2 out of 5 eggsPoorly designed, not a practical macro keyboard

Pros: Looks nice, grips surface well, software is nice. Mouse events can be added to macro's.

Cons: Realistically, this keyboard is not back-lit, even on the highest setting. I think what they meant by back-lit is their stupid ROCCAT symbol on the top left.

Macro recording is awful, about %70 of key presses are missed. This forces you to use the software & make macro's manually using an editor.

The keys at the very top are basically unusable, I'd say theres about a %90 miss rate unless you grind down on the key.

Adjusting anything on the keyboard is extremely slow and sporadic. By this I mean macro recording using the record key, adjusting backlight levels (LCD is very slow, incrementing the backlight for example may do nothing, or increment 3 times), etc.

The need for 2 USB cables just screams poor engineering. In the manual it says the second one is for power. USB ports can supply half an amp to a device, since the backlights are basically non-existent, where is all this current going? Nothing in this keyboard should draw anywhere near half an amp.

Other Thoughts: I dont like how the keys feel when they are pressed, not a very distinctive ON/Off tactile feedback. I do like the height of the keys, about 1/2 the height of a standard keyboard.

If you use macro's, I would avoid this product.

5 out of 5 eggsLove it

Pros: Used alot of keyboards for gaming and general pc use... This one has always amazed me. A macro for everything and more..... Drivers were good plug and play. side usb always comes in handy.... Being able to plug in headphone is always a perk.. Over all having this board for couple years its been a 5/5 everyday.

Cons: newer drivers

Other Thoughts: Had to order it from UK.... until this year when they finally got US based stores!!!

3 out of 5 eggsLots of Macro keys

Pros: 41 macro keys, 5 profiles and 4 "levels" per profile. Has on the fly recording of macro, and recoding state shows on the display. So macros can be set and changed while playing.

Keyboard has a smooth feel and while not mechanical, still has good response.

The Macro Editor, was easy to use, and was not requred just to run the keyboard. the keyboard is usable on any machine with out drivers, but just limited to a single profile, that still is 164 macros.

Cons: Light up keys are barely visible, even on highest setting. (so poor I an knocking 2 eggs off)

The replacement keys were sit slightly lower than the standard black Macro keys, but the the tool work sell in swapping them. No egg deduction for that, since even having replacement keys was a nice touch.

Function keys are above macro keys, wish they were in standard location, with macro keys above them. Just a preference.

The keyboard standups, do not make much pf an incline, may something to raise the back up to get a typical incline

Requires 2 USB ports, not bad for when your plugging it in back of machine, but took up all my ports on front of machine when testing it, and reduces its "portability" to other machines.

Other Thoughts: I did not have any of the dropped keys, that other were reporting on earlier models.

While you can not change the profile while in a game, you can change levels, while allows each key to have 4 settings. leaving 164 different macros available while in game. Should be enough for anyone.

Does not have any scripting language like LUA on the Logitech G-keyboard, but the timing can set timings per keystroke and overlay keys.

Interestingly enough both the G510 and this board work on same computer at same time with out interference on each other. So have access to both keyboards at same time, each running its own macros.

Its not as wide as my G510 and just a little taller. The placement of the screen to the side worked better for my set up.

I would recommend the Valo over the G510 ONLY if you do not do any advanced scripting. While the Valo will not go on my game machine like originally purchased for, the G510 was better for that. It was a great addition to my work
