5 out of 5 eggsVery good & useful

Pros: I don’t scan every day and will never put a scanner on my desk but…. With this product, I can do it since it doesn’t take any extra space, I love it, and I also started scanning since it became so easy now.
From time to time I need to scan extra-long documents like bills, and this scanner can scan up to 30” long.
You can scan multiple page (manual feed) and it will generate for you a pdf and attach it to email message all automatically without any selections or clicks. Yet if you make change like setting the document name for the attachment or change even the function from email to save to file, it is a very intuitive interface and you do it by moving the mouse over the scanner popup box.
A great and useful product, my husband bought one 3 years ago and now I bought additional one.

Cons: follow the installation instructions, make sure you connect to USB2 which is also set to USB2 mode, when I first installed on my DELL it was failing every few scans until the keyscan support check and found out that my DELL's USB2 port is actually preset on the BIOS to "legacy" USB1.1, proper settings on the BIOS fixed the problem, I wonder why DELL degrade their system USB2 into USB1.1

1 out of 5 eggsPiece Of Junk!!!!! Do Not Buy!

Pros: Nothing at all, this product is pure garbage. It is bulky, loud, expensive, not wireless and the software looks like it was made for Atari. Also this product used to be $79-$99 a few yrs ago and now is marked up over $100. Not sure how an out of date product has increased in price the longer it has been out.

Cons: This is a piece of junk, bulky, expensive, load, software is awful and price is increasing on product which baffles my mind how this could happen.

Other Thoughts: Do not buy this product, such a waste of money. There are way better cheaper portable scanners on the market, stay away!!

1 out of 5 eggsTerrible software

Pros: If you can get it to work it isn't bad.

Cons: I own 3. The software is terrible. Constantly crashes and calibration fails. IF I can get it to work it takes hours to get a good installation. But 9 out of 10 times, the installation fails.

5 out of 5 eggsKeyScan KS810-P

Pros: Works as advertised, software and Macros are a nice compliment to the scanner/keyboard

Cons: The only thing is you sort of have to help the paper feed when you start a scan. keep in mind this is not a high volume scanner.

Other Thoughts: My wife loves its and it takes up no extra space

4 out of 5 eggsgood for certain things

Pros: Good for scanning ID cards and the like. Good for short documents that need to be filed in different places. Love the fact that it takes up NO space.

Cons: Don't buy this if you have photos or a large volume of documents. I have four of them and had mechanical problems with two of them after about a year, but I would buy them again for their compactness and convenience in a busy front desk situation such as a doctors office.

3 out of 5 eggsGood enough

Pros: Scans long documents. Takes up no additional space on the desktop. Handles anything from flimsy register receipts to card stock.

Cons: Needs a longer paper guide. Feed mechanism gets hung up on creases. Bottom-to-top scanning seems weird. Doesn't automatically sense width/height of paper. Software feels like it's straight out of Windows 3.0. Terrible photo scans.

Other Thoughts: I bought this scanner because I'm digitizing years and years of old paperwork and I have a few oddball documents that are too large for my regular scanner. It only goes up to 11.5" and I have a number of documents running between 14 and 26 inches. (Yes, single pages 8.5" wide by 26" long.) Although I already have an excellent photo scanner, I decided to see what this would do with a snapshot. Downright awful at 600dpi. Don't buy this thing to scan photos. But, for my purposes (scanning long documents), it'll get the job done cheap without taking up any extra space.

3 out of 5 eggsDownload updated software first!

Pros: Great idea for my genealogy road trips to courthouses and funeral houmes.

Cons: The white balace/calibrate you must open the interface manually and calibrate with a black sheet of white paper. The no-touch option will crah during calibration attempts. You must have extra power to supply the scanner (power supply included). It would be better if it was powered by USB alone.

Other Thoughts: The updated software must be downloaded from the manufacturer's web page. The software that comes with the unit is out dated, as if often the case with new hardware.

2 out of 5 eggsJust Okay

Pros: The Keyboard Worked, and that is all I can say about it. I am not a fussy customer but what else can you say about a keyboard.

Cons: the scanner took paper fine. The documents came out excellent. As far as scanning pictures, out of 10 pictures five were able to be scanned in and ejected. The other five got stuck inside and had to be pulled out manually. I'm not very satisfied with the scanner. It needs some improvement.

Other Thoughts: the installation was just a little bit more difficult than I thought. You must follow the instructions to a T when installing. After that everything works smoothly. The softer was a bit old-fashioned and I was expecting a little better quality. I would not recommend this scanner for anybody who intends to scan pictures.
