is this keyboard  windows 7 compatible?

I've never had much patience for the software, I just plug it in and If I want to reassign keys, I just reassign them from within the game software. That has worked flawlessly for me for the past 7 or 8 years. I have two of these and ran them with Vista, 7, and now 8.1 with zero issues.

do it works on windows 8 and is it still worth it to buy?

Works on 8.1 and for me I love this keyboard and would buy another. This is my second one and because I wore out a couple of key playing battlefield. I'm pretty hard on it.  Hope this helps!

Do they make extension cables to accommodate this keyboard?

This depends entirely on how far the extension cable needs to go.

As it draws 500mAh of power and has a full USB hub built into the keyboard, it puts it solidly into the USB 2.0 specification.  USB 2.0 has a maximum total cable length requirement of 5 meters (16.7 feet).  When calculating total distance you need to take into account the cable length of the keyboard itself, which is about 5ft (less than 2 meters, but not by much), so a 5 meter extension cable will likely not work.

I routinely hook my Merc Stealth up to my media PC in my living room using a 3 meter extension cable and a mouse plugged into the keyboard itself, and it works fine.  However, if you need greater distance, you'd have to daisy-chain it with a wall powered USB hub after the first 5 meters.  Also, keep in mind that USB 2.0 only supports up to 4 downstream "hops" through hubs.  This can be a problem as a lot of motherboards have an internal "hub" in the USB chipset, which uses one hop.  Another hop is used by the USB hub built into the keyboard, so you can only get a maximum of 2 extension hops, and due to power requirements, both of those hops would need to be wall powered USB hubs.

What is the difference between model # 64049, and # KUH0702?

I'm not sure what the difference is, nor what model mine is (lol). The one I purchased has worked great though. The numbers on the 11 degree tilt pad take a while to get used to, but after a few weeks, it is the best keyboard I've used.
