5 out of 5 eggsSmooth experience vs. Cherry reds

This review is from: Corsair Gaming K95 RGB Mechanical Gaming Keyboard - Cherry MX Brown Switches

Pros: I upgraded from the cherry red k70 keyboard, the RGB K95 is a great keyboard if you like to tinker around with the software. It isn't intuitive I must admit. But Kyle from awesome sauce network (Youtube) does a great tutorial video on how to get this keyboard going. I highly recommend watching that video as you get this keyboard.

My first cherry switches were cherry red, I was very hesitant to get the brown switches as I didn't know if I would like them more. The brown switches have grown on me and I can confidently say I prefer the brown over red as it is a great mid point of blue and red switches.

Cons: No everything is great so far. No freezes or crashes the software is good letting you know when there is a update. I am on windows 10 by the way.

2 out of 5 eggsSave your money

This review is from: Corsair Gaming K95 RGB Mechanical Gaming Keyboard - Cherry MX Brown Switches

Pros: * Love the switches.
* Infinite lighting customization.
* Macros.
* Solid construction.

Cons: * Freezes all the time. Most keys still function just the lighting freezes and sometimes the macros work and sometimes they don't. I have to unplug and re-plug this thing in daily.
* Takes up two USB ports.
* Unreliable.

Other Thoughts: I have the Corsair Vengeance gaming mouse and several other Corsair products. So far all great products so I thought I'd give this keyboard a try, this keyboard sucks, just to come out and be blunt! At least save some money and just get the regular one, not the RGB. Since it freezes all the time you really don't benefit from having the colors.

5 out of 5 eggsamazing gaming peripheral

This review is from: Corsair Gaming K95 RGB Mechanical Gaming Keyboard - Cherry MX Brown Switches

Pros: great mechanical feedback with very nice customizable rgb lights now that all the bugs have been worked out of the software. media keys are a plus since I have a custom playlist I listen to will working. volume wheel is great for small or quick large changes in volume.

Cons: the software had a lot of problems when it first came out. after that I have yet to have any negative experience with this model.

Other Thoughts: I would highly recommend to anyone need media keys with abundant of programmable keys for macros or to open programs.

5 out of 5 eggsWorth it

This review is from: Corsair Gaming K95 RGB Mechanical Gaming Keyboard - Cherry MX Brown Switches

Pros: We will see how this holds up over time. But man.. There is just no comparison to a laptop or other non-mechanical keyboard. Once you get used to this, everything else feels like garbage.
I knew I was in for a treat when I saw on the box that the key switches were engineered and manufactured in Germany.

I see others complaining about the software but I've had no problems. It is more intuitive than the Alienware command center program I was using on my M18x before, which is to say it's pretty dang easy to use, and it works. I don't know what the others are whining about.

The lights have 4 brightness settings, off, then 3 levels of brightness. I keep it on the 1st level, because level 3 will burn your retinas out. BRIGHT as you want it to be, this thing..
Flip it into rainbow mode for a neat party trick. People will talk, guaranteed.

I understand others also complaining about the logo. What is wrong with the logo? I think it's cool. Whatever.

Everything works as it should and this aint your mamas keyboard. Make sure you wash your hands before using and treat it with respect lol

Cons: For $180 it was hard to pull the trigger. I was on the fence about the lesser model without the macros but glad I sprung for this because I use macros in games a bit.

The wrist rest requires included screws that secure it in place. This is only a con because if you want to take it off for any reason you better have a screwdriver around.

The housing/chassis of the macro key section of the board is not metal the way the rest of the keyboards case is. It's plastic. It's a seamless transition and it doesn't bother me, but I think it would be great if it was all one solid piece of metal, no plastic.

The heavy braided cable that requires two USB ports. I'm just waiting for this braided bit to start unweaving and fraying the way my tactx mouse braid did.

I would have liked to have had a headphone jack or a USB port or both built into this thing, for $180 I want all the toys.

