4 out of 5 eggsSolid Keyboard overall, few minor details

This review is from: Corsair Gaming K70 Mechanical Gaming Keyboard - Cherry MX Brown

Pros: - Mechanical Keyboard is amazing for typing. The keys feel great
- Very solid build quality, never moves
- The wrist-rest is a great plus
- Comes with 1 2 3 4 5 and W A S D textured keys
- No software required

Cons: - Volume Roller can't be programmed to change a specific programs volume
- Doesn't come with textured arrow keys (left handed gaming)
-Kind of hard to see the caps lock, numpad lock, and scroll lock lights when sitting down, have to strain to see them

Other Thoughts: All in all this is a great keyboard and I would definitely recommend it to somebody if they were asking. If I had the choice I would like most likely get the K70 RGB next time. The only big con is that I can't program the volume wheel, but what can you do about that when you don't have software for the keyboard.

5 out of 5 eggsBest keyboard I've used...

This review is from: Corsair Gaming K70 Mechanical Gaming Keyboard - Cherry MX Brown

Pros: Outstanding tactile feel
Aluminum build gives it a sturdy feel
Extra weight keeps it from shifting on the desktop
First wrist support I've found that actually works as designed.

Cons: A little pricey
I could do with a little less noise.

Other Thoughts: It used to be that a quality computer came with a quality keyboard. Not anymore. The garbage the manufacturers push off on the buying public is a virtual sin. Let's get it straight from the start. I am not a gamer. My favorite game is Microsoft Word, followed closely by Photoshop. But as a professional writer and developer of training materials, my fingers spend a lot of time traveling over the QWERTY layout and a third-rate keyboard gets old fast. This Corsair almost immediately improved my typing speed and most definitely improved the typing experience. My Dell keyboard went out in the recycle last week. I was so impressed with the Corsair quality that the day my new keyboard arrived, I drove down to Best Buy and bought the Corsair mouse. If you are looking for a high-quality keyboard for the purpose of putting characters on "paper", I highly recommend you consider this one.

2 out of 5 eggsCaution! Corsair Misrepresented this keyboard as something it is NOT!

This review is from: Corsair Gaming K70 Mechanical Gaming Keyboard - Cherry MX Brown

Pros: Well built, clean design. Cherry MX keys! Comes with textured key caps.

Cons: Corsair horribly misrepresented this keyboard!

This is a driver/software-less keyboard. Corsair Utility Engine (CUE) does not recognize this keyboard as a device.

"key by key customizable backlighting lets you illuminate your key bindings." - Nope doesn't this. You can toggle the brightness of the keys. Switch between the LED's all being off, on, or WASD 1-6 keys lit.

"You can program backlighting for each key independently, so you can set up a custom-lit key binding and save it to onboard memory." - Nope, can NOT program backlighting for each key independently.

Other Thoughts: Corsair even recognized this product was misrepresented in this post way back in 2013!

4 out of 5 eggsNice keyboard.

This review is from: Corsair Gaming K70 Mechanical Gaming Keyboard - Cherry MX Brown

Pros: Nice keyboard. I like the feel and features....

Cons: ..it was just too "clicky" for me. I ended up returning this and going with a Cosair Straffe. It is still a little noisy, just a little more muted.

Other Thoughts: This is not a bad keyboard by any means. Gaming mechanical keyboards are going to be louder than a standard keyboard, if you are not used to them... go to a local store and try some out before you order one.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat overall, doesn't work with my mouse

This review is from: Corsair Gaming K70 Mechanical Gaming Keyboard - Cherry MX Brown

Pros: The quality of this keyboard is excellent. I've had a few friends recommend it to me and I can see why people choose this series of keyboards. It has an excellent weight, the keys feel good, the LEDs are high quality, and it has a few extra media features. I bought this at $99 so that price point is just right for me, but I'm not sure if I would spend more on it.

Cons: The product does not work with my Razer Deathadder 2013 mouse. The USB passthrough works with most of my other devices including some random apple mouse I had lying around, but the Deadadder will not be recognized through the USB port on the keyboard. I contacted support but they were extremely unhelpful. I feel like there is a compatibility issue between the Razer drivers and how this keyboard connects. I even re-installed all USB drivers and tried every port and combination. It simply does not work with this mouse. But hey, I can use the passthrough to charge my iPhone! I have a friend who has another Razer mouse and it works just fine.

Other Thoughts: I would highly recommend this board, just be weary if you are using a gaming mouse and do a bit of research to see if anyone else has had issues with the passthrough because support definitely will not help you.

5 out of 5 eggsI love this keyboard so much!!!!

