This ultra-durable keyboard is designed for heavy combat. The Cherry mechanical switch extends its lifespan to 50 million keystrokes. You can stop wasting time reaching for Macro keys all the way across the keyboard since its modular D-Pad can be adjusted to perfectly complement your hands natural gaming position. As we know, too many Macro keys lumped up together in the same place or split to all corners of the keyboard will only bring additional confusion and stress. AZIO’s simplistic design approach improves your speed and accuracy by keeping just 5 Macro keys to the immediate left and 6 additional ones (D-Pad) directly above your hand -- all at your fingertips.

What’s more, you can attach the Numeric Keypad on the left-wing of the Mech5 and instantly add 17 additional Macro keys to your arsenal. Or attach it to the right-wing and use it as a standard numeric keypad or leave it detached to make more room for your mice. Virtually all keys across the Mech5 are user programmable! In addition, this keyboard is designed to be water resistant, featuring special seals and drainage gutters. Spilling your drink on your keyboard is no longer an excuse for losing!

  • newegg Mechanical Keys The Cherry Black mechanical switch is widely believed to provide the best gaming experience. Featuring a linear design, the Cherry Black mechanical switch is ideal for rapid pressing of keys. And the right stiffness helps prevent accidental key presses.
  • newegg Fully Programmable Keys The included Software allows for full customization of the entire keyboard and 11 dedicated Macro-keys.
  • newegg Modular Design: The numeric keypad can be attached to either side of the keyboard or remain detached. The included Macro Keypad module is the first of many accessories that will take advantage of the keyboard’s rail system.
  • newegg Macro D-Pad The add-on Macro D-Pad expansion allows for 6 additional programmable keys. The expansion module rail enables custom positioning by sliding the D-Pad left or right.
  • newegg Anti-Ghost Ensures multiple commonly pressed keys register when pressed simultaneously.
  • newegg Water-Resistant Engineered to remain functional even if accidentally exposed to liquid. Do not flip or shake the keyboard and the liquid will properly drain itself.

5 out of 5 eggsTop-Notch Keyboard! I've bought 2 - for GOOD reasons!

Pros: - Great Key Action - the clicky-click of the mechanical keys is wonderful, but not overly noisy
- Liquid Proof - Sadly I tested this by accidentally spilling Cola all over the thing. Was in the middle of PayDay 2 and was able to keep going. Removed all the keys and cleaned it up, still going strong.
- Calculator button - where have you been all my life!
- Macros and Programmable Keys - I use the programmable key function EXTENSIVELY at work and at home.
- Volume wheel - yes please, and thank you!

Cons: It's big, but I like my keyboards big. You'll just need to make sure you have a bit of desk-space.
Of the two I've bought, one shows an intermittent problem with the modular numpad. I have to disconnect and reconnect it, but it only does it once in a blue moon and the other one never has done this.

Other Thoughts: I bought one for my home office in my search for a durable, mechanical, and versatile keyboard. I've not had to look any further. I've had my home office one for 3 years now and still love it. I love it so much that I bought a second one so I could use it at work (before this I would actually bring my home one in to work with me and then take it back at the end of the day!).

The programmable keys make running custom batch files super convenient, I even programmed one to be a Media Play button so I can stop and start my music player without opening it up. As a web developer I find the custom keys incredibly useful in mapping to remote files and the like.

I can't stress how much I love the action. The keys are firm, but neither too easy to press or too difficult and the clicking noise, while present, isn't anywhere near as loud as others I've seen.

Do yourself a favor - get one...or two.

5 out of 5 eggsFantastic for gaming.

Pros: - Great Switches!
- So many macros.
- You never think you'll use a calculator button until you have it.
- Allegedly liquid proof.(I am not gonna test it)
- Weirdly ergonomic.
- Removable numpad.(You can hook it up with a cord still.)

Cons: - It's not backlit.
- Being not backlit, the keys will eventually fade.

Other Thoughts: Some things that are neither cons nor pros but deserve listing here.

- Cherry Blacks (Don't quote me on this as I may be wrong.) Have the highest actuation force of mechanical keys. You may like this, or not.
- It is a big heavy keyboard.Again, some people like this, and some don't.

5 out of 5 eggsBest Keyboard I have ever owned.

Pros: Great Cherry Black Switches.
Easy to use Macros.
Removable Numpad.
The Calculator Button.(Surprisingly useful!)
Adjustable Macros.

Cons: Not Backlit.
Pretty Big.

Other Thoughts: Let me preface this by saying I got this keyboard on sale for $70, so my opinion might be skewed. That said, I have found no faults in this keyboard as of yet. It has responsive switches, the macros were a breeze to setup, and after I got used to it's existence, that calculator button has come in handy more than I ever expected.

While there is cons, they're not surprises, the keyboard's dimensions and lack of backlighting is no secret, if you want what this keyboard offers, you will not be disappointed. Unless it arrives DOA.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat keyboard - Awesome Service

Pros: -Detachable number pad
-Macros are easy but limited
-Windows on/off
-Volume control
-4 USB ports (3 if you have the numpad in, 2 if you have the numpad and extra macros in)
-I'm a fan of Cherry Blacks so I like the feel
-Comes with USB extension for numpad
-Calculator hotkey
-Decent liquid proof design
-The customer service..

