1 out of 5 eggsBad LED, and again Bad LED's

Pros: Loved typing on it

Cons: My initial one lasted a month before I started loosing LED for keys. After the 18th LED went out I RMA'd it. It's replacement lasted 2 months before the first LED on a key went out again. 2 weeks later another 3 keys no longer light up.

DO NOT buy this keyboard!!! Their replacements are just as faulty than the original.

2 out of 5 eggsNice keyboard but crummy LEDS

Pros: Very responsive keys
Nice looking design
Lot of programmable keys

Cons: Had my first LED light fail. Now my "K" key no longer illuminates. After googleing this problem seems pretty common with this keyboard. So buyer beware. It is covered under warranty, but then you end up with a refurb and only a 90 day warranty. So when the next light dies half a year after receiving the replacement you are sorely out of luck.

4 out of 5 eggsGood, while it lasted

Pros: The keyboard was absolutely fantastic. I loved typing on Cherry MX Red swiches. The LED lighting was very nice with three different brightness levels (excluding no lighting).

Cons: The keyboard I received did not include a indicator on the "F" key so I know where my left hands were. So, typing seemed difficult, along with gaming, because I would often have to check which keys my left hands are on. Lighting on half of the whole keyboard went out. RMA was somewhat quick (2 weeks), but I am still happy that I managed to get it RMA'd. I had the keyboard for about 8 months before the LEDs died on me. Typing was perfectly fine, but I couldn't stand the LED with some keys not working.

Other Thoughts: Overall, the keyboard was great and the RMA process was relatively easy for me. I did get a new keyboard.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Solid. I could use this keyboard to fend off a zombie attacking me... and then sit down and continue doing whatever i was doing on my computer.
The key action almost reminds me of an old word processor, but it's smooth. the keys don't feel like they will hang or are loose.

Cons: If you have bear paws for hands... this keyboard is going to feel fairly cramped to you if you try to do any typing (like a review...) since it's definitely made to be a gaming keyboard. The keys are close and compared to the old microsoft keyboard I have... I'm almost reaching across the entire length of the board when reaching for it.
The other thing is the price. It's a quality keyboard, no doubt... but you're going to pay for it.

Other Thoughts: The keyboard had a promo the day I bought it for a free headset, so the price of the keyboard and the headset kind of balanced out on the price issue for me.

3 out of 5 eggsSigh...

Pros: solid, works great.

Cons: I was hoping the dying of LEDs would have been resolved but, over the past month I have lost the LED on G5, G8, G10, G15, G18 and the [ key(s). Dissapointed.

1 out of 5 eggsUpdate on defective board

Pros: Worked nicely while it lasted.

Cons: Poor long term quality

Other Thoughts: Just an update...after 11 LEDs went out on this board...it has completely failed and is now unresponsive.

2 out of 5 eggsAfter my 2nd RMA, re-reviewing once again

Pros: I forget, as when I had it, it was faulty, but I haven't had it for a month now since my most recent RMA.

Cons: I asked them to ship me a new unit before I sent the old one back, they refused.

I sent my unit back anyway, as given the ridiculous amount of money I spent on the keyboard, I expect it to work for more than a year. After many times exceeding their "2 business day" SLA on replies via their force.com support portal, they finally acknowledge receipt of my RMA, but "Sorry we're out of stock, no ETA on a new unit."

Seriously, I may stop buying any sort of Corsair product -- heatsink, PSU, keyboard, headphones, anything - because of this experience.

Other Thoughts: Get your stuff together.

5 out of 5 eggsLove it.

Pros: Ownership:
I've owned this keyboard for 6 months - zero problems.

Keyboard Primary Use:
Gaming [World of Warcraft (limited), League of Legends (extensively), CS:GO (extensively)]

Personal Knowledge Level:
I've purchased a few membrane keyboards over the years, but this was my first dive into mechanical keyboards. I remember being a child in the early 90's and my father had an old mechanical keyboard and I was reminiscing of the 'clicking' that comes with a mechanical keyboard when I bought this keyboard. **If you're looking for that 'clicking' sound, then you're looking for BLUE switches (and potentially heavier BLUE switches, which I think are BROWN, but I can't remember, don't take my word on BROWN). This keyboard only makes sounds when you bottom out the keys (the key physically hits the platform of the keyboard)**
Note: This keyboard does not come in any other mechanical switches other than RED

