4 out of 5 eggsGood product

This review is from: ROCCAT Isku FX USB Multicolor Gaming Keyboard

Pros: Back-lit keys, change color with the push of a button. Haven't used the macro keys personally so I can't really comment on those

Cons: Could use brighter lighting, can be hard to see when looking at the keyboard after staring at the screen, but generally not a big issue.

Other Thoughts: Great keyboard for the price. Sure, not a great as some other gaming keyboards, but it well exceeds my needs.

5 out of 5 eggsGood Keyboard

This review is from: ROCCAT Isku FX USB Multicolor Gaming Keyboard

Pros: All the keys are the right sizes.. Backspace, enter, both shifts etc.

The settings for personalizing the colors are easy to use, they work well.

Lighting is very visible, I had to turn the intensity down slightly, was a bit too bright for me.

Wrist rest is permanently attached but it's comfortable and a good size.

The thumb buttons under the space bar are recessed enough that I don't touch them on accident.

Not mechanical, low profile enough that it's comfortable to type on. The typing isn't whisper quiet, but again, it's not mechanical at least.

Cons: The software is INCREDIBLY slow to load/make changes.

Sometimes I have to make the macro changes multiple times in the software before it sticks.

At first I would hit M1 ALL the time when I was reaching for the Esc button, I got used to it, but at first try to avoid making a macro on that key to avoid any early issues.

The voice that tells you when you switch profiles with the thumb buttons is beyond annoying, it's volume is too loud.

Other Thoughts: I don't do a ton of typing these days, but fun to see I've had almost 7 million keystrokes since I bought it ;)

1 out of 5 eggsWaste of money

This review is from: ROCCAT Isku FX USB Multicolor Gaming Keyboard

Pros: Fells good

Cons: The illuminated keys while sitting down get chopped off meaning only half the key is visablly lit!!! Contacted support and Roccat says its due to the construction of the keys! Why release the keyboard with a design flaw! Returning for different board. My illuminated keyboard on my alienware 18 does not have this problem.

5 out of 5 eggs

This review is from: ROCCAT Isku FX USB Multicolor Gaming Keyboard

Pros: Comfortable
Lots of wrist space
When I type, it feels smooth
Lots of customization options
Thumb macro buttons are awesome

Cons: Software wasn't the easiest to figure out

Other Thoughts: I'm literally taking time out to write this review after having an older version of this keyboard. I can't begin to tell you how much I've fallen in love with this thing. It's the most comfortable keyboard I've ever owned. I've owned both Razor and Logitech top of the line keyboards, tan this thing blows them out of the water.

4 out of 5 eggsDecent keyboard, but not best at this price

This review is from: ROCCAT Isku FX USB Multicolor Gaming Keyboard

Pros: Solid backlighting, can toggle on the fly between keyboard modes, decent tactile feel for membrane keyboard, 5 bindable macro keys to the left of keyboard, good driver software.

Cons: Some key combinations don't work (Specifically when holding shift during a game and trying to hit other buttons), media keys in awkward location and not backlit, backlighting only applies to keys (lights on keyboard are permanent bright blue), weird achievement system

Other Thoughts: They keyboard looks nice coming out of the box, is well packaged, and comes with marvelous software for configuration and key-lockouts if you need them. However, 100 dollars is a bit much for a membrane keyboard, and some of the feature of the software are just plain weird. You'll get a creepy voice that says uncharacteristically loud "YOU'VE UNLOCKED AN ACHIEVEMENT" in the midst of whatever you're doing, which is unsettling at least. I personally found that the media keys were in an inconvenient place at the top of the keyboard, and often didn't interact with my music program if I was doing something else. The shiny black area around the keys quickly gets smudged with use, and cleaning it can be a pain due to the spacing between the keys and the surface around them. Some of the colors that can be selected from the backlighting choices are barely visible (Green, yellow especially) and the lights on the keyboard for changing modes, as well as the lights indicated which "lock" keys are on are a permanent bright blue. If you're going to spend this much money on a keyboard, there are better mechanical options to be had, and membrane options of similar quality for far less money. Overall, I don't hate the keyboard, I was just expecting more from a 100 dollar membrane keyboard.

5 out of 5 eggsROCCAT ISKU FX

This review is from: ROCCAT Isku FX USB Multicolor Gaming Keyboard

Pros: What I love most about this keyboard is in all honesty, they comfortably. ROCCAT managed to hit the nail on the head with this design. Which comfortably is just as important for me as customization of keys since I stream on Twitch 4 days a week.

The included software has around 20 included Macro profiles for games already set up, and had quite a few software profiles too such as Photoshop which is nice since I am also a graphic designer.

Everything about this is just as advertised which is great.

Cons: I would have to say the first con right out of the box is that I didn't get a physical disk for driver installation. But, that's just being picky. In all honesty I didn't mind going to ROCCAT's site to get the drivers and software.

The only REAL con about this is and the KONE XTD mouse I bought to go along with this is the fact that you need to manually turn voice notifications off or else, as other reviewers said you will hear what sounds like the channeled ghost of George Carlin congratulating you on your earned achievements via the software for both products lol.