Other Thoughts: If it was military grade, titanium case all the way, spare keys, spare switches, modular/replaceable lighting source for eventualities...I mean if it was built to last FOREVER. I would buy it, even for $1000.

Is anyone listening? Corsair? Saitek? Microsoft? Absolutely anyone?

5 out of 5 eggsFantastic keyboard. Highly Recommend.

This review is from: Corsair Gaming K95 RGB Mechanical Gaming Keyboard - Cherry MX Brown Switches

Pros: -Fantastic build quality
-Cherry MX Browns are absolutely amazing (especially after coming from cheap Razer switches)
-18 macros for just a slight price increase is nice
-Media keys
-Mostly Aluminum design (see after thought in cons)
-Software (Corsair CUE) has come a long way and is actually very good now

Cons: -On the top part of the keyboard where the Macro section starts it goes to a matte plastic. This is my only major gripe of the keyboard and it really isn't that big of a deal at all. This was clearly done to cut manufacturing cost.

Other Thoughts: After a month I had to RMA my first one due to two fading LEDs. This isn't that big of a deal considering the manufacturing process of LEDs will sometimes (Usually rarely) have this effect. This isn't affecting my rating of the keyboard sense it is understandable that every keyboard that roles off the line is going to be flawless. Also, this doesn't seem to be a reoccurring problem with these keyboards so don't let this keep you from buying it.

4 out of 5 eggsSolid Keyboard, Hardware Could Be Better

This review is from: Corsair Gaming K95 RGB Mechanical Gaming Keyboard - Cherry MX Brown Switches

Pros: Vivid colors
A lot of customization available via the CUE app
Responsive Keys, feels great when typing or simply gaming

Cons: If you've got a lighting preset setup that has at least one key changing colors, the ENTIRE board flickers. It seems like the hardware is checking each key's LED to see if there is a change, and if there isn't it leaves it the same color/brightness, but the light flickers on and off for each time it checks. For instance, I have it set to be teal right now, and when I type it changes the key to white. While they fade back to teal, the ENTIRE board flickers. Is it distracting? Depends, not enough for me to dock another egg. But it is a shame. If you turn off the 16.4 mil mode, it will stop, but your colors will be less vivid and it won't smoothly transition between colors, it'll jump sharply from color to color. Think of it as switching from 32bpc to 8 bpc.
Also, the media keys are too recessed for my liking. You have to sorta reach over NumLock / * -, so it's not exactly quick access.

Other Thoughts: My friend and I were trying to decide between this and the Razer Chroma, I was leaning towards the Chroma for awhile because of the audio ports and USB passthrough on the back. But I eventually just went with this for the sheer mind-numbing amount of customization. But I recently found out that you don't need to plug in BOTH USBs from the keyboard for it to work, if you plug in just the USB with the keyboard icon on it into a USB 3.0 port, it'll function perfectly.
CUE could use some more options, a lot of them in fact, but this is definitely the most control you're going to get with any RGB keyboard.

4 out of 5 eggsCorsair Gaming Review

This review is from: Corsair Gaming K95 RGB Mechanical Gaming Keyboard - Cherry MX Brown Switches

Pros: The 'pros'... Well its a great keyboard, fast, well built, and great to listen too as the Cherry MX brown keys click as they bottom out. People suggested the reds, honestly I'm not one for that kind of key setup so I went for the browns and well that was a great choice on my part. With the slight resistance to each key press makes it more... comfortable I guess, that's how I would describe it.

The keyboard is beautiful, back-lighting glows faintly on the aluminum body, giving it an aura that none other can really give to you, also thanks to its construction, the keyboard is easy to clean, because the keys are not imbedded in the keyboard but instead lifted, so the need to pull each key to clean under it and with a chance to damage your mechanical keys is less likely.

Corsair did their work on this keyboard and so I look forward to getting another product from corsair from the future, maybe a mouse. But this keyboard stands for its self, making it by far the best I've ever had, or touched in awhile.