This review is from: Corsair Gaming K70 Mechanical Gaming Keyboard - Cherry MX Brown

Pros: Cherry Mx Brown switches offer the responsiveness of a red switch almost, as well as the satisfaction from typing of a blue.
High quality keyboard , wont bend , good lighting, easy to clean
Amazing feeling wrist rest that i believe is a must on keyboards

Cons: I am so satisfied from my purchase there's zero cons i have about this thing except i regret not getting the RGB version!

Other Thoughts: Great quality Keyboard, This is my first mechanical keyboard ever, ive had many membrance gaming keyboards and did a bit of research into mechanical keyboards and the switch types and The Corsair series of keyboards its the top of the line, Cherry MX switches are the best switches you can get and this keyboard is a really good home for them. The RGB version is a little bit extra but if you are into RGB lightning you should definitely go for the RGB version. but regardless of lighting This is an amazing keyboard that ive reccomended to my wife and to my friends. You will not regret this purchase.

5 out of 5 eggsAmazing gaming Keyboard!

This review is from: Corsair Gaming K70 Mechanical Gaming Keyboard - Cherry MX Brown

Pros: - USB Pass-through, so you can plug your mouse into it.
- Textured and contoured WASD & 1-6 keys, awesome for gaming.
- Back-lighting is great, with a lot of control over brightness and which keys are back-lit.
- Cherry MX Brown switches are awesome

Cons: - My rig is Black and Red themed, and while this ended up being much better looking in person than in the photos, and I thought it looked pretty good in the photos, I still kind of regret not spending the extra $40 on the K70 RGB, or the Strafe RGB. This is not the keyboard's fault though lol. So no eggs removed.

Other Thoughts: To be honest this is my first time buying such a nice keyboard specifically meant for gaming. I've been a PC gamer for a decade or so and I also play on consoles for exclusives, so in many games I would just use my controller on my PC to play because I was comfortable with it. In fact, I sort of disliked WASD and kb/m while gaming because to me a controller felt better in my hands. However, I have never really owned a nice keyboard like this with Cherry MX switched or contoured keys. I had an expensive Logitech wireless keyboard and mouse set that wasn't really meant for gaming, but did the job decently for years.

Anyway, I decided to finally give an actual gaming keyboard and gaming mouse, both wired, a try to see if maybe I didn't like it because I've just been doing it wrong.... and yes, that turned out to be the case. Now with this keyboard and my Corsair Sabre RBG Optical gaming mouse I am LOVING PC gaming with a kb/m. I don't know exactly how to explain it, but if you are like me and have only ever really used a laptop keyboard or even a regular desktop keyboard that has the rubber dome switches, you have no clue what you are missing and why you don't really like it. The difference is literally night and day. Do yourself a favor and get the right "tool" for the job. (gaming)

Finally, if you are used to using wireless keyboards and mice, STOP using them. I used to rage like crazy that people were somehow so much faster than I was in First Person Shooters, and it was because of the wireless. Seriously, even with a $150 Logitech wireless KB/M set, the input lag is hurting you in games.

5 out of 5 eggsFor Old Guys too...

This review is from: Corsair Gaming K70 Mechanical Gaming Keyboard - Cherry MX Brown

Pros: If you grew up using mechanical keyboards (like the IBM 3270) and are tired of slippery keys that feel like typing on butter, the K70 is for YOU too. This mechanical keyboard uses those famous Cherry microswitches - the same ones you got used to back in the 1970s on Hazeltine ot ADDS terminals. The MX Brown switch gives small amount of positive feedback when the switch activates, making for fewer mistyped words and faster writing. Definitely about as Old Skool as you can get without owning an HP mini computer.

The K70 is also backlit (this model with red LEDs) behind each key. If you're using Windows, you can program backlighting on any key you want, making for come cool combinations. Or just leave them on: writing letters to the editor late at night just got easy! And it has very nice audio controls on the keyboard: a roller volume control, plus the STOP/PAUSE/PLAY/FF/REW buttons for controlling you media player or Spotify session. These are dedicated mechanical keys, not overlays on top of the F-keys or some sticky up/down volume buttons where you can't find them. It also has a pass-through USB port, allowing you to connect a mouse - or a hub - directly onto your keyboard, removing one more set of wires from your desk.

Oh, and if you're into PC gaming, this is a pretty good gamer as well....

Cons: If you are NOT an Old Guy - or a gamer - using a mechanical keyboard is...different. Cherry keys require more travel than a laptop or other non-mechanical keyboard. If you've never used mechanical keys before, go visit a friend that has one and try it out before buying.

Mechanicals are NOT cheap molded plastic keyboards. These are rock-solid metal boxes with many individual components inside. If you are looking at cheap, don't look here. This keyboard will last for DECADES...you're paying for quality.

Other Thoughts: Anyone that wants a superior typing - and gaming - experience should seriously consider the Corsair K series of mechanical switch keyboards. While not cheap, this may very well be the LAST keyboard you ever buy.
