failed inside the board, so if you jiggle it, it stops working. This is extremely frustrating and actually happened quite early in the life of the board. It was at home on a desk, and stayed fairly stable, so it wasn't a huge problem. But I moved it to my office that has height adjustable desks and it gets bumped often and stops working.

Other Thoughts: Not a bad keyboard. And once upon a time a great deal. Today, I'd recommend the Logitech G710, since they updated it and added a model with the cherry blue switches if you love that clicky feel.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat!

This review is from: Rosewill RK-9000V2 - Mechanical Keyboard with Cherry MX Blue Switches

Pros: Excellent keyboard. I previously owned the prior 9000 version but accidentally broke it, so shopping around I came across this updated keyboard and have been very pleased with it. The build is extremely sturdy and the keys are excellent.

Cons: None!

Other Thoughts: Make sure you're careful when taking out the keycaps for whatever reason. Not terribly easy to break the things that hold them, but if you're negligent it can happen.

5 out of 5 eggsEarly feedback

This review is from: Rosewill RK-9000V2 - Mechanical Keyboard with Cherry MX Blue Switches

Pros: I bought two of these as exploratory testing for a pharmacy call center (and for my own curiosity) and gave them to two girls who had a tendency to hit the keys fairly hard when typing. Most keyboards last around 6-12 months (a lot of OEM Dell workstation and Logitech MK120 keyboards) here from the frequency and force used and I am hoping these will 1. last longer and 2. increase typing speed and 3. allow better accuracy for these girls in the call center. So far, 2 and 3 have been accomplished according to the two test girls and I just need to wait on 1. If I can show the owner that these girls are typing much quicker, faster, and even easier on their hands, then I can probably order a bulk quantity of these boards.

As for the specific keyboard itself, this newer version of Rosewill's keyboard is extremely tough: the metal baseplate provides strength and heft when holding and typing (super solid). The noise and tactile feel are perfect to retrain the test subjects not to mash down all the way to the end on each keystroke. In an office setting where there are a lot of people on the phone, the noise is nothing compared to how hard they used to type on the dome keyboards. In a quieter setting like maybe at a house, I could understand the Cherry MX Blues could be a bit loud, but it's really not much if in an isolated room.

High quality braided cables provided with good length and a velcro strap for any extra length.

Cons: I am a little worried about the cable falling out and getting calls that the keyboard is broken even though it is just a simple unplugged cable (people use your brain before you call your IT guy!). Would be nice to have some type of fastening system for the cable like other keyboards with removable wires. HOWEVER, the cable feels solid, unlike the previous version from what I've heard. I am not worried much about the connector actually breaking. As mentioned earlier, the two cables provided are also VERY high quality braided cables.

Even at the sale price of $90 each, it will be hard to justify to our client that it is worth the $90, let alone if/when the Blues go up to retail of $130. If we were to get them for $60 each, this would be almost a no-brainer. Been searching, but so far only low-quality mechanical keyboards.

Other Thoughts: It is a bit early for great feedback, but so far everyone is impressed. My coworker took a look at it, typed a couple keys, laughed and said, "it looks like a keyboard from 1998!" That's the point! Go back to what works best for typing with newer tech underneath!

Happy with this new version of the Rosewill RK-9000V2. Hopefully I can convince my wife I can get the brown switch version!