Cons: The 'cons'... Well its a few minor things, I question the quality on the G-keys, they are nice, addition, but the feel to them doesn't exactly feel the same as other keys on the keyboard, which makes me question the idea if they are actually mechanical or not, after pulling off a few keys to see if they match, which they do, its kind of hard to tell unless you open the keyboard yourself, which I won't do... for now.

The lack of a USB hub on this keyboard also bothers me, for how much you pay for this thing, it should automatically have one, like seriously Corsair, you going to release other versions of this keyboard, and not put an USB hub on it? Well that's cheep.

The software isn't exactly... "user friendly" even with my skill in programming, and in gaming, this seriously takes the cake. Its like trying to tell your computer to do something, when it wants to do something else entirely, the key grouping system is complicated at first, because each group can mask the color of another, so if you have a default group that is red, and a custom group that is blue, you will have purple keys... problem is the color you want is blue. So i suggest having two groupings, one for key groups that are affected by the theme, and the other for color grouping.

Have a little more Demo themes in the software, not a lot of people will find the time to find themes on your site, or make them, so suggest having a few on the side as well, so people can enjoy their keyboard to their liking.

Other Thoughts: Great keyboard so far not much to complain about, owned it for a day, but if it breaks down, ill let you all know about it, and Corsair will be getting a ear full of it.

5 out of 5 eggsDon't Wait

This review is from: Corsair Gaming K95 RGB Mechanical Gaming Keyboard - Cherry MX Brown Switches

Pros: Shout out to Newegg....this arrived sooner than I expected. This is my first mechanical keyboard. To go from keyboards supplied with PC's this this? Wow...visually, this keyboard is a work of art. Didn't really know about Cherry switches, so I took a chance and ordered brown. Since I don't have a point of reference, all I can go by is previous keyboards. This is by far the best keyboard I have ever owned. I literally just took it out of the box and am downloading software. It is a dream keyboard.

Cons: Didn't order sooner. Seriously, this keyboard is a thing of beauty.

Other Thoughts: From membrane keyboards to this? I really only thought of keyboards as a input device. You hit the key and bam....it's on the screen. After using this keyboard for under 1/2 hour, I have totally changed my idea of a input device. I really think I can type faster...lol. And the lighting. I can hardly wait to learn all about it. Corsair...send the check to Tony J......

4 out of 5 eggsQuality Control Could Be Better

This review is from: Corsair Gaming K95 RGB Mechanical Gaming Keyboard - Cherry MX Brown Switches

Pros: - Solid Design
- Thick Braided Cable
- Gold Tipped USB Ends
- Easy to Clean
- Smooth Key Presses
- Ample Macro Keys
- Infinite Lighting Possibilities
- Plug and Play*
- Great Volume Roller and Media Keys
- Windows Key Lock

* If you choose not to use the software, there are 3 built in presets. M1 has the keys red with the arrows and WSAD white. M2 has the WSAD and nearby keys illuminated, for RTS/MMO. M3 has the letters illuminated blue for typing.

Cons: - Keys are loud when they bottom out*
- Doesn't feel like a $200 keyboard (OT)
- Software is intimidating at first
- Weak and limited stand adjustment legs
- No USB Passthrough.

* I recommend purchasing the clear rubber rings to put at the bottom of the buttons to lessen the noise of plastic hitting aluminum when you bottom keys out. Should come built in.

5 out of 5 eggsAMAZING!

This review is from: Corsair Gaming K95 RGB Mechanical Gaming Keyboard - Cherry MX Brown Switches

Pros: -Cherry MX browns
-VERY ergonomic
-wrist rest
-Best build quality i have ever had on a gaming keyboard keyboard and ive had a razer blackwidow ultimate 2013(notsuprised) as well as used an alright ducky keyboard.

Cons: Not a hug complaint but the extra G keys almost dont feel mechanical for some reason but im never going to use them for movement anyway so not really a complaint. i mean who doesnt like extra macros? especially for moba, RTS and mmo's.