Pros:
-tactile feedback from keyboard is to be expected from a red-switch mechanical, very satisfying

-This keyboard is high quality, everything about it feels great. The base, the keys, the extra buttons, all very durable and made with the highest quality materials I've seen on a keyboard

-The lighting is great, i'm satisfied with the lowest setting, and it goes higher (My computer is in my room, and I turn it off at night, The brightness may be an issue if you leave it on as it can be quite bright. Use it as a night light =P)

-I've used the G-keys for a few MMOs, though I tend to not use them. The software is like any software, a little bit of a learning curve, but definitely gets the job done

-A few presets for which keys light up, Easy to manage and fun to play with, but I honestly don't use anything other than full light.

-pass-through USB on the keyboard is great. I plug my cabled mouse into it which removes the need for me to plug/unplug my mouse from the back of my PC. (keyboard has 2 USB plugs, one for keyboard and one for pass-through)

Cons: Cons:
-Issue with back-light for the keys above QWERTY, ( ~, 1-9, -, +) and other keys that have dual, shift-related, functions, ( :, ", <, >, SHIFT, ENTER, and numpad). The back-lighting for these keys only lights the top function (ex. 1-button: ! is bright, 1 is dull). The bottom function is about half the brightness of the normal brightness. I was disappointed to see this as all pictures online do not show this. It probably would have been a deal breaker for me when purchasing this keyboard at the time of purchase, so I wanted to put it out there. However, this keyboard is so great that I got over it.
(The reason for this how the keys attached to the mechanical switch. The tops of the keys are more exposed to the back-light than the bottom of the keys)

-back-light only comes in WHITE.

Other Thoughts: This is a great keyboard. The money you spend is the quality that is returned. The only reason why I might replace this keyboard is because the SAME keyboard is coming out in RGB back-lighting, sometime late 2014, early 2015, instead of only WHITE back-lighting.

Highly Recommended, will not be disappointed. Will most likely be pleasantly surprised and humbled.

1 out of 5 eggsDo not get this board

Pros: Nice key board, excellent tactile response, feels great to type on or play games

Cons: First board failed within 2 days of arrival, second board worked for just over 2 months then bit by bit the LED s began to fail on this board. in 3 days I have lost 8 keys. Since I bought this board for gaming, the lights were a large part of my decision. I have to give this board a fail mark. I should have paid attention to the other reviews stating this issue.

1 out of 5 eggsUnacceptable durability for a $150 keyboard. Freshly RMA'd board has LEDs burned out within 24 hours.

Pros: - *Feels* very well constructed
- Looks nice
- Functions well... when it functions

Cons: I bought this keyboard back in April of 2013. I did not mistreat it. I used it on my desk, and occasionally would pull it down onto my lap when I wanted to relax.

Within the first year, the cable started cutting out, making the keyboard completely non-functional. At first it happened only very occasionally, but within a month or so, I could rarely get it to work at all.

The times that I did get it to work, I started seeing that the LEDs on certain keys were burnt out. Looking through the reviews here, it seems like an EXTREMELY common problem.

I RMA'd the keyboard a month ago. It was about $15 shipping, and the entire process took about a month. A new keyboard arrived a few days ago. Within 24 hours (I kid you not), I was getting burned out LEDs on the brand new board.

Other Thoughts: There is no way that a $150 keyboard should have these issues. The cable connection problem might be an isolated case, but the burned out LEDs show every indication of being very widespread.

The rate of incidence makes it impractical to even RMA the thing. Why pay $15 RMA'ing and go without a keyboard for a month when you have a reasonable expectation that the same thing is going to happen, and quickly?

This is unacceptable. Corsair needs to do a recall on this product and do some serious inspection of their manufacturing processes.

This is coming from a guy who has a Corsair:
*Case
*CPU Cooler
*PSU
*Mouse
*Keyboard
*RAM

I have been in the market for a headset recently, and was considering adding a Corsair headset to this list, but I honestly don't know if I am willing to trust any peripherals from the company that makes this keyboard.

This product is hurting your brand's reputation. Fix it.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Customer,

We're deeply sorry that the replacement we issued is still having the LED burn out. Please contact us at 888-222-4346 and we'll see what we can do to improve your experience with our keyboards.