Cons: -Key caps are a little gentle, just don't remove them too much or harshly. They're rather good but my F3 connector broke (More on that in OT.)
-Macros are limited (Still want extra keys like my mouse has MOUSE_5 instead of just macros.)
-Slightly flawed liquid proof design (More on that in OT)
-A little heavy, some may not like that
-Loud but hey, it's a mechanical keyboard

Other Thoughts: So this review was tough for me. I wanted to give this product 5 stars, I really did. However, upon spilling some water in my function row, my keyboard began malfunctioning. It was being recognized by Windows 3 times under different names and a fourth times as an unknown device that was being constantly unplugged.. The sound Windows makes when a device is plugged in then unplugged over and over again non stop... It's.. Terrible.. Well after messaging AZIO about it I was told that they would replace it no problem but I would have to pay the shipping. Expecting this, I decided to just open it up, void the warranty, and see if a little cleaning would do the trick. Well here's the kicker. The keyboard did its job! The water exited where it was supposed to, however a design flaw is what caused the malfunctioning. In the top right of the keyboard (where the volume control is) there is a separate PCB that is not protected by AZIO's water proof design. The water worked it's way from F1 all the way to the volume control.. After about 30 minutes of tinkering with the keyboard (they didn't make it that easy to take apart for cleaning btw.. To fully remove the backplate/switches you have to take off every key cap, something that other companies have worked around. Even then the switches are soldered on) I was able to fully clean it and it was working just fine. However! Some of the lubricant in my F3 was washed away somehow, so after removing it a few more times to spray some silicon oil in the switch, the connector broke. It still fits, it's just a bit wobbly and might fall off if not handled properly. Well, after telling an AZIO rep what I went through (Dave you rock), he told me that he would have an F3 key shipped out to me right away.. An F3 key.. Just an F3 key.. That's some darn good customer service right there. I even told him it was no big deal and I could tolerate the broken connector.

I want to give this keyboard 5 eggs because the customer support was beyond great. I've dealt with Cooler Master, IN WIN, Corsair, AMD, and none of them were remotely close to the quality of service that AZIO was able to provide (I'm still waiting for a follow up from AMD for a question I asked 3 months ago..). However the keyboard does have its flaws and that's what I'm supposed to be reviewing. I would absolutely recommend it (unless you want backlighting) because you can feel confident knowing that if something goes wrong these guys will take care of you. Plus it's a really good board.

2 out of 5 eggsNot a Gamers Gaming Keyboard

Pros: Looks nice, the volume knob is rather alright. It doesn't work very fast to bring volume down or up. it's comfortable to use. and the choice to add/remove the number pad and hot keys is cool. Also can disable the windows Key, and has a Calculator hot key on the numpad. Price isn't bad for a "Mechanical Keyboard"

Cons: THE KEYS DON'T LIGHT UP. Have fun gaming with the light on. Even if you mastered the keyboard your brain needs the peripherals to press other keys accurately. THE KEYS ON THE FARTHEST LEFT SIDE. You will hit them to CAPS LOCK and hit LEFT CTRL ALLOT. Since people are used to pressing the farthest left keys to the with their pinky. They keys are LOUD, and you have to press them pretty far down to get them to register, they also get in the way. my friends hear my keyboard through my micro phone with serious noise cancellation. Also useless software. Doesn't work on Laptops.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat Gaming Keyboard

Pros: The keys are great, Removable 10-key is a nice option, all the macros you could ever want, and most importantly its very durable, have had my kids banging on this and its still working like new.

Cons: Not back-lit, for the money would have liked that option.

Other Thoughts: Very solid gaming key board. Have been very happy with it for more than a year.

4 out of 5 eggsA good keyboard

Pros: -Nice feel

-Love the detachable USB num pad
-Volume control on keyboard
-Good response time
-Rarely had any ghosting problems

Cons: -Non light up keys make it hard to see in the dark
-Has ghosted a couple times

-My saved configuration for all the keys and macros did not carry over to my new computer
-Number pad seems to not want to work right sometimes

5 out of 5 eggsNo Problem

Pros: It is a great mechanical keyboard.

The modularity works great for me. No problem whenever I attached the numpad. left-right-alone all works great.

Programable is great too. Working strong after 1 year and still going.

Cons: The key lettering paints will fade off. Save yourself by buying some sticker for your letters.

The keyboard is not glossy black but it attracts dust like one.

The red replacable key cap for gaming will wear out as well ( the grid) of those keycaps will be rubbed of after less than a year of gaming.

Other Thoughts: No back lit, so not too fancy here.

1 out of 5 eggsTotal Garbage

Pros: It had a braided cable. That's pretty much the only good thing about this keyboard.

Cons: Bought 'new' arrived damaged and obviously re-packed.

Keys were generally low quality, usb ports frequently stopped working on it.
