4 out of 5 eggsSolid Keyboard

Pros: The custom lighting profiles and effects had me "Ooo and Ahhing" when I first got it though I eventually got bored of the effects and I found it to be a bit distracting while I was gaming.

You can program each key to a color of your choice. I now run a solid mixture of Green/Red/Blue. It really does make life that much better to have a beautifully lighted keyboard...it's just pleasing to the eye.

The build is sturdy with a smooth finish on the keys. I had to get used to it as I had never used a mechanical keyboard before. My fingers don't really grip the surface at all but I am able to glide across the keyboard without making too many accidental key strokes.

Cons: The space-bar is a bit too sensitive on my keyboard.

I didn't want to knock off an egg for this but to this day...a couple months after purchase...even as I write this review...I am still accidentally tapping the space-bar far too often. I just wish it had a little more feedback on the space-bar.

Other Thoughts: I would recommend this product to any gamer who is looking to upgrade to a mechanical keyboard. It really does enhance the experience and makes your key-strokes feel much more efficient. The custom lighting profiles are neat and profiles can be changed on the fly or automatically by game if you don't mind running the corsair software 24/7.

5 out of 5 eggsNo regrets

Pros: Excellent build and design.
Excellent key response while gaming.
Fairly easy to use program for importing profiles and creating your own.
I love the feel of the Cherry MX Red switches.
I am a big fan of the volume rocker.
Since I have received it, there have been several firmware and software updates so Corsair is still actively supporting and improving many issues discussed in negative reviews.

Cons: It's unfortunate that enabling full color mode results in flickering for some profiles. That being said, the normal mode doesn't look bad at all.

Other Thoughts: It took a little getting used to the key spacing coming from an old Saitek Eclipse II keyboard that I had been using for 10 years.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Very good build quality. The weight and materials used will simply make holding the keyboard your assurance that this is a top quality product. It also doesn't hurt that it looks great, too.

Very easy to clean any debris off as the buttons stand off of the keyboard as opposed to being sunken inside the frame. It also doesn't hold debris because there is not really any place for it to fall into.

Removable wrist rest. The wrist wrest itself is actually quite comfortable, although I don't use it.

Firmware is constantly released fixing many of the software issues and bettering the current software features.

Cons: It uses 2 USB slots.

The software can be a little irritating sometimes due to minor glitches. It has a steep learning curve and is rather user unfriendly.

Other Thoughts: This is the best keyboard I have ever owned. Everything that is good about this keyboard is outstandingly good. At first I was weary of spending $170 on a keyboard, but now after having owned it for a while, I don't think I could ever go back to a "normal" keyboard ever again. The price doesn't even come into mind anymore. I will definitely buy another one like it when it's time to replace this one.

When I first bought this keyboard, the software issues made me seriously reconsider my purchase. Now, update after update only sees this board becoming better and better.

4 out of 5 eggsAwesome keyboard

Pros: * Solid, durable, comfortable, great for gaming
* Cherry switches are superb
* LED Lighting is neat-o
* Volume rocker is essential; media keys are a nice addition
* Braided cable seems durable

Cons: * Windows button can't be remapped without losing the ability to use the Winlock button.
* No USB passthrough.

Other Thoughts: Love this keyboard, but I soon found out that if I were to remap the GUI function to anything but the Windows key, the Winlock button doesn't work. Somewhat understandable, but it would be nice if you could remap the Windows button to e.g. Ctrl and still have the Winlock button disable the start menu from coming up.

2 out of 5 eggsEh, it's not that great

Pros: It's a mechanical keyboard. It actually looks really, really nice. I love the build and the ability to choose the backlight colors.

Cons: You know, I really wanted to love this keyboard. My Logitech G510 had finally given up the ghost and it was time for something new. Everyone knows that mechanical keyboards are simply the best, and Corsair is a name that I trust. So I bought this keyboard.

The first issue, and possibly the biggest, is the sheer finger fatigue. The keys are incredibly hard to press with a long travel distance. Not a big deal for men with naturally larger and stronger fingers, perhaps, but average women might want to skip this one based on that alone. I don't know for certain that it's because of the Cherry MX red keys (according to my research the general consensus is these are one of the lowest fatigue inducing of the lot), but there is definitely *something* about this particular board that I've simply never experienced before.

Second, the software is terrible. No, really, it's awful. If you don't plug the two USB connectors in the right order, or if you are using certain peripherals from other vendors (most notably logitech), forget about it even recognizing your board. It won't. You'll fight with it and reboot and fight with it some more and when all the stars align and Venus is in retrograde, you'll finally be able to adjust the lighting and use it for gaming. Maybe.

Third, this board, the more expensive model, doesn't come with any extra keys with raised bumps to help find the home row\WASD. Minor and it's something you can call their support team to order, but it's weird that you can buy the more expensive board and get less than if you buy the one without the RGB color capability.

Fourth and finally, forget about returning it if you do end up with an incompatibility. It wouldn't work right with my Logitech software no matter what I did, and I tried to send it back explaining the issues. However, they wanted me to pay shipping and a 25$ restocking fee. I ended up moving away from the logitech mouse to a naga for an unrelated reason and it plays much more nicely with the naga. So in the end, I'm still using the keyboard. It was a little shocking that they wouldn't take it back. If you are at all on the fence about this one don't even bother. If it doesn't work for you they will make sure it's not worth it to ship it back and you will be stuck with it anyway. Try some other brands first and this one as a last resort.

Other Thoughts: I don't think I'll buy corsair again. I like them for power supplies and RAM, but this whole experience just left a sour taste. I would have tried one of their other boards but I'm stuck with this one now. I'll probably trade it to someone for a razer or another logitech.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: The material of the keyboard is really nice and the feeling and touch of the key is amazing specially when you click. Nice lighting!

Cons: I personally thought its was a little bit loud so I bought some Rubber O-Ring Switch Dampeners. The price definitely hurts, but you still get a really nice product for you money.

1 out of 5 eggsDied in 3 months...

Pros: None.

Cons: Died in 3 months. After I read all newegg.ca comments to be sure I wasn't gonna get ripped off I chose to still believe in this product but after 3months letters from 'Q' to 'U' output random first line letters instead of the desired letter. Not very practical.