Other Thoughts: I am more than pleased with this purchase and the KONE XTD and the ISKU FX work in tandem just as advertised. I would be more than willing to make this purchase all over again, and am now looking at getting a ROCCAT mousepad to go along with my set.

4 out of 5 eggsClose to perfect but not quite.

This review is from: ROCCAT Isku FX USB Multicolor Gaming Keyboard

Pros: Looks good, feels good. Good build quality, keys are fine even though not mech. Lights are pretty good, needs more lighting effects built in to the software. Things like button ripple, or the lights change with music of a player. stuff like that. Overall I like it

Cons: Finger prints and smudges easily. glossy black is impossible to keeps shiny and clean.

Other Thoughts: More lighting effects plz, otherwise awesome.

5 out of 5 eggsSurprisingly good

This review is from: ROCCAT Isku FX USB Multicolor Gaming Keyboard

Pros: I wanted to replace my ancient G15 when I built my new gaming rig, but I didn't have much budget left over for doo-dads. I went to Best Buy but they didn't seem to have the selection of keyboards they used to, and I didn't want a boring one. So I took the plunge and got this even though I was skeptical about the brand and the almost too good to be true price.

I was pleasantly surprised. Overall, it looks pretty sharp for the price. The driver is very full-featured with a ton of customization options, but you have to D/L from their site, no CD comes with. You can create profiles to make it behave differently for different programs. The ability to make the keys light up in any color and brightness you want is pretty cool. The keys feel good to the touch and have good feedback.

Physically the keyboard is very low profile and pretty light, but sits solidly on my desk, I don't have to chase it around. The hand rest on the bottom is very solid and nothing jiggles or rattles on it anywhere.

I didn't really care for the three thumb buttons under the space bar when I ordered it, but they are very useful and have a good solid feel to them. I thought they'd be chintzy and easy to misclick from the picture, but they're well positioned and require some force to press.

Cons: The only real con I would give it is that the lighting on the number keys on the keyboard doesn't seem to cover the symbols on top completely. On mine, they sort of fade out a little near the top and it looks like the keys have dirt on them from a low angle. When looking directly down at the keyboard you don't notice this as much. Still, if they told me they could fix it, I wouldn't bother sending it back it's so minor, so not worth knocking an egg off.

Another thing could be that all the non-key lights are deep blue, which I personally like, but might clash if you want the keys a different color than blue. But I'm really stretching for cons here.

Other Thoughts: The guy who said the narrator for the driver software sounds like George Carlin was spot on. I giggled at that myself. The logo looks a lot like the Thundercats logo , which could be good or bad depending on your world-view of Thundercats.

5 out of 5 eggsMore Features than I have ever seen!

This review is from: ROCCAT Isku FX USB Multicolor Gaming Keyboard

Pros: Great size, solid construction, a lot of buttons to work with, and great drivers for everything. Ive seen a few bad reviews about "slow update times" from changing settings on the drivers to them taking effect, but they've never been longer than 2 and a half seconds for the changes, and even THAT was the longest Ive had in delays.

The driver program is VERY extensive, and you can change more than just the extra buttons, you can change the function keys, the media buttons, making them as short cuts and having profile switching is a very handy thing. You can literally set the keyboard to go into gaming mode, change color pending on what gaming mode you put it in, record macros on the fly, I was earnestly impressed. The board even came with pre-sets for various games like WoW, TF2, Crysis, etc, to basic program and computer functions for photoshop, editing programs, shut down hibernate, wake up, as well as functions for Team Speak. Those features really surprised me.

And the color customization was no joke, to include an optional "breathing" effect and color cycle mode.

Also, based on the images, it LOOKS like the three buttons below the space bar are not low enough, but they are, you can easily tap them when you need to.It can even keep track of key strokes, both total and WASD. I apparently dive to the right more often than to the left. The entire thing was one big surprise and I would gladly purchase the board again and highly recommend it.

Cons: Sadly, this ALMOST lost star for me as I got this for gaming,
The extra keys are NOT "Extra Keys" I was hoping that they would be quasi joy-stick or extra mouse button keys, but they are not sadly, that is not to say you cant make them be short cuts for things, such making a profile for a game, which has buttons in awkward spots, just make the bonus keys act as said keys, don't even need to reconfigure the game. Its not an issue, but I was looking forward to having 8 extra buttons that weren't linked to any key presses. If it were possible, it would loose only half an egg for this, but, all of the other features more than made up for this slight draw back for me.

Other Thoughts: Lastly, and I had to mention this, specifically. The keyboard has the option to have a voice state when you change profiles, or when you are recording, or stopped recording a macro. If you don't like it, you can easily turn it off, or have it work for just the macro recording or just the profile swapping.

That being said, I swear it sounds like George Carline recorded it. The moment I heard that voice the only thing I heard after that were hilarious quotes from his comedy skits that I sadly cannot recite here. Again, not a pro, or a con, just something that I was laughing historically at when my computer suddenly started channeling the ghost of George Carlin.
